I Conquer Hell and Heaven With 666 Trillion Coins
Chapter 58: Fight For Your Life (1)In the blink of an eye, he’d drawn his spear from his soul and, to top it all, pressed the button on his Pocket Watch once more:
"Tick--"
These didn’t look like ordinary angels. It was clear they were hunters, but their gaze, and even the things they were wearing, made them look terrifying.
They were all clad in black leather armour; at least they weren’t wearing heavy armour.
They wore masks covering their faces. Each held a different weapon, and most importantly... there was not the slightest trace of fear in any of their eyes.
The tallest man among them stepped forward. He carried a massive black bow slung over his shoulder.
He smiled slightly from beneath his mask.
"Interesting..."
He turned his gaze directly towards Dean.
"So the reports were true, then."
Dean’s heart felt as though it might stop for a moment.
"Reports?" asked the leader of the friendly angels.
The man tilted his head slightly.
"We’d heard that someone had killed the heavily armoured angels we’d sent out, and quite recently at that. As we can see from the man before us, it’s clear what and who did it..." the man said.
"So it really did happen," the man added.
At those words, an icy shiver ran down Dean’s spine.
The tall enemy angel in front took a few more slow steps. The faint energy radiating from the black bow on his shoulder was even making the air around him tremble.
Dean, meanwhile, gripped his spear tightly with both hands. He scanned the more than two dozen enemy angels standing before him.
His instincts were telling him one thing.
These... were unlike any group of enemies they had faced so far.
The tall enemy angel’s gaze suddenly locked onto the spear in Dean’s hand.
At first, he or rather, ’it’ said nothing. It merely examined it carefully. Then its eyes narrowed slowly.
"Interesting."
One of the angels beside it had also looked at the spear and, a few seconds later, spoke in astonishment.
"Commander..."
"This sacred, holy energy..."
The tall angel finished his sentence.
"It’s not normal. Not in the slightest."
For the first time, a hint of surprise, however slight, could be detected in his voice. He then turned his gaze towards Dean.
"Now I understand."
Percival furrowed his brow.
"What?"
The enemy angel gave a dismissive smile.
"How you killed that patrol we sent."
Although Dean was unaware of it, the spear in his hand was ceaselessly radiating pure holy energy into its surroundings.
This energy far exceeded the level that an ordinary holy weapon could emit. After all, it was an S-Grade item.
So much so that all the enemy angels facing him could clearly sense it.
The tall enemy angel spoke without taking his eyes off Dean:
"That weapon..."
"It doesn’t matter where you found it."
"But it won’t belong to you any longer."
One of the other enemy angels standing beside him leaned forward slightly.
"Commander," he said.
"Give the order," said another.
"Let’s take the human alive," replied the tall angel whom the enemies addressed as their commander.
Dean’s eyes narrowed involuntarily.
Alive?
So their aim wasn’t to kill him.
No. Their aim, just as their commander had said, was to seize the spear in his hand.
The tall enemy angel continued to scrutinise Dean for a few seconds.
"Do not damage the weapon," said the ’commander’.
"As for a human..." he had added.
"You can do whatever you like, as long as you don’t sever his arms and legs," he had said, bringing his speech to an abrupt end.
His voice was so calm that his words sounded all the more chilling. Dean could feel every single hair on his body standing on end.
It was as if he were giving a routine order. He’d spoken as though it were something that happened all the time.
Dean’s fingers tightened even further around the spear.
Percival, meanwhile, had stepped half a step forward.
His massive frame completely shielded Dean behind him.
"You shall not approach my master."
The enemy angel tilted his head slightly.
"A low-level ghost...How funny," said one of the enemies.
"Truly interesting. At least you’re trying to protect your master. That’s commendable."
Then he shrugged slightly.
"But that no longer matters," he said.
"That weapon will be ours," added another.
Dean’s mind was racing.
"They don’t recognise me. I’m not the one they’re after. What they want... is this spear. Still, I can’t give it to them."
Just then, one of the soldiers behind the enemy angel spread his wings slightly.
"This chat has gone on long enough. Let’s finish the job."
The moment the wings opened, intense holy energy began to radiate simultaneously from the backs of all the other enemy angels.
All two dozen enemy angels had assumed their battle stances at the same time.
Percival, too, had raised his spear forward, shifting his weight onto his front foot.
"We won’t retreat."
The friendly angels beside him had raised their weapons without uttering a single word.
Each was ready to fight to the death.
There were only twenty metres between the two sides.
The wind within the wooded area rustled the half-dead leaves, whilst a deathly silence reigned between the two sides.
No one was making the first move.
But everyone knew.
This silence... would end the moment one person moved.
The tall enemy angel slowly raised his right hand. The wind had shifted his thread-like mask ever so slightly, revealing the smile on his face in full.
At that moment, he lowered his fingers slightly and gave the order:
"Attack."
The moment the order was given, eleven enemy angels leapt from the ground simultaneously.
As the earth crumbled beneath their feet, they charged towards them at lightning speed.
Percival did not hesitate for a moment either.
"Protect Decanus! He must not die here, no matter what!!!"
As nine friendly angels charged forward simultaneously, Percival had firmly established his own position to shield Dean directly.
The barrier around Dean was something he could constantly renew. At the very least, he had something to protect himself with, if only for a short while.
As Moon’s Rope instantly wrapped around his arm, Dean had taken up his stance, gripping his spear with both hands.
The distance between the two sides had closed in the blink of an eye.
In the very next second...
The battle had resumed.
Arrows flew one after another, whizzing past Dean; some struck Percival and the others, yet none pierced their skin.
Percival’s skin, in particular, had been strengthened by mana essence itself. His mana energy was far purer than that of the others.
That was why he couldn’t die instantly.
This... was a good thing.
