Elyn’s POV

The figure stepped out of the lake as though nothing unusual had happened.

Water rolled off his body in slow streams before disappearing into the stone beneath his feet.

He frowned in Vaelory’s direction, tilting his head ever so slightly.

Only then did I truly take a good look at him.

And... what in demon biography was this?

I hadn’t noticed it earlier because he had been submerged in the lake, but he was practically made of stone.

Not merely covered in it.

Made of it.

His body was smooth and pale gray, almost like polished marble, with faint veins of glowing Lunacite running beneath the surface.

His long hair was the only thing that looked remotely soft, cascading down his back.

Everything else... well... I’m honestly not joking or trying to pull a prank, but everything else was literally missing.

He had no eyebrows.

No nose.

No mouth.

No ears.

No eyes.

Nothing.

Just a perfectly smooth face.

I slowly turned toward Zorathys, who lazily met my gaze like he knew I was going to say something.

"What in your adorable pajamas is this?" I asked him.

His lips curved upward ever so slightly, and I should have known this demon who was a potential husband wouldn’t answer my question. Instead he said,

"You think my pajamas are adorable, Firefly?"

I gave him a fake smile. One so wide that I was certain it reached my ears.

I refused to believe this realm wasn’t intentionally trying to test my sanity and that this fucking demon who was supposed to be a potential husband wasn’t a part of the test... whatever that meant.

The faceless figure walked toward us before lowering himself into a respectful bow.

The movement was elegant despite the fact that he had absolutely no facial features.

Then, a voice echoed inside my mind.

"I greet Your Majesties."

I stiffened.

The voice hadn’t come from outside.

It had appeared directly inside my head.

Azerion frowned at the demon and then hurried over to him.

Without even the slightest hesitation...

He poked him.

Right in the arm.

The stone demon remained perfectly still.

"What are you?" He asked curiously.

Brixton smiled.

"That’s Master’s other form."

Azerion blinked.

"Really?"

He walked around the faceless demon once.

Then twice.

"How are you supposed to talk without a mouth?"

The very instant those words left his lips, he suddenly jumped nearly a foot into the air as a hiss slipped out from his mouth.

His little eyes narrowed into slits as he spun around to glare suspiciously at the faceless demon.

"What did you just do?!"

I had a feeling I knew exactly what had happened.

The demon had spoken directly into Azerion’s mind.

A moment later, the same calm voice echoed inside all our heads.

"My name is Lithovar." The voice carried a quiet dignity. "I am Brixton’s master."

A brief pause followed.

"And the finest golem maker still living."

Beside him, Brixton nodded so enthusiastically I was afraid his head might fall off.

"It’s true."

The pride in his voice was impossible to miss.

"Master is the best."

Retheris folded his arms unimpressed.

"Where are the golems?"

He pointed toward the still unconscious Vaelory.

"You just made my VV collapse and after terrifying her, you’d better have some impressive golems to show us."

Lithovar inclined his head.

Without another word, he walked toward the long stone table covered with countless rocks and crystals.

He extended one finger.

Then gently touched an ordinary gray pebble.

Nothing happened.

At least for about two seconds.

Then the pebble twitched.

Tiny cracks spread across its surface.

Several even smaller stones rolled toward it from the tabletop before attaching themselves to its body.

Little arms formed.

Tiny legs.

Then two bright little eyes suddenly opened.

"Ooooh." The children said, eyes wide and yes, Rin too.

The tiny creature stretched as though waking from a nap.

It looked around curiously before spotting us.

Its eyes immediately lit up.

It bounced excitedly on its tiny pebble feet.

"It’s adorable," I whispered.

The little golem chirped happily before attempting to climb down from the table.

"B-Be careful!"

Brixton rushed forward and gently caught it before it could tumble onto the floor.

The tiny golem happily climbed onto his shoulder.

Aziren’s eyes became enormous.

His little flames bounced up and down excitedly.

"...Can I touch it?"

The tiny golem immediately shook its head.

Brixton laughed.

"This one isn’t fire resistant."

"Oh."

Aziren looked genuinely disappointed.

"I don’t want to accidentally burn him."

The little golem patted Aziren’s finger comfortingly.

"I think it likes you," Velira said with a smile.

"It does?"

"It wouldn’t pat you otherwise, right?" She asked Brixton.

"Yes," he said with a nod.

Aziren smiled so brightly that his flames nearly doubled in size.

Soon...

More stones began moving.

One after another.

Lithovar never seemed to rush.

A touch here.

A gesture there.

Sometimes he merely pointed.

Other times he lightly brushed his fingers across a rock.

Each movement created another golem.

Some resembled tiny animals.

Others looked like miniature Stone Demons.

One looked almost identical to Lithovar’s faceless form, except it was barely the size of my hand.

The little faceless golem bowed politely toward us.

Before long, dozens of tiny golems wandered happily around the workshop.

Some climbed shelves.

Some carried little stones from one place to another.

One repeatedly attempted to push another golem into a bowl before falling into it instead.

Rin laughed so loudly that several of the tiny creatures stopped to stare at her.

I honestly couldn’t decide whether everything around me was terrifying...

Or incredibly adorable.

Perhaps both.

Zayrion adjusted his glasses as he watched Lithovar continue his work.

"...Master Lithovar."

The faceless demon inclined his head.

"How do you do it?"

The question seemed to genuinely interest him.

"First," he said, his voice echoing gently inside our minds once more. "Golem creation is an art that only Stone Demons possess."

Zayrion nodded.

"I know."

He adjusted his glasses again.

"The knowledge has been passed down through countless generations." His tails swayed thoughtfully behind him. "Some possess remarkable talent."

He glanced toward Brixton.

"Others struggle for years before mastering even the basics."

Lithovar inclined his head.

"Correct."

He rested one hand upon the table.

"Each Stone Demon creates differently."

Small pebbles floated around his fingers.

"Some require hammers."

A tiny stone hammer appeared beside one of the unfinished golems.

"Others require chisels... or specialized carving tools."

Another golem formed holding miniature tools.

"Some must work only within places rich in earth mana."

He gestured toward the cave walls.

"Others require specific stones before their abilities will respond."

The tiny golems continued bustling around the workshop as though demonstrating his words.

Then Lithovar rested a hand gently upon Brixton’s shoulder, and the boy smiled proudly.

"This child was born with unimaginable talent for golem creation."

I looked at Brixton in surprise.

Even he seemed slightly embarrassed.

"...Master..."

"That is why his father entrusted him to me."

Brixton lowered his head shyly.

Lithovar slowly withdrew his hand before continuing.

"As for myself..."

The little stones around him floated effortlessly into the air.

"I require neither special tools... nor sacred places... nor particular stones."

The pebbles danced gracefully around his fingertips.

"I can use anything just as the little Duke can."
