"This...."

Inside a massive hall, with pillars spread into small pools of water stretching endlessly like mirrors intertwined, Ethen stopped beside Ulric, whose gaze fell upon a throne in the distance. The entire place was strangely quiet

no guards, no servants, no warriors standing watch. Yet Ethen could feel an immense pressure hanging over the entire hall, one that made even his instincts scream at him to be careful.

"This is as far as we go," Ulric said, smiling as he looked over at Ethen. His tone remained calm, but there was a certain respect in his eyes as he stared toward the throne. If Ethen did not understand it yet, he was sure he would now.

[You are in the presence of an Avatar of the mad god Karth]

A red text box suddenly appeared before Ethen. His expression changed immediately, and for a moment he simply stared at the notification.

This wasn’t the first time he had seen the body of a god, the World Tree, the Blood Serpent God, he had seen both of them once before. But this was different.

Spirit King Karth. A supreme god. The sole reason humanity had grown strong enough to fend for itself, the progenitor of all summoners, their ultimate benefactor. Karth was the closest thing to a savior that the people of this world had, and even those who never worshipped him understood the importance of his existence ,

humanity’s entire summoning system was connected to him in one way or another. And now, an avatar of that being was sitting directly in front of him.

"He’s the one that wants to see me?" Ethen asked, a little taken aback. Every summoner was, in some way, related to Karth.

Whether it was their first summon or their second, most summoners began their journey through the power that ultimately traced back to him, and as such, Karth possessed a certain level of authority over them.

"Yes," Ulric smiled. "His ’grace’ has had his eyes on you for a long time now."

Ethen’s brows furrowed. For a long time? How long? From the very first moment Ethen summoned a human, Karth had been paying attention to him — after all, there weren’t many unique things in this world that Karth hadn’t seen before.

He had existed for far too long, watching generations of summoners rise and fall, witnessing countless classes, summons and talents. Yet Ethen’s summons were different.

"Ah...."

Ethen sighed. The mere fact that Ulric was standing here talking to him was already a clear indication that he had gotten the attention of the esoteric god. But from day one? That was something else entirely.

"Don’t ask me. Ask him."

Ulric pointed toward the stone statue sitting atop the throne. It had not moved once since they entered. Ethen’s gaze slowly shifted toward it — the statue looked nothing like the terrifying image of a supreme god he had imagined.

It simply sat there quietly, motionless, silent. Yet somehow, Ethen felt as though it was staring directly into him.

[Let me see your summons]

Ethen heard those words and frowned. There was no movement from the statue, no sound had come from its mouth. it was simply a voice that appeared inside his mind. He was beginning to understand that this was how gods communicated.

After a short few moments, Ethen shrugged. If Karth wanted to see them, there was little reason for him to refuse.

He began summoning his contracted beings, and one after another, figures appeared throughout the massive hall. As each summon materialized, their presence filled the space with different auras.

There was the greedy. The angry. The noble. The massive. The small. The strange. Everything was there. They were all different, yet they shared one fundamental trait, they had all come from somewhere beyond this world.

Ethen stood quietly as Karth’s avatar examined them. In the grand scheme of things, these summons didn’t really belong to him; they were only on contract with him through Karth’s system.

As for how this supreme being had power over beings from Earth’s history, Ethen still had no idea it was one of the greatest mysteries surrounding his abilities. He had never questioned it too deeply before, since as long as the summons continued appearing, there was little reason to complain.

But now he was standing before Karth himself. And suddenly, that mystery felt much more important.

The silence continued. Karth’s avatar remained motionless. Then his voice finally appeared again.

[That confirms it, I have no idea where these summons are coming from]

Pin-drop silence. The air itself seemed to solidify. Ethen’s eyes widened.

’Did I just hear that?’

He immediately turned toward Ulric. The angel looked completely calm, as though this revelation was something he had already expected.

"When his ’grace’ first saw you, you had summoned a humanoid through the spirit world," Ulric explained. "Now, being the king of the spirit world, his grace is aware of all beings there, whether they are under his control or not."

Ethen listened carefully.

"That one did not exist before your summoning ritual." Ulric paused. "And it’s the same for every other one of your summons."

Ethen’s expression became increasingly strange. As Ulric continued explaining, he felt the tinge of a headache coming on. He had originally thought he was special — a chosen of Karth, someone personally selected by the supreme god himself. But now what he was hearing was something completely different.

Not only was Karth not responsible for his summons... he didn’t even know where they came from.

"Then where are they coming from?" Ethen finally asked. This time, he looked directly toward the statue of Karth. The question hung in the hall. For a few seconds, there was no response. Then the voice came.

[I will be able to see that more clearly when you advance to Demi god]

Ethen’s expression became serious. Demi god — that was the boundary separating the strongest mortals from the divine. And apparently, it was also the point where Karth would finally be able to understand the origin of Ethen’s summons.

[Demi god summons are very different]

Karth’s voice continued.

[They possess a spark of divinity]

[If one descends, I will be able to feel it and determine what godly being it is related to]

Ethen remained silent. Of course, it wasn’t completely foolproof , he could simply be stealing these summons, there were countless possibilities. But there was one thing that continued to bother him: the homogeneity of his summons.

Despite their differences, they all seemed to come from the same place. That was something Ethen couldn’t explain. And apparently, neither could Karth.

[Do not fret, young one]

The voice of the supreme god became slightly softer.

[As far as I am concerned, you are still a chosen]

Ethen’s eyes narrowed slightly.

[I will help you become a Demi god]

Those words resounded throughout the hall. For a moment, Ethen simply stood there. He didn’t know exactly what Karth meant by chosen, didn’t know where his summons came from, didn’t even know why beings from Earth’s history were appearing through his abilities.

But one thing was certain, Karth had acknowledged him. And that alone carried enormous weight.

After saying those words, the statue of Karth suddenly went dim. The pressure that had filled the hall disappeared almost instantly. The avatar had seemingly run out of energy.

"That’s enough talk for today. Let’s go."

Ulric saw this and smiled, turning around and walking away. Ethen glanced at the throne one final time before following.

The massive hall slowly disappeared behind them as they moved through the strange structure of the Dawn faction.

The boy was special. There was no doubt about that. But this was only the beginning of his journey, there was a long road ahead. Especially in this place.
