Maelor’s breath slowed, the golden mana along his scabbard gradually receding as he processed Jack’s words.

The King turned his gaze toward the center of the hall, looking upon Rhys for the first time since the slaughter had begun.

Rhys stood amidst the blood and shattered stone, his posture tall and straight as if the massacre was nothing new to him.

For decades, the silence between father and son had been an ocean of political compromise.

Maelor had looked away when Rhys was beaten in the academy yards; Maelor had signed the decrees that denied Rhys the royal surname to appease the eight votes Morvana controlled on the Council.

Rhys met his father’s eyes.

There was no rage in the young prince’s expression, no petty vindication, and no childish resentment. There was only the cold, unyielding maturity of a man who had walked through the fires of the Spire, fought Disaster-class sentinels in the deeps, and emerged on the other side as an undisputed master of his own destiny.

"Rhys," Maelor spoke, his deep voice carrying a rare, raw fracture of emotion that the ancient King had not shown in centuries.

"For years, I allowed the laws of this court to blind me. I allowed their poisoned traditions to keep you in the dirt while I harbored snakes in my own bed. I thought I was preserving the kingdom... but I was merely preserving my own cowardice."

Rhys stepped forward, stopping at the base of the dais stairs. He looked upon the ancient King, his voice steady, carrying the calm authority of the new era.

"You were bound by an empire of lies, Father," Rhys said, his words clear and devoid of bitterness. "The purebloods built a cage from paper and tradition, and you believed the bars were unbreakable. But Jack showed us that paper burns. The past decades no longer matter. What matters is the kingdom we forge from the ash."

Maelor’s broad chest rose and fell, a faint, proud smile breaking through the grim lines of his scarred face.

The King gave his son a single, firm nod of respect.

Not as a monarch addressing a bastard, but as a sovereign recognizing his equal.

Maelor turned back to Jack, the administrative discipline of a ruler reasserting itself over the court.

"The New Council is already assembled in the West Annex," Maelor stated, his voice returning to its resonant, commanding cadence. "The loyalist elders of the southern provinces. My personal guard has briefed them and are ready to sign the moment we present the charters."

"Good," Jack replied, stepping down from the dais. "The narrative must be firm. On the public ledgers and in the announcements to the populace, Queen Morvana and the old Council will be officially recorded as having orchestrated high treason against the Crown. The Bloodrush narcotic, the illegal harvesting of citizens, and the manufactured border conflicts with Krogar will be laid entirely at their feet."

Jack looked toward the shattered doors of the chamber.

"The official history will record that King Maelor, with the direct intervention of the Elysium Emissary and the unmatched martial prowess of his true son and champion, Prince Rhys, uncovered the conspiracy and executed the corrupt Council for their crimes within this very hall.

This clears the Crown of all culpability, justifies the emergency succession, and provides the orcs of Krogar with the political justification to sign a permanent peace treaty."

"It shall be done precisely as you have outlined," Maelor agreed firmly. "I will oversee the signing in the annex immediately."

"Go," Jack said. "Set the new order in stone. I have one final matter to conclude in this hall before we proceed."

King Maelor gave Jack a final, respectful nod, turning to lead his royal guard through the grand side doors toward the West Annex, leaving the center of the hall clear.

Jack turned his gaze back to the floor.

There lay the ruined, four-armed torso of the Blue Demon, bleeding out onto the shattered marble tiles.

Jack walked slowly toward the fallen entity, stopping right before the massive indigo face.

He raised his right hand, dark mana condensing along the edges of his fingers, weaving into a razor-thin, spatial blade meant to cleanly sever the demon’s skull from its neck and shatter its remaining core into lifeless ash.

Before the blow could fall, the ambient mana around the demon shifted violently.

The creature’s agonizing, shallow breathing ceased entirely.

The blue demon’s mangled torso relaxed, and the milky, lightless glaze in its single eye vanished, replaced by an ancient, terrifying aura.

The air in the chamber grew impossibly dense, carrying the suffocating, magnetic weight of an ancient abyss that transcended the local dungeon’s simple corruption.

When the demon’s mouth opened, it was no longer the deep-sea, guttural voice of an abyssal warlord.

It was a refined, resonant, and ancient voice that vibrated not through the air, but directly along the foundational layers of Jack Kaiser’s own soul.

"How fascinating," the voice purred through the demon’s indigo lips, carrying an amused warmth wrapped in suffocating malice. "The son of Ophion... walking the mortal dirt, slaughtering his own kind."

Jack’s hand paused an inch above the demon’s forehead.

His face betrayed no shock, but deep within his core, the dormant spark of his primordial bloodline pulsed.

"You wear the mantle of a mortal conqueror," the voice continued, chuckling with low, dark amusement as the possessed demon’s head tilted slightly, its crimson eye locking onto Jack’s face.

"Yet you carry the very essence of the Shattered Kings, boy. Tell me... does your mortal mind even comprehend what you are executing today? Or are you simply a blind hound dancing on the strings of the Spire, completely ignorant of the throne you are clearing?"

Jack lowered his hand slightly, leaning down until his heterochromic eyes were inches from the burning, crimson iris.

"I know exactly whose throne I am clearing," Jack replied, in an intimate tone. "And I know the stench permeating off of your body. Watching through the eyes of broken toys, wondering when the bill comes due."

The crimson eye narrowed with subtle, intrigued amusement.

"You have your father’s arrogance. But arrogance in the deeps is merely kindling for the furnace. The Shattered Kings will not welcome a mongrel who plays at being a savior to mortal elves. When you ascend past the seventieth tier, you will find that blood is the only currency that matters... and yours is heavily in debt."

Jack’s lips parted in a cold, unyielding smile.

"Don’t worry," Jack whispered, his voice vibrating with absolute, chilling certainty. "I’ll remember your voice when I find you, demon."

A low, mocking laugh bubbled past the demon’s lips, resonant and deep. "I look forward to seeing if the pup has teeth..."

SLASH.

Jack didn’t let him finish the word.

His spatial blade tore cleanly through the Blue Demon’s forehead, bisecting the brain and crushing the underlying mana core into gray, lifeless ash.

The crimson-gold light vanished instantly, leaving only the cold, dead husk of the abyssal warlord on the floor.

Jack stood upright, wiping a stray speck of gray ash from his sleeve.

"Ren," Jack commanded, his voice returning to its crisp, flat tone. "Take the sow to the castle holding cells. Ensure she is prepped for transport to the Krogar envoys."

"Understood, Master," Ren replied smoothly from the edge of the dais.

With a single, effortless motion, Ren seized the chain attached to Queen Morvana’s iron collar, hauling the broken, weeping monarch off the floor and dragging her through the side doors like a condemned beast destined for the western wastes.
