I Conquer Hell and Heaven With 666 Trillion Coins
Chapter 69: Harry Lawrance (1)Harry Lawrance, a middle-aged man covered in scars and looking rather rough, was standing face to face with Raviel Evergold himself.
It was plain to see that sweat was pouring down Harry’s face.
The mere fact that Raviel was standing right in front of him seemed to terrify the middle-aged man.
Raviel wasn’t radiating any energy, nor was her behaviour particularly out of the ordinary.
The young woman had only managed to briefly find out who Harry was, how he’d managed to find his way here, and how he knew Decanus’s name.
What’s more, one sentence Harry had uttered had, it could be said, caught Raviel’s attention to a great extent.
[I hadn’t anticipated any of this would happen whilst introducing Decanus to the forum.]
Within the twenty minutes or so they’d been talking, Raviel had managed to get a sense of what sort of person Harry was.
By learning where he’d met Dean, Raviel had succeeded in obtaining, directly from Harry, every piece of information she’d been unable to get from Percival himself.
Of course, Harry hadn’t understood why Dean had ended up with such a serious injury; when Raviel brought this up, a look of utter astonishment had already spread across the middle-aged man’s face.
Even so, Raviel frankly didn’t trust this middle-aged man sitting opposite her... not one bit. Not even in the closest sense.
Of course, despite all this, she had to tell the truth.
If it hadn’t been for Harry, it was highly likely they might never even have heard of Dean’s name, or rather, the name he’d given himself: Decanus.
And even if they had, it might well have been much later.
"I’m not the one you need to be talking to. You must have some idea of who I am," Raviel had said suddenly.
When Harry heard these words, he shook his head up and down.
The beads of sweat trickling down the man’s forehead were increasing by the minute.
"You are Raviel Evergold," Harry had said.
Raviel wasn’t surprised by these words. Her face was already known to many people around the world. It made no difference whether they were rich or poor.
The Evergold family had always been among the very few at the top, in every sense of the word.
"So you can well imagine what might happen to you if you make any mistake regarding what I’m capable of, Mr Lawrance," Raviel had said suddenly.
Harry immediately shook his head quickly, several times.
Upon seeing this, Raviel said, "Very well, if you are fully aware of the situation and can understand Mr Decanus’s standing in our eyes, there is no point in us telling you anything further. As his employer, it would be appropriate for you to speak with him."
Dean, meanwhile, had already finished his training and entered the castle.
Upon doing so, he was met directly by Liam himself.
"Master, someone called Harry is waiting for you in the guest meeting room. May I accompany you there?"
At Liam’s question, Dean looked at him carefully and said, "So he has arrived," before beginning to follow the elderly butler.
As soon as they reached the guest meeting room, the door opened, and Dean stepped inside.
When he saw Raviel sitting there looking so serious, he had to struggle not to burst out laughing.
Raviel must have noticed this, for that serious expression vanished instantly, replaced by a softer one.
"Sorry, Harry, I’m quite sweaty. I’ve been training, you know?" said Dean before sitting down in a chair.
The moment Harry saw Dean, his expression changed instantly.
Dean had noticed this too, and it didn’t take him long to realise why.
"Too young?" Dean had muttered suddenly.
"Sorry, sir?" Harry had asked.
"You think I’m too young, don’t you?" Dean had added.
Harry, however, had merely nodded, albeit somewhat sheepishly.
Dean simply smiled again and asked, "Your family?"
Harry replied immediately, "They’re in the nearby village, sir. I didn’t know if you’d actually accept me or not, so I didn’t bring them here."
After hearing this, Dean rolled his eyes and turned to Raviel, saying, "Please find out from Harry where his family is staying and bring them here. This is their new home. I’ll leave the moving arrangements and suchlike to your discretion."
Raviel nodded immediately and said, "I’ll do as you wish, Dean," and got the names from Harry.
As soon as Raviel left the room, Dean began to list the things he wanted from Harry himself:
"As long as you are not drawn into Cosmic Terror, every single person in this castle will be under your protection. There will be times when you won’t sleep, eat or drink for days on end. Your task will be to protect everyone here."
"When the time comes, people who do not like me will emerge. There’s no need to deny this; it’s one of life’s realities. That’s why those under my command must be entrusted to you."
"If you accept these terms, I shall provide you with a salary. This salary will consist of both Nether and Aether coins and physical currency. If you do not accept, you will still have a job, though the salary will not be the same, and of course, the opportunities available to you will not be the same either."
When Dean finally finished speaking, as expected, Harry had raised no objections. He had clearly stated that he accepted the deal outright, yet one thing he said had greatly surprised Dean:
"Sir, might I ask what you mean by being ’drawn into Cosmic Terror’?"
When Dean heard this question, he rolled his eyes and muttered, "I’m talking about dungeons appearing at random and pulling you in."
Harry’s eyes widened at that moment, and the middle-aged man blurted out, "Sir... You know you can refuse to enter the game, right?"
When Dean heard these words, he simply swallowed hard. What could he say in a moment like this?
Who could have imagined that it was possible to refuse the game itself...That was madness...
