They collected the limestone on the way back. The moment they reached the shelter, Ethan gestured at his belongings.
"Do you need anything here? If so, just take it."
He couldn’t accept the cauldron and the Holy Nail for nothing.
"Hmm... could you make me a few bowls like that one?"
"A bowl? This one?"
"Yeah, just a bit bigger than the ones you’re using. Most of mine are broken."
"No problem. I’ll have them ready next time you come."
"No rush. Take your time."
Zharok grinned, shrugged, and turned to go. He pointed at the field, his voice going gentle.
"You should focus on your farming first."
"Don’t worry. I’ll farm seriously without you telling me."
"Good. I’m off, then."
A lazy wave, and he sprinted off as quickly as he’d arrived.
Ethan picked up the Holy Nail and studied it.
"What are you going to do with that, meow?"
"Hard to say yet... First, a few proper pieces of pottery."
He took up his saw and stone axe and headed into the forest. His earlier work had been rough — but after receiving gifts that precious, he couldn’t afford to be sloppy anymore.
"What are you going to make, meow?"
"I want to try making a pottery wheel. Pearl, I’ll need your help."
"Help with what, meow?"
"Spinning the wheel."
Ethan sketched a rough design in the dirt — a circular turntable on a fixed stand, a spinning mechanism above — then gave Pearl a brilliant smile.
"You’ll have to run really hard. Is that okay?"
"A piece of cake, meow!"
"Alright! Once we’re done, I’ll make you something delicious!"
Deal!
He patted Pearl’s head, then felled a suitably sized tree. With the saw and his glass knife, he cut and sanded the trunk, and before long a simple pottery wheel stood finished.
"Phew. That’s about it."
"Let me try, meow!"
Ethan secured the wheel and set a lump of clay dead center on the turntable. While he wet the clay and adjusted its position, Pearl leapt aboard.
"Woo-meow-meow-meow-meow!!"
Pearl ran flat-out, and the wheel spun into a blur. Riding the centrifugal force, Ethan’s hands shaped the clay swiftly.
"Done."
The wheel had cut the working time dramatically. A respectable bowl sat finished, and Pearl hopped to a stop, tail wagging.
"Done already, meow?!"
"Aren’t you tired?"
"This is nothing, meow!"
It really didn’t look tired at all.
’Then let’s make another one.’
Ethan set the bowl aside and started the next — this time a large bowl, sized for a beastman.
"Meow-ahhhhhh!!"
To the sound of Pearl’s battle cry, the wheel spun wildly, and the big bowl took shape in no time. When it was finally done, Pearl hopped down, thoroughly spent this time.
"A few more like this, and we can trade them with the others."
"It felt a bit stiff when it spun, meow."
"The bearings probably need more oil... we’ll worry about improvements later. How about I try making a wheel with the Crafting skill?"
He dismantled his makeshift wheel and activated Crafting.
[Well-crafted Pottery Wheel]

"Oh. It worked."
A Well-crafted pottery wheel, just like that. Ethan looked it over with a satisfied smile.
Pearl pointed at the clay blanks beginning to dry. "Are we bisque firing them right away, meow?"
"Of course. And it’s about time we ate, too."
"I agree, meow!!"
At the mention of food, Pearl cheered.
Ethan threw together a simple dinner. By the time they’d eaten and washed the bowls, the kiln fire had burned low. He checked the temperature, opened the kiln, and drew out the bisque-fired pottery. Not a crack or flaw anywhere — fine work all around.
He glazed the blanks and returned them to the kiln.
"I’m so looking forward to this, meow! If it fails, it just turns into shards, right, meow?"
"Then we make more. Early to bed tonight — we’re in the field tomorrow morning."
"Meow-woo!"
The next day, Ethan woke the moment the kiln fire went out and hurried over to check the results.
"Oh..."

"Ah?"
The ceramics gleamed white and flawless as jade. Staring at them and at the notifications crowding his vision, Ethan was struck speechless. He hadn’t expected to make something this good.
"This is good stuff, meow!"
"Yeah."
"Are you giving it away, meow?"
"Of course. I made it as a gift in the first place."
He carried the new ceramics into the shelter, then patted Pearl’s head.
"I could only make something this good thanks to you. I’ll be counting on you again next time."
"Leave it to me, meow!!"
"What are you two so happy about this early in the morning?!"
A cheerful voice rang out. It was Vargan, walking over with a bag — and looking mildly baffled at the sight of a man and a cat clasping hand and paw.
"Come on in. Why so early?"
"Ah — this is for you."
Vargan opened the bag, revealing a fresh head of cabbage.
"It’s a Vitality Cabbage, meow!"
"What’s a Vitality Cabbage?"
"A cabbage that restores stamina when eaten, meow! Its leaves hold the power of spirits — an ordinary person can’t even pull it out of the ground, meow!"
"Oh? Really?"
"It’s very rare, and eating it replenishes stamina, so it’s an excellent tonic for beastmen recovering from serious illness, meow! But it restores stamina so rapidly that you have to be careful with the dosage and the cooking method, meow!"
"That’s right! Vitality Cabbage is usually given to sick beastmen!" Vargan added.
To think a cabbage this miraculous existed. While Ethan was still marveling, Vargan plucked a few tiny seeds from between the leaves.
"These are Vitality Cabbage seeds. I heard you humans are very good at farming — see if you can grow them."
"Oh... thank you so much."
"I also heard you’re growing Honey Sweet Potatoes and Sweet Beets! Make sure to share some with us later, alright?"
"You heard that from Zharok, didn’t you?"
"That’s right!"
So Zharok had connections with the kobold tribe as well.
Ethan accepted the seeds. Vargan glanced around the shelter — and froze when his eyes landed on the new ceramics.
"What is this?! It’s so beautiful!"
Eyes wide, Vargan leaned in to examine the pottery, seemingly afraid to even touch it — only tracing its shape in the air with his fingers. He circled it several times before letting out a long sigh.
"Wow... this is amazing! I bet no other beastman has bowls this beautiful!"
"That one’s for Zharok. And he helped me find this."
Ethan brought out the Holy Nail. Vargan took it, inspected it carefully, and nodded.
"This nail gives off an incredibly powerful aura!"
