"This is mana, when you can freely control it, you will be able to use magic."

Walter released Ethan’s hand, the tingling sensation gradually faded.

Just as Ethan felt a twinge of regret, Walter turned to look at Pearl. "You are a witch’s cat, correct?"

"That’s right, meow~" Pearl replied.

"Then you should know how to guide mana, yes? Help him guide his mana once a day from now on."

"No problem, meow~" It seemed that guiding mana was no difficult task for Pearl, it scratched its face with a paw while speaking.

Walter smiled in satisfaction and turned back to Ethan. "How does it feel?"

"It feels amazing, it’s as if my body has gained a power I’ve never felt before."

"You need to familiarize yourself with this feeling as quickly as possible, because learning other spells will also require mana." Walter was evidently planning to teach Ethan from the very basics.

He explained a few more cultivation methods before standing up. "That will be all for today."

"I can keep going..." Ethan tried to argue.

"Meals must be eaten one bite at a time, and a journey must be walked one step at a time, once you can freely control your mana, we will proceed to the next step of your training."

"Mhm... understood." Ethan nodded.

"Until then, I can come find you anytime, right? Ahem, of course, it’s not for the Moonlight Tomato juice," Walter added, looking a bit embarrassed.

"Can I choose not to make it for you then?" Ethan teased.

"Hmm... If you put it that way, of course I cannot refuse," Walter replied helplessly.

"Meow~ You’re being too obvious, meow~" Pearl mocked from the side, but Walter pretended not to hear.

Ethan smiled. "Don’t worry, I still have plenty of tomatoes." Besides, a new batch would be ready for harvest in just a few days.

"Then I’ll come back next time, practice well!" Walter waved his hand, turned, and left.

Ethan watched him go.

Zharok, who was lying on the ground, looked at Ethan and smiled. "Once you learn magic, you’ll become even stronger."

"Yeah," Ethan nodded.

"Later on, I’ll find a few magic books for you, what kind of magic do you want to learn?"

’Ice magic would be ideal, I want to make a freezer to store food, right now, my only option is to rely on the power of magic.’

"Preferably magic related to ice," Ethan said.

"Ice magic?" Zharok asked.

"Does that kind of magic exist?"

"Meow~ It does, meow, I’ve seen Lady Witch use it before, meow~" Pearl affirmed.

"That’s right, although elemental magic is relatively hard to learn, it does exist, I’ve encountered guys who used ice magic before," Zharok added.

’Great.’

Hope ignited in Ethan’s heart, he pointed to the food on the table.

"Let’s eat first." Because of Walter’s visit, they hadn’t finished their breakfast.

Seeing the Scrambled Eggs with Moonlight Tomatoes, Zharok and Pearl immediately perked up and buried their heads back into eating.

After breakfast, Zharok said he was going hunting and left, Ethan washed the dishes and took Pearl out to the fields.

Perhaps startled by their arrival, the birds in the field scattered into the air.

’Looks like I’ll have to use the Blood Jade Beast.’

Ethan took out the Blood Jade Ring and summoned the beast, it transformed into a scarecrow and stood right in the middle of the field.

"Meow? What’s this, meow?" Pearl asked curiously.

"It’s a scarecrow used to drive away birds."

Swoosh!!

As soon as he finished speaking, a bird dove down from the sky, attempting to attack, but the scarecrow waved its arm, shooting out a red beam that struck the bird, the bird let out a tragic cry and plummeted to the ground.

"Effective." It seemed the Blood Jade Beast could protect the fields just fine.

Ethan picked up his hoe with satisfaction and began planting tomatoes.

’I’ll be needing a lot of tomatoes in the future, so I should plant more.’

"Shouldn’t we go look for new crops, meow?" Pearl asked.

"You’re right." Ethan looked around the empty fields and fell into thought.

As if reading his mind, Pearl jumped onto his shoulder. "Let’s go foraging, meow?"

"Alright, we can gather some lunch on the way." Ethan returned to the shelter, grabbed some Honey Sweet Potatoes and Sweet Beets, then walked into the forest with Pearl.

"Meow, that’s a Spicy Onion, meow~" After walking for a while, Pearl pointed to a plant by the roadside.

Ethan walked over and examined it closely, it was a root plant that looked like an onion.

"Spicy Onion?"

"That’s right, meow, it has a unique spicy taste that makes it hard to swallow, meow, just like the Sun Mushroom, it gets spicier as it absorbs sunlight, so other animals and monsters don’t dare to eat it, meow~"

Ethan looked around, confirmed it was safe, then pulled up a Spicy Onion to observe it, its root looked like an onion, and its leaves looked like scallions, he pinched off a leaf and took a taste.

"Ugh..." A pungent, spicy flavor exploded in his mouth, several times spicier than the scallions on Earth, Ethan couldn’t help but marvel.

Pearl pointed at the root and said, "Spicy Onions turn sweet when heated, meow, so, races that use fire like to roast them, meow!"

"Is that so? Then I need to collect more of these." Many Spicy Onions were growing nearby, some of which had already gone to seed, he put the onions and their seeds into his leather bag and continued forward.

"Meow! Careful, meow! There’s movement ahead, meow!" Pearl’s fur stood on end as it stared vigilantly ahead.

Ethan checked the holy sword at his waist, readying himself, he carefully parted the tall grass and saw a massive beast guarding an old, dilapidated bridge.

"Meow! It’s a Gorathun, meow!" Pearl exclaimed.

"Gorathun?"

It was a one-eyed giant beast with four massive horns, resembling a bull but much more ferocious. Two sharp bone spikes grew from its back, and its six legs were thick and powerful — they looked as though they could crush anything.

"Careful, meow! Gorathuns show no mercy to any creature that displays hostility, meow!" Pearl warned.

"Isn’t it a monster?"

"It’s somewhere between a monster and a wild beast, meow, once it goes berserk, it will destroy everything around it, so do not provoke it, meow~"

"Understood, then..."

Ethan took a Honey Sweet Potato from his leather bag and tossed it over, the Gorathun opened its massive maw and swallowed it whole, after eating it, the beast turned to look at Ethan.

Pearl’s fur puffed up instantly, Ethan tightened his grip on the holy sword.

Right at that moment, the Gorathun stood up and began walking forward.

"What is it trying to do?" Ethan asked.

"Meow-meow, it seems to want us to follow it, meow," Pearl said.

The Gorathun walked to the edge of the bridge, glanced back at Ethan, and then continued forward, Pearl was right — it really wanted them to follow.

Ethan hesitated for a moment but decided to tail it, maintaining a safe distance, they followed the Gorathun a long way until they arrived in front of a massive tree.

"Meow, that’s a Butter Tree, meow!" Pearl said excitedly.
