I Only Summon Amazon Giantesses

Chapter 30: The Vindictive Junior

Everyone in the stands sat stunned, watching as Mark’s summon had seamlessly readjusted into something far stronger mid battle, elevating her defense against the relentless volley of quill attacks. She had just aced one of the core combat factors tested that day, pure defensive resilience. It wasn’t that anyone had underestimated her going in, but this particular display had genuinely caught most of them completely off guard.

Mark himself, though, wasn’t especially surprised by her potential, well aware she was a seasoned warrior belonging to the giant race of the Amazon Order. Warriors like her had likely witnessed countless brutal, blood soaked battlefields stretching back generations, long before he had ever come into the picture. This was simply what they had been built for, the very purpose they had lived and fought for across centuries.

He had also come to understand something important about his summon’s polymer variants, the very trait that made her so genuinely special and unique.

As his classes had taught, most summons carried a single defined role or class, the norm across the vast majority. Having two, three, or more distinct variants combined into one summon was considered exceptionally rare and endlessly fascinating.

As a true member of the giant Amazon race, she was undoubtedly special in every sense. And through careful, ongoing observation, he had begun to piece together exactly why she carried true polymer status.

In terms of pure role, she functioned as a vanguard whenever it came to tanking and absorbing incoming attacks, exactly as demonstrated during this very defense lesson.

She also carried the instincts of a striker as well, capable of launching brutal, tactically precise offensive assaults, clearly evidenced by her signature battle technique, Diane’s Dance, paired seamlessly with her deadly signature weapon.

On top of that, she also functioned as a specialist, particularly skilled at adapting and mastering unfamiliar tools or effects.

The shrinking potion originally applied to control her size served as a clear example, something she had eventually internalized entirely, transforming what began as an external effect into a fully innate trait she could now trigger on her own. Her bracers evolving mid battle to counter a growing threat was simply the latest proof of that same adaptive instinct at work.

There were likely still other hidden facets to her he hadn’t yet discovered, but this much, at least, he now understood with confidence.

His summon was, in every sense, a true hybrid carrying multiple polymer variants. Summons carrying only two variants were still considered hybrids, just of a more limited, dual nature, while those carrying only a single variant remained purely primal, permanently locked out of ever developing additional classes or functional roles.

The sharp, deliberate sound of clapping from somewhere in the stands pulled Mark’s attention, along with nearly everyone else’s. The source turned out to be Hermione, who had risen fully to her feet, openly celebrating his impressive achievement.

A few students shot her irritated glances, while others murmured different opinions entirely, though none of it seemed to slow her down in the slightest as she kept clapping, if anything growing even louder.

Mia seethed quietly, jaw clenched tight with barely restrained frustration.

She despised being overshadowed or upstaged during what was supposed to be her own moment to shine, made all the more unbearable by the fact that her rival was someone who had only recently become a summoner after years spent as an ordinary mundane. Hermione’s enthusiastic applause only seemed to rub salt further into that particular wound.

Slowly, others in the crowd began joining the applause as well, though nowhere near as loud or enthusiastic as Hermione’s, since a fair number of students remained too stunned, still processing just how genuinely capable this new summoner and his unconventional summon truly were.

The combat instructor smiled with clear approval, even extending a warm, appreciative handshake toward Mark, something he had notably never once offered Mia after her own performance. Somehow, he seemed even more genuinely impressed by what Mark had just accomplished.

Mark recalled Cassandra back into his soul space, offered a brief wave toward the watching crowd, and made his way down from the platform. Victor attempted once more to soothe Mia’s foul mood, only to be met with a sharp elbow to the ribs for his trouble, prompting even Jack to think twice before following Victor’s earlier, now clearly failed, approach.

Kai’s eyes narrowed the moment Mark approached Hermione, who greeted him warmly with a friendly fist bump before the two settled in beside one another, chatting casually.

Roman shot a quick, careful glance toward Kai from the corner of his eye, noting the subtle shift in his expression. Though Kai’s face remained largely quiet and unreadable to most, Roman, being far closer to him, knew better than to take that stillness at face value.

"Excellent work. That was truly fabulous!" the combat instructor said, clapping softly as he turned to address the wider audience. "Many of you might not fully grasp what just happened here, but his summon literally adapted mid battle, reinforcing her own equipment to become far more resistant on the fly. Could any of your own summons manage something like that? I’m guessing not."

"Under normal circumstances, a summon would need a full month, sometimes longer, to properly adjust and reinforce itself against that kind of sustained hardship. This one managed it in a matter of mere seconds. Honestly, I couldn’t be more excited for competition week to finally begin." The combat instructor folded his arms, clearly pleased.

"He’s genuinely, remarkably good," Mary said, visible shock still lingering across her expression.

"Yes, he clearly is. Why does that surprise you so much? I thought you already believed he was Monarch Tier?" Williams asked, a light, teasing edge coloring his tone.

