Chapter 534: Chapter 534: Take Me Away

Just then, Corinne Linden emerged from the crowd and asked curiously, "Ethan, what’s going on?"

Ethan Kingsley’s cold gaze swept over her. "Someone bullied my Little Cutie," he said, his tone softening, "and I intend to find out who."

"Is that so? Well, you’ll have to investigate thoroughly then." Corinne Linden’s eyes were fixed on Ivy Tanner. For some reason, she felt there was something strange about the look in Ivy’s eyes.

Ethan Kingsley turned to the others and called out a few more times, but still, no one came forward.

"Fine. So no one’s stepping forward, is that it? Seth Payne, check the surveillance footage." At his command, Seth Payne immediately left to do as he was told.

A woman hiding at the back of the crowd saw how agitated Ethan Kingsley was and, consumed by guilt, didn’t dare to step forward. At the thought of her actions being exposed, she could not linger any longer and immediately turned to flee.

As she reached the entrance, she was in such a hurry that she accidentally bumped into the arm of Claire Sinclair, who had just arrived.

She didn’t apologize. She just took off running.

Claire Sinclair frowned, glancing back at the woman. ’What’s her problem?’ she muttered under her breath.

She turned and walked into the main hall, only to find the atmosphere heavy and oppressive. Despite there being dozens of people, not a single person was speaking.

A bad feeling crept over Claire Sinclair. She quickened her pace, walking further in until she was standing in front of Ivy Tanner.

Before she could even say "Ivy—," Ivy Tanner threw herself into her arms, clinging to her tightly. "Sinclair, take me away! I want to leave this place. Please, take me away, won’t you?"

Her heart-wrenching sobs nearly shattered Claire Sinclair’s heart. She quickly patted Ivy’s back to soothe her. "What’s wrong? Did someone bully you?"

"Take me away... Please, take me away..." Ivy Tanner pleaded, her sobs growing so intense she could barely speak.

Claire Sinclair’s heart was breaking. She understood Ivy’s state all too well and had no intention of figuring out what had happened right now. Looking up at Ethan Kingsley, she said, "Mr. Kingsley, Third Miss Tanner seems to have suffered some sort of shock. Do you mind if I take her away from here?"

Ethan Kingsley thought, ’My Little Cutie is quite fond of Claire Sinclair. It might be for the best to let Claire take her home for now. Once I’m done here, I can go pick her up.’

So, he nodded. "You can take her. But you must take good care of her."

"Don’t worry. I will." With that said, Claire Sinclair took Ivy Tanner by the hand and hurried her out of that troublesome place.

Under everyone’s watchful gaze, Claire Sinclair led Third Miss Tanner away.

Ethan Kingsley watched the pair leave, then slowly retracted his gaze. He turned to Corinne Linden and, in a rare display of concern for a woman, asked, "Are you all right?"

Corinne Linden raised an eyebrow. "I’m perfectly fine. What on earth happened on the second floor? I still can’t make sense of it."

Ethan Kingsley said nonchalantly, "I’ll make the culprit pay the price."

Corinne Linden was left speechless.

On the way back to Evergreen Garden, Ivy Tanner simply wept in Claire Sinclair’s arms. She wouldn’t answer any questions, only crying inconsolably.

Claire Sinclair’s heart broke for her. She stopped asking questions, deciding it was best to just let her cry it all out. She could ask what happened later, once the tears had stopped.

Twenty minutes later, the car arrived at Evergreen Garden.

Claire Sinclair led Ivy Tanner inside and sat her down on the sofa before going to the kitchen to get her a glass of warm water. "Here, drink this. It’ll help you calm down."

Ivy Tanner took the glass and gulped down a few mouthfuls before finally looking up at Claire. "Ethan Kingsley might call later, or he might even come here in person. No matter what he says, please, don’t let him take me away. I’m begging you."
