Today’s breakfast was bread.
Ethan baked a loaf as usual and was about to make omurice — then he glanced at the Frost Fruits and stopped.
"What are you making, meow?" Pearl asked.
"Jam," Ethan answered.
"Meow? What is that, meow?"
"A spread made from fruit."
Ethan checked his stock of beet sugar, then he washed the Frost Fruits clean, he sliced the fruit skins into fine shreds and put them into the Cauldron of Blessing.
"Help me squeeze out the fruit juice," Ethan said to Zharok.
"Got it." Zharok picked up the Frost Fruits and squeezed the juice into a bowl, the large Frost Fruits yielded a full bowl of juice.
Ethan poured the juice and beet sugar into the Cauldron of Blessing.
"Now we just need to simmer it slowly," he said.
"Do you have to put in so much sugar, meow?" Pearl watched him add the sugar, eyes wide.
"This is just how jam is made," Ethan explained.
He stirred the mixture in the pot with a wooden spoon as it gradually thickened, he skimmed off the white foam and continued to simmer, once the jam reached the right consistency, Ethan scooped it into a bowl.

"Wow! It’s so pretty, meow!" Pearl exclaimed at the crystal-clear, orange-yellow jam.
Ethan set the jam aside, then he sliced the freshly baked bread, he also made scrambled eggs using the eggs Zharok had brought back, finally, he brought the food to the dining table.
"Come, let’s eat," Ethan called out.
"I’ll eat first, meow!" Pearl couldn’t wait any longer, it picked up a slice of bread, spread a thick layer of jam on it, and put it into its mouth.
"Wow, wow, wow! This is too delicious?!" Zharok was also conquered by the taste.
The sweet and fragrant jam paired with the unsweetened bread, the two flavors collided and intertwined in the mouth, creating a wondrous combination.
"Not bad at all," Ethan agreed.
"It’s so cool and refreshing, meow~!" Pearl sighed between bites.
Perhaps because it was made with Frost Fruits, the jam retained the fruit’s cooling properties, even though it was already autumn, the weather was still very hot, Ethan felt much cooler after just one bite of the jam.
Ring, ring!
"Mr. Ethan?" At that moment, Ethan’s crystal ball rang, it was Leon calling.
"Hello, Mr. Leon," Ethan said.
—Excellent. Is it convenient for you to speak right now?
"Yes, go ahead." Ethan stuffed the rest of his bread into his mouth and nodded.
Leon got down to business, he spoke a lot, but to sum it up, he wanted to purchase more Honey Sweet Potatoes, Sweet Beets, and Vitality Cabbage.
"Hmm, that might be a bit difficult right now," Ethan said, sounding a bit troubled.
—Was the harvest poor this time? A hint of disappointment leaked through Leon’s voice.
"Ah, no, it’s just that I just got back not long ago and haven’t had time to farm yet, however, I can provide Wind Bananas and Frost Fruits..." Ethan explained.
—Wind Bananas and Frost Fruits? How rare, I have never heard of these two crops before, curiosity filled his voice.
"Wind Bananas provide immunity to wind-type attacks, Frost Fruits increase fire resistance and make you feel cool," Ethan said.
—Truly miraculous, alright, I accept, by the way, there is a large demand for pottery recently, could you bring more pottery next time?
"No problem, then please prepare some more glass panes for me, the same amount as last time."
—Understood, I will pass on the message.
Ethan needed to build another greenhouse, and glass panes could only be obtained from the elves, therefore, he decided to use the new crops to trade with them.
Ethan hung up the call.
"Ethan! Are you there?!" Vargan’s voice came from outside.
’Why are so many people looking for me this morning?’ Ethan stood up.
"Huh? You’re eating breakfast?!" Vargan felt a bit embarrassed seeing Ethan and the others at the table.
"Yeah, do you want to join us?" Since there was still some jam and bread left, Ethan asked.
Vargan swallowed hard and accepted. "Thank you! Then I won’t hold back!"
"It’s so early in the morning — is something the matter?" Ethan asked.
"I discovered a place with rich iron ore reserves!" Vargan said excitedly.
Ethan felt a surge of joy in his heart, he needed iron right now, it seemed it was time to build a smithy.
While thinking, Ethan took a large bite of the jam-smeared bread, he looked at Vargan, who was spacing out, and asked, "Where is it?"
"Uh, well! It’s in the North!" Vargan snapped back to his senses and replied.
"The Northern Region?" Zharok asked on Ethan’s behalf.
"He was currently spreading jam on his bread, frowning, he said, "I do not recommend you go to the Northern Region."
"Why?" Ethan and Vargan asked in unison.
"Because that is the territory of the Fox Beastmen, meow~" Pearl explained.
"What’s wrong with the Fox Beastmen?" Ethan looked at Zharok, the frown deepened.
"They are extremely brutal."
"We should be able to communicate with them, right?" Ethan pondered.
"That may be so, but no one knows what their attitude will be, meow," Pearl said worriedly.
"Unlike the central and southern regions, which were friendly to humans, the Northern Region is not friendly towards humans."
"Of course, that was a very long time ago, things might be different now..." Zharok recalled ancient legends.
It was said that before humanity disappeared, they lived in the Northern Region, therefore, they frequently had territorial disputes with the Fox Beastmen.
Ethan thought for a moment and nodded. "Then we’ll have to be careful."
"If it’s iron ore, the Minotaurs should be able to provide some too, right meow? Rather than taking a risk, why not just give up, meow?" Pearl suggested.
’Give up? That was impossible.’
If he could obtain iron ore and smelt iron, Ethan would be able to craft many more things, not only could he improve his farming tools, but he could also forge equipment for the other beastmen.
Therefore, he had to obtain a large amount of iron ore, of course, just to be safe, he would also ask the Minotaurs for help.
"If you are going to the Northern Region, we can help!" Vargan offered.
"Really?" Ethan asked.
"We have some ties with the Fox Beastmen, they shouldn’t attack us! Woof!" Vargan said, brimming with confidence.
