I Carry a Game World With Me
Chapter 292 - 270: They Must Not Be Spared! A Brazen AttackChapter 292: Chapter 270: They Must Not Be Spared! A Brazen Attack
After getting a handle on the situation, Lu Feng and Lin Jiao logged out of the game. Lu Feng then took out his phone and dialed Yang Qingxue.
It had been a while since he’d seen his girlfriend, and he missed her quite a bit.
The call went through, and the two of them started chatting.
Lu Feng was wondering if he should ask Yang Qingxue to come over to the Xuanfeng Alliance.
After all, the cell-activating liquid facial mask was about to go into production and be promoted. Yang Qingxue had studied cosmetology, so he could have her take charge of a few things.
’However, considering some of Yang Qingxue’s personality traits, there are many tasks she isn’t suited for. I could have Lin Yao come over to help her.’
Lin Yao was indeed thorough in everything she did; perhaps many women in sales shared that trait.
The only difference was whether a saleswoman had powerful backing or not.
Without backing, everyone knew how it would end. To get ahead, you’d inevitably have to give something up. And if you were attractive, everyone would want a piece of you...
But with backing, things were completely different. The power you could unleash was beyond imagination.
Lin Yao was his cousin’s girlfriend. Everyone in Tianzhou City knew Brother Ming now, so they would all have to show his girlfriend respect. That meant her meticulous nature could be put to incredibly powerful use.
The same words from an ordinary saleswoman might be ignored, but when Lin Yao spoke, people had to listen intently.
’But Lin Yao is my cousin’s girlfriend,’ he mused. ’If I ask her to come, I’ll definitely have to bring my cousin over too. I’ll need to find a position for him.’
’That could work.’
’After all, the Xuanfeng Alliance is my main base of operations now. I need to find the right time to bring Mom over, too.’
’As for things in Tianzhou City, I’ll just leave them to Ah Pao.’
...
「Inside Wind Capital Police Headquarters.」
Chen Bo and Lin Chao were in a conference room, holding a meeting.
They were discussing the recent incident at the hospital. They had originally thought that after arresting Dacai and his men, the rest of the case would be easy to wrap up.
But the deeper they dug, the more alarmed they became. They had uncovered something else—something far bigger than Dacai and his crew profiting from the dead.
In the conference room with them was a middle-aged man named Tan Ming, the same person Master Kai had introduced to them before.
He was the one who had tried to take on the Tianzhou City medical system, only to get taken down himself.
When Yang Ming and Master Kai first approached him, he had been reluctant to get involved in this kind of work again. His experiences back in Dragon Country had left him heartbroken. But when he saw the Xuanfeng Alliance arrest over 42 people, demonstrating their resolve to clean up the medical system, he agreed to help.
So, after his arrival, his expertise helped Chen Bo and Lin Chao make unstoppable progress. They uncovered all sorts of shady dealings within the Xuanfeng Alliance’s medical system, arresting one group of people after another.
But this time, the case they’d stumbled upon was particularly troublesome.
"I never thought we’d uncover something like this," Lin Chao said with a frown.
"This is a little out of our league," Chen Bo added, also frowning.
They had been investigating the Xuanfeng Alliance’s medical system, but they had unexpectedly uncovered an organ trafficking case—one with ties to an international organization.
This organization seemed incredibly powerful, far beyond the capabilities of anyone they had arrested before.
To put it bluntly, the situation was far more serious than they had anticipated.
They might not be able to handle it on their own.
"So, should we keep investigating?" Tan Ming asked, his voice edged with frustration.
He hadn’t expected this. It was the same with the medical system back in Dragon Country as it was here in the Xuanfeng Alliance. Why was it always so difficult?
Seeing his expression, Chen Bo patted him on the shoulder. "Mr. Tan, don’t be anxious. It’s time I took you to meet *him*. We’ll ask for his opinion and also discuss your situation."
Tan Ming froze at these words, immediately realizing who Chen Bo meant.
When he was recruited from Dragon Country, they had promised him that if he could handle the case and successfully reform the Xuanfeng Alliance’s medical system, they would make him its head, giving him the authority to enact a complete overhaul.
That was why he had agreed to come and had worked so diligently on the case so far.
At first, he hadn’t believed they had the power to make such a promise. After all, Chen Bo was just a police chief. The head of the medical system was a position no lower than his own, just with a different jurisdiction.
But they had also revealed a key piece of information: the Governor of the Xuanfeng Alliance was from Dragon Country.
Because of this, he had always been immensely curious about this mysterious figure.
"Let’s go," Chen Bo said, extending an invitation.
The group left the office together and headed out.
...
"How is the case coming along?" Lu Feng asked as soon as he saw the three of them, his eyes lingering on Tan Ming for a moment.
He had never met Tan Ming before, but he had already guessed his identity.
Chen Bo had reported to him when he first brought the man over from Dragon Country.
Tan Ming stared back at Lu Feng, his heart filled with not just shock, but a deep sense of alarm.
After all, for someone so young to have the entire Xuanfeng Alliance under his control, to command such complete and respectful submission, proved that this young man was terrifying—utterly terrifying.
