"It’s done."

Looking at the freshly ground wheat flour in his hand, a smile appeared on Ethan’s face, although it was only coarsely ground, this meant his standard of living was about to take a leap.

"It’s ground so finely, meow, it seems the practice during this time hasn’t been in vain, meow~" Pearl, lying on Ethan’s shoulder, wagged its tail.

"Yeah, at this level, it can be considered top-grade among coarse wheat flour."

"Meow! Then what do we do next, meow?" Pearl asked.

"Well..."

Wheat flour had a wide variety of uses, and the best way to utilize its advantages was undoubtedly baking, Ethan examined the wheat flour in his hand and fell into thought.

Seeing this, Pearl couldn’t help but ask, "Meow, then are we eating bread for lunch today, meow?"

"No, we have to wait a few more days."

He shook his head, to make delicious bread, he first needed to make natural yeast, and making natural yeast required white wheat flour, which was much finer than coarse wheat flour.

"It seems my grinding technique still needs some improvement," Ethan sighed.

"Meow? Why does it need improvement, meow?" Pearl asked in confusion.

"Because we need to do the milling process," Ethan explained.

"What’s milling, meow?"

"It means removing the outer husk of the wheat grain and only keeping the white part inside, although we can make natural yeast with coarse wheat flour, the result will be much better using white wheat flour."

"Meow meow meow, then quickly take out the wheat grains, meow~"

As soon as the words left its mouth, Pearl nimbly jumped in front of Ethan, it closed its eyes and muttered, "Shatter, meow~"

Woo — buzz buzz buzz!!

Accompanied by a sharp whistling sound, the wheat grains in Ethan’s hand were sliced open by invisible blades of magic.

Unlike Ethan’s rough grinding, Pearl’s Shatter magic was incredibly precise, it stripped away only the outer husks and impurities, leaving behind plump, pure white kernels.

"Is this okay, meow?" Pearl proudly wagged its tail, claiming credit.

"Oh... oh wow, that’s amazing, when did you learn this trick?" Ethan asked in surprise.

"I learned it while practicing with you, meow, hmph hmph, I am the cat of the great Lady Witch, leave the magic stuff to me, meow!" Pearl said proudly.

"Then why didn’t you say you could do this earlier?" Ethan asked somewhat helplessly.

"Isn’t it good that you learned it too, meow~"

Pearl’s words made sense, having more skills never hurt — learning an extra craft was always a good thing, although Ethan’s grinding technique could only crush things into powder, it was surprisingly useful in cooking.

Besides, he couldn’t trouble Pearl to do the grinding every single time, right?

"Then I’ll leave the entire milling process to you!"

"Meow, leave it to me, meow!" Pearl patted its chest and promised.

Having solved the problem of milling, Ethan felt much more relaxed, he patted Pearl’s head and turned to look at the remaining wheat in the field.

"Next, it’s time to officially start harvesting, Pearl, let’s go!"

"Meow~!"

Holding the Scythe of Gaia, Ethan walked to the edge of the wheat field, with a light swing, he neatly slashed down a large bundle of wheat stalks.

As expected of a Legendary-grade weapon — even without using much effort, he could easily harvest the wheat, truly saving him a lot of energy.

Just like that, time ticked by, minute by minute, when Ethan had harvested nearly half of the wheat field, a familiar voice rang out from a distance.

"Ethan! Are you there?!!"

It was Vargan, he could be seen holding some things and running anxiously along the field ridge, shouting Ethan’s name loudly as he ran.

Hearing the voice, Ethan stood up and looked in Vargan’s direction.

Seeing that half of the wheat had already been harvested, a look of surprise appeared on Vargan’s face.

"You’ve already started harvesting?!"

"Yeah, it’s already fully mature, did you need me for something?"

"I brought some animal hides, and I also brought the thing you asked for earlier!!" Vargan said as he walked quickly in front of Ethan and opened his hands, besides a few animal hides, there was a massive scale the size of a palm.

"The thing I asked for earlier... do you mean the scale of a Trisel?"

He remembered asking Vargan to help find a material that could be used to make the blade of a hoe.

"That’s right!" Vargan nodded vigorously.

Estimating that it was about time to rest, Ethan put down his farming tools and walked over to Vargan.

"Oh... this is pretty good."

The shape of the scale was perfectly suited for a hoe blade, Ethan took the scale back to the shelter, took out the Hammer of Gaia and the Starfall Iron, and began crafting.

"I’ll just make a hole right here..."

Clang! Clang! Clang!

He hammered it a full dozens of times before managing to chisel a hole into the hard scale, he examined it carefully to make sure there were no issues, then used wood to fix the scale onto the handle of the hoe.

[Trisel Scale Hoe]

[A hoe made from the hard scales of the three-headed snake, Trisel. Its scales are harder than steel, greatly increasing its durability.]

[Crafting Difficulty: ★★]

No special effects appeared, but this hoe looked quite durable, Ethan took the new hoe and tried tilling the soil a few times, it felt much better to use than his previous stone hoe, he could easily dig open the hard ground.

"Oh, this hoe is really nice, thanks."

"You’re welcome! We’re friends, after all, by the way, once you finish harvesting the wheat, will you be able to make bread?" Vargan asked, face full of anticipation.

"Yeah, I’ll treat you to some when the time comes."

"Awesome, then is there anything I can help with?!"

"Haha, not for now."

Harvesting wheat was something Ethan could handle by himself; he didn’t need anyone else’s help.

"When you expand the size of the wheat field in the future, I’ll come help you harvest then." Vargan said with a smile.

After watching Vargan leave, Ethan’s gaze fell on the animal hides he had brought.

"What is it, meow?" Pearl asked curiously.

"I want to sew these animal hides together to make a larger leather mat."

Ethan said, and picked up a bone needle to begin sewing, very quickly, a massive animal-hide mat was completed.

Ethan spread it out on the ground and nodded in satisfaction. "From now on, I’ll do the threshing work right here."
