The surrounding atmosphere seemed to gain a deep weight as the chilly dusk sky took over, making the scene much tenser and harder to endure. Streetlights and lamp posts began to flicker faintly with the changing weather, but the people around had already moved farther away from the unfolding scene.

"I thought summons weren’t allowed to be used for danger within the school grounds, so why urge your request?" Derek asked.

Truly, there were certain rules and regulations that placed limitations on using summons to some extent, in order for a summoner to know their place as humans. But the main reason was to reduce the risk of wrecking chaos, disorder, or disaster due to how summons could pose a danger to the school’s properties. Just like the event that had occurred during Mark’s devastating awakening trial, which had caused immense destruction.

But luckily, the collapsed and damaged infrastructure had been mended by professional summoners with enhanced mana capacity and engineering abilities derived from their summons’ various talents. The school had disclosed the clear cause of the incident to prevent attention from the authorities and top guild agents.

Any leak on the matter would likely affect their prestige and the prominent order they had claimed to maintain within the school management. But that didn’t seem to be the case, as many had likely heard about it through the students and staff, making it seem like a joke rather than something genuinely serious.

"Whenever I’m here, here with the power, permission, and privilege of the school king, the fuckin’ law and rules are lifted and immune to us."

Lionel’s eyes scanned Derek, whose body had gone rigid with defense. Good. He loved imposing a sense of fear and dread over his targets, making them weaker and more off guard before he could feast upon them.

Derek stared at him intently when he chuckled slightly, his shoulders shaking like those of a predatory animal. Both their fists clenched, but Lionel’s seemed tighter.

"The one and only summoner who works very fine without the full might of his summon, the Unpredictable Veiled Summoner. But still, all this respect was crumpled under a mere Mundy that you just had to put in his place." Lionel’s devious words made Derek’s eyes widen as realization struck him.

Seeing his reaction, Lionel only smiled slyly, his eyes never leaving Derek as he moved around him in a slow, deliberate motion.

"Yes, I said it! You have disgraced the order and command of the king himself by failing to do what you were meant to do!"

"Just one thing, only one, and you weren’t able to get that task done. And now the Mundy has turned into a summoner and a potential rival to our league and progression! You have failed, young man." Lionel shook his head before straightening his stance.

"You guys don’t know anything about the one you call a mere Mundy. He’s actually talented with something greater than anyone would have expected. He is strong and stubborn. I shouldn’t have underestimated him through the image of a weakling human, and he’s not on good terms with me now that he’s a summoner." Derek clenched his jaws. He couldn’t bear the embarrassment, but that was the truth and nothing more.

"It was like he had been certainly anticipating the particular day that he’d become a summoner, which eventually came to life." Derek stopped there in thought as he looked down.

"Well, it’s a shame that you’ve lost to him and lost your bargain of joining the high-ranked." Lionel’s eyes gleamed slightly as he spoke.

Gritting his teeth, with his clenched fists tightening, Derek couldn’t believe the absurdity of the situation he had gotten himself into.

"Screw those damn high-ranked shit! I don’t need them to know my rightful potential and strength. They’re just my limitations, actually."

The smile appeared back on Lionel’s mouth, making him much scarier.

"You shouldn’t have said that," he said viciously, as mana radiation burst out as an immense aura that prickled the skin of anyone around.

From the sudden reaction to the mana burst, Derek involuntarily staggered as he spilled fruit juice over his nice clothes, staining the neat material. His face suddenly scowled as he looked at his own mess.

"How dare you spill my juice over myself? I haven’t even taken a third sip..."

"Get that summon of yours now, I’m warning you!"

Lionel flashed forward and disappeared from his initial position like a swift phantom. Before Derek could even spare a thought, gleaming claws six inches long were aimed at his neck in a vicious slash.

Derek had already formed jade-green crystal armor over some parts of his skin from the burning aura for mere protection, but now that he was facing real danger, he sealed himself from his chest to his neck with defensive armor that glittered with twinkles.

The attack left no mark on his armored body, leaving him unharmed. With that, Derek pushed the animalistic man away with enough force to send him flying, but Lionel landed perfectly with a deft flipping motion.

Shaking his head, Lionel growled before springing forward again.