"President Lu, there’s been a development. A new case has emerged," Chen Bo said with a frown, handing a file to Lu Feng. "While investigating and reforming the medical system with Tan Ming, we stumbled upon something that might be connected to an international organ trafficking organization. They appear to be very powerful."
Hearing this, Lu Feng’s brows furrowed instantly.
He was immediately reminded of the kidney harvesting incidents in Myanmar. It seemed many people from Dragon Country had been tricked into going there only to have their kidneys forcibly removed.
There was even a case where a female university student from Dragon Country was found dead in Myanmar, her body dumped after her kidneys were harvested.
’These people are despicable,’ Lu Feng thought, ’even more so than those crooks at the central hospital who were profiting from the dead.’
With that in mind, he said, "Keep investigating. If anything comes up, you can find Red Lizard. Have him bring his men to support you."
"Yes, President Lu." Chen Bo felt reassured by Lu Feng’s words. He knew how formidable Red Lizard’s men were; they were even more skilled than the special forces of most countries.
With them on the case, they could handle any international organ trafficking organization.
Lu Feng then turned to Tan Ming. "Do a good job. Afterward, I’ll have Baguda appoint you as the head of the medical system."
"Thank you, Your Excellency the Governor," Tan Ming replied immediately and with great respect.
An indescribable fighting spirit lit up his face. ’It’s a good thing this man is so terrifying,’ he thought. ’The more terrifying he is, the firmer his control over the Xuanfeng Alliance.’
’With his support, I won’t have to hold back. I couldn’t clean up the filth in the medical system back in Dragon Country, but I refuse to believe I can’t do it here in the Xuanfeng Alliance.’
Having secured Lu Feng’s promise, Chen Bo, Lin Chao, and Tan Ming left Wind Manor and returned to the police headquarters.
But they had just gotten back when a staff translator entered with a police captain. "Mr. Chen, someone is at the station asking to see you. He says you’ve been investigating his people."
Hearing this, the three of them—Chen Bo, Lin Chao, and Tan Ming—immediately exchanged glances.
’It’s someone from the international organ trafficking organization.’
"Bring him in," Chen Bo said coldly.
The police captain nodded, and a moment later, he led in a man with a long scar across his face.
"You’ve got a lot of nerve, showing your face here," Chen Bo said, staring coldly at the scarred man.
The scar-faced man just smiled. He unhurriedly pulled a check from his coat, placed it on the table in front of Chen Bo, and said, "We mean you no harm. We’re just here to deliver a gift. After all, we’ve given out plenty of gifts like this one—not just in the Xuanfeng Alliance, but in Ba Country and Myanmar, too..."
"Most people accept them. Our gifts are quite substantial, you know. You can see for yourself. Isn’t accepting our gift better than making an enemy of us?"
"And this won’t be the only gift, of course."
Chen Bo picked up the check. The number written on it was indeed tempting—a long string of zeros.
Before Chen Bo could give it much thought, a hand shot out and snatched the check from him.
It was Tan Ming. He ripped the check to shreds and snarled, "You people are delusional! We will never stoop to your level."
"..." Seeing this, Chen Bo exchanged a look with Lin Chao and sighed internally.
’This guy’s temper, really...’
They had been wondering if they should pretend to accept the check, cash it, and then use it as bait to catch them.
But who would have thought...
Tan Ming’s action made Scarface’s expression darken. He looked at Chen Bo and Lin Chao. "Is that how you two feel as well?"
"What do you think?" Chen Bo snorted, stepping forward and punching Scarface squarely in the jaw. "Since you came to us, you’re not leaving."
He waved his hand, and the nearby officers immediately cuffed the man.
Scarface didn’t panic. Instead, he laughed in fury. "Very good. You’ve just made the worst possible choice."
"Lin Chao, take him away! Interrogate him thoroughly!" Chen Bo commanded coldly.
He used to be a gangster with no choice. Now he was a police chief, and he chose to be a good man. How could he let a criminal like this run rampant in his presence?
But just then, a loud explosion rocked the building from outside, followed by the sound of gunfire. Chaos instantly erupted.
Chen Bo, Lin Chao, and Tan Ming were stunned.
The next moment, the door was kicked open, and two men in police uniforms stormed in.
The police captain who had escorted Scarface in shouted, "You’re not officers from this precinct!"
He was right. The two men weren’t. They immediately opened fire on the captain, a spray of bullets erupting in a shower of blood.
The scene left Lin Chao, Tan Ming, and Chen Bo in utter shock.
How could these people be so brazen? Daring to infiltrate a place like this?
Then, the two gunmen turned their weapons on the three of them.
Lin Chao’s reactions were sharp. He threw himself forward, tackling Tan Ming and Chen Bo to the ground with all his might. But as the gunmen opened fire, blossoms of blood still erupted across their backs.
The two men then grabbed Scarface and retreated, walking out as if nothing had happened. More of their people were waiting outside, all of them having infiltrated the station in disguise.
They regrouped and made a quick escape.
As he left, Scarface shot a disdainful glance back at Chen Bo and the others in the office. He’d told them—accepting the gift was the better choice.
Why hadn’t they believed him?
Now, he would wait and see who else dared to continue investigating this case.
