Hearing Li Xilun’s words, the others finally remembered Elder Monk Huiming.
"That old monk... there’s something sinister about him."
Zhang Qiang said grimly.
"Right... Now that I think about it, that old monk was really strange. He’s obviously the only living person left in this temple, but he told us there were many other monks!"
The more Li Da thought about it, the more frightened he became.
While the men were gripped by terror, they failed to notice the noblewoman and the Guards behind them, whose faces suddenly twisted into strange smiles.
The noblewoman in particular, whose fingernails grew long, black, and purple. She silently moved behind Li Xida, her right hand forming a blade as she stabbed directly at his back.
But at that very moment, Han Yuan spun around. With a smooth motion, he drew the Dragon Sparrow Cloud-Splitting Saber from his back and swung it in a wide arc.
A sharp whistle of wind suddenly cut through the side hall.
Eight Extremes·Shattering Wind Slash!
SQUELCH~
The noblewoman let out a wretched scream as the Dragon Sparrow Cloud-Splitting Saber sliced her in two at the waist.
Confused, Li Da, Zhang Qiang, and Li Xilun turned around.
Li Xilun, in particular, was scared out of his wits when he turned and saw the two halves of the corpse on the ground.
Then, he saw a boot stomp down hard on the noblewoman’s head.
Like crushing a watermelon.
SPLAT!
Blood and brains splattered everywhere, even staining his own pant leg.
"You..."
Li Xilun stared at Han Yuan, his eyes filled with terror.
But then he saw the two Guards with their strange expressions and seemed to understand.
The next moment, Han Yuan stomped his foot hard on the floor.
BOOM!!
As the floorboards shattered, he unleashed a vicious, cold flash of his saber, cleaving down hard on one of the Guards!
The Guard’s head was split clean in two.
He then spun into a roundhouse kick.
The other Guard was charging at Han Yuan with a saber, and the kick caught him right in the knee.
CRACK!
The Guard dropped to his knees.
Han Yuan grinned and brought his elbow crashing down.
CRUNCH!
Another head was crushed like a watermelon!
This brutal, bloody scene made Li Da and the other two’s hearts pound in their chests, terrified that Han Yuan would smash their own heads next.
"What are you standing around in a daze for?"
"Let’s go."
Han Yuan said calmly after finishing off the two Guards.
His words snapped Li Da and the others out of their stupor, and they hurried to follow him.
"Sir... how did you know there was something wrong with that woman and the Guards?"
Li Da asked quietly as they walked.
"It’s simple. Earlier, in the plaza before the main hall, I saw that the three of them didn’t have shadows."
Han Yuan said calmly.
Hearing this, Li Da gasped.
"Sir, what do we do now?"
Zhang Qiang couldn’t help but ask.
"Find the one pulling the strings and kill them."
Han Yuan said with a slight smile.
"But... shouldn’t we leave this place first?"
Zhang Qiang asked timidly.
"You don’t have to follow me."
Han Yuan chuckled.
Hearing this, Zhang Qiang immediately fell silent.
Han Yuan led them toward the main hall’s plaza.
He wasn’t heading out of Huian Temple, however. His gaze was fixed on the Buddha Hall.
Carrying a lantern, Han Yuan went straight up the steps and into the Buddha Hall.
Although Li Da and the other two were terrified, the thought of not being near Han Yuan was even more frightening. So, they could only bite the bullet and follow him.
The great doors of the Buddha Hall weren’t shut tight, so Han Yuan didn’t need to kick them down this time. He simply walked right in.
The inside of the Buddha Hall was steeped in darkness.
By the dim, yellow light of his lantern, Han Yuan saw a desiccated corpse in a yellow monk’s robe enshrined in the depths of the Buddha Hall.
He moved closer and saw that the mummy’s facial features were nearly identical to Elder Monk Huiming’s.
"So this is the so-called Flesh Body Buddha."
Zhang Qiang stared at the mummy, his expression fraught with tension.
"So, it’s likely this old geezer is the reason Huian Temple ended up this way," Han Yuan said thoughtfully.
As he spoke, his expression suddenly grew vacant.
He felt his body grow weak—so weak he couldn’t even speak.
Then, he heard voices.
"If we make this old geezer into a Flesh Body Buddha, our temple will be blessed with endless donations!"
"Don’t blame us. If you have to blame someone, blame yourself for being so old and refusing to die!"
"Quick! Get him into the urn!"
Then, Han Yuan’s vision went black. His surroundings felt increasingly oppressive and cramped, as if he’d been sealed inside a container.
Then came the suffocation. The air in the container thinned. An overwhelming pressure built as it became harder and harder to breathe, and Han Yuan felt as if his lungs would explode.
"So that’s what happened... It seems you were forced into becoming a Flesh Body Buddha."
Han Yuan seemed to have understood something. An extremely violent will suddenly erupted in his mind!
It was a demonic will—incomparably furious, extreme, one that sought to trample even the heavens underfoot!
The Innate Great Demon Scripture began to circulate rapidly within Han Yuan’s body, allowing him to break free from the illusion.
When clarity returned to his vision, Han Yuan looked toward the Flesh Body Buddha.
As for Li Da and the others, they had already fainted on the floor.
At that moment, the Flesh Body Buddha began to move.
Its two desiccated eyeballs stared intently at Han Yuan as it let out a horrified cry.
"You are a Demon!!!"
Han Yuan laughed heartily. "So what if I’m a Demon? You’re an Evil Spirit!"
"Yes... I AM an Evil Spirit!!!"
"I will become an Evil Spirit, and I will turn every last one of those bastards into a Flesh Body Buddha!"
Elder Monk Huiming let out a maniacal laugh.
The next moment, he leaped up from the sacrificial Magic Altar, becoming a black shadow as his withered, blackened palm shot forward.
Han Yuan didn’t draw his saber. Instead, he channeled the immense power within him and threw a Mountain-Breaking Fist!
BAM~
The instant fist met palm.
The two figures shot apart like cannonballs, landing a dozen meters away from each other.
’This old monk... he’s pretty strong.’
Han Yuan took a deep breath.
"Your physical body is so formidable. I imagine it will be perfect once it’s made into a Flesh Body Buddha."
Elder Monk Huiming cackled madly.
The next moment, his body swelled, growing to the size of a normal man. His muscles bulged and his face became ferocious, transforming him into something resembling a Demon Arhat!
"Big words. In a moment, I’ll grind you to dust."
Han Yuan cracked his neck.
The next moment, Elder Monk Huiming appeared before Han Yuan, his hands a flurry of strikes.
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH~~
His explosive power was immense. In an instant, the air filled with a storm of palm afterimages.
Han Yuan’s eyes blazed with fighting spirit. He still didn’t draw his blade, but instead let terrifying Divine Power erupt from his arms as he unleashed a barrage of Giant Spirit Monument-Opening Hands!
BANG BANG BANG!!!
Fists and palms collided in a frenzy.
Each impact was a terrifying clash of power, sending out shockwave after shockwave.
BAM~
Han Yuan suddenly put his full force behind a single Hand Blade, bringing it down on Elder Monk Huiming’s left shoulder with the force of a thunderbolt!
BOOM!!!
His opponent’s body was incredibly tough. The shoulder blade didn’t break, but the floorboards beneath his feet exploded outward.
Huiming roared, preparing to counterattack.
But Han Yuan’s attack pattern shifted abruptly. He leaped into the air and viciously slammed a Heart-Piercing Kick into his opponent’s chest.
BAM!
Huiming shot backward like a meteor, crashing through the wall of the Buddha Hall.
