"Tywin Martel."

Staring down at a briefing letter, Ethan sat on the steps leading up to White Tower’s warship, a frustrated expression settling across his face as he read through the details a second time, the ink still faintly damp from wherever it had been drafted in a hurry.

He’d originally only planned to wait around for Hela and Ella to be brought back by the High Regent. He hadn’t expected this particular letter to arrive quite so quickly, catching him off guard mid-wait.

"Yes. He’s the third prince of Bark."

Kang spoke from beside him, his tone level and matter-of-fact.

"Apparently he went mad partway through a ritual, and instead of formally summoning to Bark, the god his kingdom actually worships, he forced a connection with Karth entirely without permission."

"Because of that, his existing links to his other summons were permanently severed. However, he still managed to summon a celestial dragon, one Karth apparently adored, which only sparked Karth’s anger even further."

The overall situation looked genuinely bad. This Tywin was, in practical terms, a tier 5 summoner carrying a serious attitude problem, someone who had already done considerable damage to a wide range of people and now sat firmly on nearly everyone’s bad side, from minor nobles to entire branches of the royal administration.

Even his own scheming father, a man well known for outmaneuvering others, had apparently been outmaneuvered by his own son, and now wanted him captured and brought back into custody.

"He was last spotted near High Hanger. We need to move quickly if we want to pick up his trail before it goes cold."

Kang added, already rising to his feet.

Because this so-called rogue happened to be the reigning king’s own son, news of his continued trouble-making across the kingdom couldn’t be allowed to spread unchecked. Controlling that narrative mattered as much as capturing him.

Naturally, that meant the retrieval team assigned to the task had to remain deliberately small. The king had personally designated Ethan, Kang, and one additional member to handle the entire operation.

"I understand."

Ethan nodded, rising as a compact battleship docked smoothly alongside the larger warship they’d been resting near.

By the time Arian eventually returned with the two girls in tow, Ethan had already departed entirely, the mission pulling him away before any proper goodbye could happen.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"Humanity, much like the other races scattered across this world, developed its own pantheon of gods over time. One of them is Bark, the unmoving Tree of Life and sovereign beneath the sky, considered the direct ancestor of this kingdom. That lineage is precisely why our kingdom holds the significance it does within broader human society, a status few outside our borders fully appreciate."

Sitting inside the cockpit of a military battleship cutting steadily through the sky, a young woman wearing glasses read carefully from a small book held open in her hands, her voice measured and instructional.

Ethan currently sat at tier 7, which meant certain information technically remained outside his clearance. But by the time this particular mission concluded, he was expected to qualify for access to it regardless.

"The core problem with what Tywin did lies deep within the broader structure of humanity’s relationship with its gods. Gods, generally speaking, do not share subordinates, or playthings, between one another. The moment Tywin shifted his summoning connection away from the World Tree and toward the Spirit World instead, he effectively severed himself from any proper guidance entirely."

"As a result, his spirit wandered unguided until it eventually crossed paths with the celestial dragon."

The overall situation had actually carried serious danger from the very beginning, both then and even now. Had Tywin made a critical mistake and drifted too close to an actual Demi-God during that wandering, he likely would have ended up brain-dead at best, or worse, transformed into something monstrous and unrecognizable.

Fortunately, the celestial dragon hadn’t killed him outright.

Unfortunately, Karth himself had grown furious over the entire incident, striking the World Tree twice in quick succession as an unmistakable signal that he wanted his dragon returned to him without further delay.

Because of that, their mission required more than simply locating Tywin. They needed to successfully kill the celestial dragon itself, allowing Karth to finally stop it from continuing its unauthorized descent back toward the mortal world.

"It can actually work like that?"

Ethan asked, genuine confusion evident in his tone as he tried to piece together the full mechanics of what he was hearing.

From everything he’d learned so far, Karth wasn’t even technically a human god to begin with. The fact that he’d allowed essentially anyone to enter his domain so freely struck Ethan as unusually strange, almost careless by comparison to how other gods typically operated.

"Yes. Karth is a Supreme God. The rules governing beings at that level function very differently from what you’re used to."

The girl explained, her eyes drifting toward Ethan for a lingering moment before she caught herself and looked away.

Whether it was the lingering trace of Blood Tyrant energy still clinging faintly to him, or simply something innate in his personality, she found it strangely difficult to keep her attention fully off him. He carried himself with a quiet, masculine presence that felt entirely out of place given how young he actually was.

"Don’t worry too much. Tywin will eventually give in, though probably only after a long, drawn-out fight."

She added, closing her book partially as she glanced toward him again.

Though she couldn’t deny that this particular young man had genuinely impressed her, she still didn’t fully understand why His Majesty had chosen to send a tier 7 summoner into a confrontation typically reserved for tier 5 combatants specifically.

The whole arrangement struck her as fairly absurd, honestly, no matter how she turned it over in her mind.

"We’re here."

A moment later, Kang’s voice rang out clearly from the front of the cockpit, and ahead of them, a massive expanse of land dotted with small island structures came into view, suspended just above the surface of the Great Sea, held aloft by a heavy set of visible chains anchoring it in place.