Derek could see it, and he couldn’t believe his eyes. Lionel’s body was no longer the same. It had become bestial, covered in yellow-brown fur, especially around the little mane that had replaced his hair. His fingers had become the shiny silver claws of a carnivorous beast, with fangs that were sharp and strong enough to paralyze an elephant with a single bite. His frame was much bigger and slightly bulkier than his previous appearance, making him even more intimidating and malicious.

With arms materialized into crystal armor, Derek blocked the dangerous pounce of the partially transformed junior as they both struggled to push each other in a battle of strength. He couldn’t believe that he would have to go against one of the king’s people, but he had no choice and did not care anymore.

This was just a form of self-defense, he convinced himself as he smirked boldly, making the bestial form of Lionel look at him with wildness. Derek’s power wasn’t any hype or exaggeration, and he would demonstrate it here and now.

With muscles reinforced by mana and crystal hardness, Derek shoved Lionel like a doll, sending him over twenty meters before he steadied himself.

"I was just holding back. Next time, learn your..."

He didn’t finish his words when Lionel snarled with gleaming eyes like those of a predatory carnivore. His ears were like those of a wolf, but longer, with white fur on his cheeks.

"You’re too audacious and confident like a child!" Lionel slashed with a claw attack that carved long marks across Derek’s armored body, making him flinch with pain as he stepped backward.

Both launched forward as Derek and Lionel drove punches of great force into each other with brutal impact, sending many chairs and tables from the outdoor restaurants flying. The clothing of unfortunate bystanders was ripped apart like paper as they ran away in shame.

Lionel narrowed his blazing eyes, but then Derek slammed a blow with his knee into his abdomen, making him move backward with clenched hands. Both their eyes met with intensity as Lionel growled furiously, his sound resembling a lion’s grunt.

"I told you I was holding back," Derek said firmly, his hands ready for sharp cutting blows as he stepped forward.

"You idiot! You’ve just made your case worse. All you had to do was take your punishment simply," Lionel snapped.

Derek lowered his stance with readiness.

"I don’t kneel and will never fall under anybody, including the damn student council," he said coldly.

"Then how about I shift the threat to them?"

Lionel turned toward the direction where Derek’s girls must have gone while hiding for safety. A gleaming portal appeared around the area as a large Nemean lion, with a furry mane, dark roots, red totemic tattoo marks around its trunk-like body, and around fierce eyes that seemed capable of killing souls, emerged with a violent roar.

It was most famous for being one of the mythical beasts killed by a Greek hero during his twelve labors. Because its golden fur was impervious to attack, it could not be killed with mortal weapons. It was widely believed to be the offspring of powerful primordial monsters like Typhon and Echidna.

The ferocious creature turned toward the supposed hideout at the hub some distance away. It then licked its mouth with slick saliva, its hunger and malice unmistakable.

This summon was nothing less than a high-tiered beast with staggering potential!

It had a bite force that could probably crush lead blocks and medieval steel armor in a single bite of its stainless steel fangs. Its thick mane had protective layers that shielded its head, which was the Achilles’ heel of many creatures. A slash of its deadly claws could shred advanced armour defense. Its muscular build beneath its strong hide emphasized its sheer strength and durability.

Derek’s eyes flashed wildly with desperation as rage boiled within his heart at Lionel’s daring audacity. This was taking things too far for his composure, and it had just struck him that this school was a zoo of untamed summoners after all.

So why hold back in the first place when he had the power to end them once and for all?

Earlier, he might have been paranoid and resistant to hurting or going against one of the members of the King’s Domain, but right now, that wasn’t the case, even if he had the choice.

He didn’t care whatsoever who they thought they were, and he would show them exactly why no one should mess with him.

"I know that it’s been a while, but COME FORTH, NOW!" Derek bellowed as he opened a palm.

At that moment of the particular gesture, a green portal flared to life before him, and an imposing humanoid summon came out with an unmistakable sharpness. Its body construct glittered with prismatic light.

Lionel’s eyes widened with disbelief at what he was seeing.

But this was finally something that had come through after all his years at the school, something he had wondered about whenever he watched this particular junior hide his true power.

Yet Lionel was also about to instantly regret getting what he had wished for.