"See, Hermione? I actually pulled it off, and you said you believed in me," Mark said with a wide smile. Hermione simply smiled back, eyes closed, tilting her head slightly to one side. Of course she had believed in him. Her confidence, it seemed, carried real weight after all.

Later that day, once the school day had officially ended, Mark and Hermione walked together toward the main entrance gate, which also doubled as the primary exit for students. They walked side by side, Mark casually escorting her forward, hands tucked into his pockets, a genuinely content expression settled across his face.

The moment they stepped through the gate, they spotted the same sleek, striking red sedan waiting outside, small flags fluttering gently atop its hood. Hermione gave him a small wave as the driver opened the rear door for her, and Mark returned it with an easy, small smile of his own.

As the car pulled away and disappeared down the road, his expression settled back into its usual calm stillness, and he turned to head back into the school compound.

Walking along the footpath, he suddenly noticed someone with dark hair blocking his route, leaning slightly to one side, fists clenched tightly at their sides. The stranger looked to be around seventeen years old, clearly marking him as an underclassman.

The expression on the boy’s face made it clear this wasn’t a friendly encounter. Mark stopped in his tracks, pulling his hands free from his pockets. He exhaled slowly, settling into a steady, measured gaze.

"Alright, what exactly is your problem here? Need help with something, or what?" Mark asked, raising an eyebrow. In response, the junior clenched his jaw so tightly the muscles along it visibly tensed, his eyes flashing with barely restrained anger.

"Ah, my apologies for not properly introducing myself to such a reckless student," he said bitterly. "But don’t worry, you’ll come to know exactly who I am soon enough."

His emotions ran high, barely contained in the presence of the very student who had nearly gotten him killed on that fateful day he had first summoned his own creature.

Back then, he had tried to help contain the chaos unleashed by that towering giant summon, deploying the binding shackles of his own mana roc to help hold it in place.

He hadn’t acted alone either, joined by three other juniors who had similarly used their own summons to help pull and drag the giant down through a shared network of binding chains. He had been the summoner behind the very bird that Mark’s giant had ultimately crushed that day.

Plenty of summoners lost their lives entirely the moment their summon fell in battle, but he had managed to survive, thanks to unusually strong soul reinforcement, though even that had barely been enough to pull him through. Without it, there was little doubt he would have been doomed for good.

He had come agonizingly close to losing his own summon that day, an outcome that would have proven fatal for him as well, given the deep, inseparable soul link shared between summoner and summon.

Memories of the long, grueling recovery period he’d spent afterward inside the school’s medical wing flashed vividly through his mind, a genuinely terrifying stretch of time. Had the school nurse and attending medics not acted as quickly as they did, he would almost certainly have lost both his summon and his own life entirely.

Hearing afterward that the responsible student had only briefly served detention, without facing any further serious or lasting consequence, had been the final push.

He had decided then and there to settle the matter personally, determined to make sure Mark experienced firsthand exactly what he himself had gone through. Even if the school administration considered the punishment sufficient, he had no intention of letting it end there.

Seeing Mark now, casually continuing on with school life as though nothing had happened at all, and worse, walking around freely in the company of an attractive girl, only deepened the bitter resentment simmering inside him.

Mark’s eyes widened slightly the moment he noticed the junior’s gaze burning with open menace, hatred, and barely restrained fury. His entire body seemed to vibrate with mounting anger, breathing growing heavier with every passing second. It was in that exact moment Mark finally understood something was seriously wrong here, and that real danger was likely only seconds away.

Still, he had no idea who this junior actually was, or what specific grievance had brought them to this point. There was little time left to think it through further, though, as a pair of large, feathered wings suddenly sprouted from the junior’s back, gleaming faintly with condensed mana, a clear partial transformation taking hold. He had activated Echo, channeling the traits of his own summon directly into his body.

This clearly wasn’t some random act of aimless bullying. If anything, Mark could tell this ran far deeper, something personal, driven by genuine, simmering vengeance rather than casual cruelty.

Still lacking any real understanding of what had triggered this confrontation, Mark genuinely wanted answers, hoping to somehow resolve it peacefully if possible. The junior, however, showed no interest whatsoever in restraint, seemingly indifferent to the fact that they currently stood on official school grounds.

Jason, the junior in question, glared with mana crackling visibly behind his eyes. His now fully spread wings unfurled to their complete, enormous length, and the sheer size of them left Mark momentarily stunned, the sight almost making him look like some avenging angel descending to deliver punishment for past sins.

Long, sharpened talons had replaced his fingernails entirely, thick plumage now covering his thighs much like that of a bald eagle, his limbs wrapped in a dense, bird like insulating layer capable of absorbing blunt impacts. On top of that, his entire body radiated a powerful surge of mana, bursting outward in visible waves.

