Although the Great Chieftain of the Southern Plains was powerful, his character was extremely narrow-minded and despicable, causing many to harbor discontent toward him.
To prove his courage, he had taken a reckless risk and stolen the spirit egg, but to the southern region, this was an unforgivable felony, even as the Great Chieftain, he could not escape the law.
He was defeated by the others, and the spirit egg was recovered and sent to the Ape Beastman village.
"Then there’s truly no way to hand him over, I’ll go talk to the spirit again."
Ethan retraced his steps, he passed through the Fire of the Spirits and arrived before the Great Spirit, who asked in confusion, "What is it?"
"That person is already dead," Ethan said.
"...Then bring the one who killed him."
"Understood."
’This shouldn’t be a problem, right?’ Ethan bid farewell to the spirit, returned to the bottom of the slope, and relayed the situation to the Ape Beastmen, their expressions weren’t as ugly as before, but they were still filled with unease.
"Well... we all considered killing the Great Chieftain a sin, so that person left the village."
"Even so, we can’t just sit by and do nothing, right? As long as we mobilize all the beastmen in the south, we can definitely find him, by the way, who is he?" Ethan asked.
The Ape Beastmen hesitated for a moment before saying, "He is the hero of the Lion Beastmen, Raul."
’Raul? The Lion Beastman we met last time?’
To think that straightforward and hearty guy was actually hailed as a hero, Ethan sat on the handcart, recalling Raul’s appearance.
At that moment, Pearl patted him. "We’re here, meow!"
"Ah, we’re here."
He had to tell Lachipi the results of his meeting with the spirit, Ethan jumped off the handcart, passed through the Ape Beastman village, and arrived at the elder’s spot.
Lachipi was resting his eyes beneath that massive tree, seeing Ethan and Pearl approach, he smiled and greeted them.
"You’ve returned, how did it go?"
Ethan relayed the full content of his conversation with the spirit, after hearing it, Lachipi let out a deep sigh.
"Raul killed the Great Chieftain and returned the spirit egg to us, we all called him a hero, but he considered himself a sinner, after all, he killed the Great Chieftain, we urged him to stay, but he..."
"He still left in the end, then do we have a way to find him?" Ethan asked.
"As long as we notify all the beastmen in the south, we should be able to find him, but, regarding the Spirit Ritual... I’ve only heard the name, I have absolutely no idea how it’s actually performed..." Lachipi said with a bitter face.
"Pearl, do you not know either?" Ethan asked.
"Meow! I’ve only seen it mentioned in books, I don’t know the specifics of how to do it, meow~"
If even Pearl didn’t know, this was going to be troublesome.
Just as the three of them were at their wits’ end, Zharok appeared behind them.
"Huh? You’re back?" Ethan asked in surprise.
"Where did you go?" Lachipi asked.
"I went to take care of something, what’s wrong? Why the long faces?" Zharok looked at their distressed expressions.
Ethan told Zharok the sequence of events, after hearing it, Zharok couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"What are you laughing at? Do you know something?" Ethan asked.
"No, I don’t know either, however, I think I’ve heard of the Spirit Ritual," Zharok said.
"Oh? Where did you hear about it?" Ethan and Lachipi asked in unison.
"While you guys went to find the spirit, I went somewhere else." Zharok pulled a ring out of his pocket, it was the ring Walter had given them.
"I went to see Walter’s younger brother, he’s also a vampire and lives in the south, he’s a pretty good guy, very interested in ancient ruins and history, I heard about the Spirit Ritual from him."
"Really? That’s great! Where is he?" Ethan asked excitedly.
"In the southwest, not far from here."
Ethan patted Zharok’s shoulder, Lachipi finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Since that’s the case, we’ll go find Raul, we will also help gather the materials needed for the Spirit Ritual... Ethan, can you go meet Walter’s younger brother?"
"No problem, I’ll head out right now."
Ethan left the Ape Beastman village, riding on horseback for about two days, he arrived in front of a small wooden cabin.
An old man who looked very much like Walter was sitting in a rocking chair.
"Oh, you are that human?" Seeing Ethan and Zharok, the old man was instantly intrigued, he stood up, pipe clamped in his mouth, and extended his hand.
"Just call me Jake."
"My name is Ethan, this is Pearl."
"Hello, meow~"
"Hello, hello, it really has been a long time since I’ve seen a human, speaking of which, I was just looking for a human’s help."
"That’s wonderful, I also wanted to ask for your help."
"Is that so? Then let’s help each other out, I’d like you to do me a favor." Jake patted Ethan on the shoulder with a beaming smile.
"I discovered an ancient ruin, but it can only be entered using a special method..."
"A special method? What method?" Ethan asked.
"A ritual ceremony needs to be held, but that kind of ritual can only be hosted by a human, so I’ve never been able to get in..."
"What ritual?" Ethan asked curiously.
Jake clamped the pipe in his mouth. "A Spirit Ritual."
’That’s like getting a pillow right when you want to sleep.’ He was just worrying about how to hold a Spirit Ritual, and someone brought it up on their own.
Still, he was curious about what kind of ancient ruin required a Spirit Ritual to enter.
"What kind of ancient ruin requires a Spirit Ritual to enter, meow?" Pearl seemed just as curious.
Hearing their question, Jake put down his pipe, put on a leather hat, and stood up. "It is an ancient ruin from a long time ago, used by humans to worship the spirits."
"Humans worshipped spirits? Didn’t they worship Goddess Gaia?" Ethan asked.
"It wasn’t just Goddess Gaia that was worshipped, some people worshipped spirits, perhaps it was through that ruin that they obtained spirit weapons."
"Spirit weapons?"
Hearing Ethan’s question, Jake turned around and walked into the cabin, a moment later, he came out holding a compact bow.
"This is a spirit weapon."
The bow looked completely ordinary, Ethan took it, and the body of the bow instantly emitted a soft glow.
