The moment Sabre saw the young man step outside, he waved to him.
When Dean did the same, he came down the steps leading to the building and managed to reach Sabre’s side.
He could see quite clearly that the people around him were looking at him with curiosity.
Well, of course, he wasn’t much different himself.
Apart from Sabre, whom he didn’t know, there were eleven other people.
It seemed that every single person from the dungeon was here.
Many of them were covered in grease. It was quite clear that they had already started working. Yet it had only been a few hours since they’d entered the dungeon.
To be honest, that was quite admirable.
Even though they were just trying to stay alive, at least they were putting in a great deal of effort.
"Where are you off to now?" Sabre had asked politely.
Dean had replied, "Eastwards; I’m off to rent a villa."
When Sabre heard these words, he stared at Dean with his mouth agape and asked, "Seriously?"
Dean simply shook his head.
To be honest, he knew he had to go east, but he didn’t have the coordinates for where he needed to go.
So, looking at Sabre, who was staring at him with her mouth agape, and the others whose eyes were wide with surprise, he asked, "Could you show me the way?"
Sabre nodded immediately.
To put it plainly, Dean hadn’t come across anyone with a ’bad’ heart so far.
So, although he was keeping his guard up, he had no trust issues.
Sabre, too, was one of those people without an evil heart.
So Dean had got lucky once again.
It couldn’t be said that the other people around him were quite the same, but they couldn’t really be called bad people either.
Besides, that shouldn’t have been anyone’s concern, neither Dean’s nor anyone else’s.
After all, every sheep hangs by its own leg.
Sabre had headed straight ahead and, in no time at all, led Dean to the eastern part of the city where the shipyard was located.
Star City was, quite literally, ENORMOUS.
Whilst it had taken two hours just to explore 20% of the shipyard itself, getting to the eastern part of the city had taken nearly six hours.
Of course, this journey had been made on foot.
There were many routes to take when moving around the city.
Sabre had been showing Dean the city and had recommended walking the entire way to familiarise him with at least the eastern side and everything along that route.
Whilst other people had gone back to their own business, for Sabre, who was, after all, a permanent player, it was quite natural to be able to wander about at his leisure.
Every ghost who saw him would greet him, a smile appearing on their faces.
It was quite clear that this man with golden hair was a source of joy.
Just as Dean was beginning to think he could trust this man he was following, at least for the time being, their journey came to an end, and they had indeed managed to reach the eastern part of the city.
As soon as they reached the eastern side, Sabre personally took the young man by the arm and led him to the area where the company that handled the city’s best rental and purchase deals was located.
Come to think of it, the whole situation was a bit too comical.
Well, of course, this was the Nether-Realm.
It was one of the three main realms.
It was hell itself.
And yet, this place was, in every sense, no different from the real world, the Earth-Realm.
You could see everything here: companies, capitalism, homelessness, war and the like.
It might even have been more accurate to view this as a tragicomedy rather than a normal comedy.
Of course, this wasn’t something that influenced Dean’s story from start to finish.
It could simply be said that... capitalism was by the young man’s side.
Dean was now the one leading the way, as he was the one with business on the eastern front.
As soon as they entered the company building, perhaps over a hundred ’ghosts’ had bowed before the pair.
It was quite remarkable to have so many employees.
Indeed, as Sabre had said, this must be a rather good company.
"Sabre!!!"
Dean had heard the man beside him being called by name and had turned his head instantly.
Standing nearly ten metres away was a heavyset man with a bald patch in the middle of his head, greasy hair, and long, curled moustaches, looking just like one of those classic bosses you’d see in old cartoon series.
Dean couldn’t help but chuckle.
This ghost was, in fact, the spitting image of the characters he’d seen on the TV cartoons he used to watch at the orphanage.
"Boss!!!" Sabre had shouted.
Dean could feel his eardrums vibrating.
The man had walked straight over to the pair and given Sabre a huge hug.
"It’s good to see you again, son!" the man had said happily.
Sabre had responded in kind.
The pair had chatted for perhaps two minutes, completely ignoring Dean.
Dean, clearly unable to take it any longer, had coughed softly: "Cough..."
Sabre then turned to him and said, "Ah! I’m sorry, Mr Decanus. I haven’t seen the boss for a long time, so I got a bit carried away," regaining his composure before introducing the pair:
"This is the owner of Star Builder, the company we’re with, and the person who previously entrusted me with a special assignment: Mr Liam Sun."
"This young man, meanwhile, is a tycoon who has become legendary within the Earth-Realm; rumour has it he possesses millions of Nether and Aether coins. His name is Decanus."
As the two shook hands, the man introduced as Liam tugged at one of his curled ghostly moustaches and then asked, "A tycoon, huh?"
Dean might normally have regarded Sabre’s behaviour as rude. Yet he had so much money that he really didn’t care one bit.
On the contrary, if it meant he could be comfortable, he had even agreed to pay a fortune for the villa he was going to rent.
And that was exactly what he was going to do.
The villas here... would bring him more benefits than he had anticipated.
Just like... the right connections.
Within barely five minutes, the young man had been seated in a very comfortable armchair in a private office and was served a few snacks and drinks that could be considered a luxury even within the Nether-Realm.
Liam sat down in the armchair directly opposite him, whilst Sabre took one of the chairs beside them.
The conversation didn’t last very long.
To be honest, Dean had made numerous requests, and Liam had agreed to every single one.
The young man wanted to live as well as possible whilst he was here.
He was aware of the tasks he’d been given.
Three of the four objectives he’d been given involved carrying timber. And, of course, that meant he’d get tired.
Which meant he deserved the best.
After thirty minutes had passed, Dean had written the sum he would accept as payment on the piece of paper he’d been given.
Liam was stunned by this sum.
The price Dean had written on the paper was exactly 7,000,000 Nether and Aether coins.
That... was truly an incredible amount of money.
Although this was a villa rental and sales company, they didn’t normally make that sort of money.
The ghosts in Nether... were generally quite stingy. Regardless of whether they were rich or poor, they were made up of poor people.
And of course, that meant no one would ever see such a large sum of money in one place.
Well, to say ’no one’ wouldn’t exactly be correct.
After all, the closer one got to the centre, the poorer the poor became, whilst the rich reached... quite literally, UBER levels of wealth.
It was very possible to witness daily auctions, land purchases and sales, civil wars over money, and all manner of such things as one headed towards the centre.
Even so, for Star City, located on the Nether-Realm’s third outer frontier, the mere presence of such wealth meant being rich.
Liam had jumped to his feet instantly.
Yet his appearance... or rather, his behaviour, was about to change drastically.
The old ghost had immediately rushed to Dean’s side, dropped to his knees, and prostrated himself at his feet.
Dean tried to make sense of what was happening and, at the same time, couldn’t help but shout, "Please, calm down!"
This man... Liam was definitely a far worse ghost than Urdur.
By the time Liam finally came to his senses, Dean had even started to sweat.
The young man didn’t know what to say.
You could see the embarrassment on old Liam’s face.
Dean must not have wanted to spend too much time here, as he pulled out seven banknotes totalling a million from the system and handed them to the elderly man.
With the necessary contracts signed, Dean was now ready for anything.
He would start work tomorrow.
Even so, despite being a permanent player, everything was going to happen much faster than he’d imagined.