Glowing chains suddenly erupted from the ground at multiple angles, shooting straight toward Mark and wrapping tightly around his limbs, attempting to pin him firmly in place. But Mark’s body responded instantly, glowing faintly as he activated his own Echo, silver bracers materializing across his forearms while matching greaves formed snugly around his shins.

His eyes flared with bright green energy as the full effect of Echo settled fully into place. At the same time, he activated Symbiosis, drawing on half the raw strength of his own summon to bolster himself further. His muscles tightened, bones grew visibly denser, and his senses sharpened as a fresh surge of borrowed power flooded steadily through his body.

Six separate manacles locked firmly around his limbs, pinning him tightly to the ground beneath him. The harder Mark struggled against them, the tighter and more forceful the chains’ pull became in response. Still, gritting his teeth, eyes blazing with fierce determination, Mark pushed back hard against the resistance, drawing fully on the enhanced strength granted by Symbiosis.

Jason’s eyes widened further as he watched the chains stretch taut under the sheer force of Mark’s struggle, until at last Mark tore free entirely, ripping the anchoring roots clean out of the ground, dragging up chunks of broken pavement along with them. Mark swung the trailing length of chain like an improvised flail, aiming straight for the junior, who quickly brought his massive wings together in a defensive shield.

Fortunately for him, the wings absorbed most of the blow, though the sheer force still sent him sliding several meters backward, his sharp talons carving deep gouges into the pavement as he forced himself to a stop. Before he could fully open his wings again to assess the situation, Mark had already closed the distance, driving forward with tremendous momentum that sent them both crashing straight through a nearby wall, which crumbled instantly under the impact.

The commotion quickly drew the attention of nearby students, many scrambling to put safe distance between themselves and the two clearly high tiered fighters locked in open combat.

A sudden burst of mana exploded outward, throwing Mark backward and away from the junior, whose aura now flared a deep, aggressive red, thick with concentrated mana. With a single powerful flap of his massive wings, Jason rose more than three meters into the air. He understood well enough that airborne assaults carried real tactical advantage, forcing any grounded opponent into an awkward, straining position just to track him properly.

"So, you’ve grown even more stubborn and reckless in such a short time, but I’m going to make sure you experience exactly what you put me through. You’ll finally understand what it feels like to stand on the devastated side of true chaos. You’re going to suffer for this!" Jason roared, pure hatred burning behind his eyes.

Mark’s breathing came heavy and labored, the combined strain of maintaining both Echo and Symbiosis at once already beginning to take a real toll on him. The junior’s decision to take to the air only made things more difficult, a genuinely clever tactical move, though Mark quickly began searching for a way to turn even that disadvantage back in his own favor.

Chains suddenly shot outward from two small portal openings that materialized on either side of the airborne junior, catching Mark by the shoulders and yanking him upward before slamming him hard back down against the ground. The second time around, Mark used the chain’s momentum as an anchor point instead, swinging the broken length, a heavy chunk of pavement still attached to one end, with brutal, calculated force.

The block struck Jason squarely, sending him staggering hard through the air as both portal openings and the remaining manacles dissolved instantly from the impact of his fall. Mark landed directly on top of him, driving down a heavy blow that Jason barely managed to deflect using his wings as a shield, absorbing most of the force before bouncing away.

Jason quickly climbed back into the air, rising roughly five meters, shaking his head to clear the dizziness left behind from the exchange. Freed now from the shackles entirely, Mark moved with newfound ease, sprinting toward the nearest wall and scaling it rapidly, using the ledges to climb higher and higher.

Just as Jason began to regain his composure, Mark was already closing in for another strike, launching himself through the air with a forceful blow that sent them both crashing downward under the combined weight and momentum of the impact. Jason’s wing, still partially transformed through Echo, slammed repeatedly against Mark’s bracers, each impact causing them to gleam brighter and brighter, until finally, glowing runic symbols flared fully to life across their surface.

A crooked, confident smile crossed Mark’s otherwise composed face. "See you around, sucker."

"I’m not finished with you," Jason started to say, but never got the chance to complete the sentence, suddenly blasted backward by an enormous burst of reflected force, the accumulated feedback from Mark’s bracers finally unleashed in full through their reversal enchantment.

The junior was likely sitting somewhere around a 5.0 tier summoner, carrying the potential to eventually reach High Tier himself. The gap between his and Mark’s current potential wasn’t especially wide, making this less of a completely lopsided beating and more of a genuinely evenly matched confrontation.

Jason was thrown backward, carried more than three meters through the air before crashing hard into a distant wall, the structure collapsing entirely into rubble beneath the force of the impact, taking him down with it.

Mark stood there afterward, body trembling faintly from the combined exhaustion of mana depletion and sheer physical fatigue, as he deactivated both Echo and Symbiosis. One hand pressed lightly against his aching left shoulder, he turned and walked away quietly, never once glancing back at the outcome of his victory.
