Chapter 304: Chapter 155: Proportion (Part 2)

Zhang Xiyi arrived at the Tamin Chagan Base once again. Seeing the sign for the Sany Heavy Industry after-sales service station not far away, he walked past with an impassive expression.

Meanwhile, Huang Jianhu, the resident manager for Sany Heavy Industry, watched Zhang Xiyi and his group with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

Neither side spoke.

Wang Feng stood not far away, taking in the entire scene, but he didn’t say anything.

This continued until Zhang Xiyi arrived at his office.

Wang Feng, not one for pleasantries, cut straight to the chase. "Manager Zhang, tell us about your products."

Zhang Xiyi’s heart tightened. With a smile on his face, he cautiously asked, "Manager Wang, considering your company needs to cultivate tens of thousands of acres of land, our company’s Plow King 1804 tractor would be quite suitable for your needs."

While looking at the product details provided, Wang Feng asked without looking up, "One tractor can only handle about sixteen acres a day? Even with a hundred of them, it would take us twenty days to plow our 33,000 acres. That’s too long."

Zhang Xiyi explained, "The Plow King 1804 has a 180-horsepower engine. It can plow between one-and-a-third and two acres an hour on normal farmland. On sandy soil like yours, it can reach over three acres an hour, covering more than thirty acres in a day."

"And the price?"

"The fully-loaded model, with factory air conditioning and heating, is around 96,000 yuan. If your company purchases 100 units, we can do 90,000 yuan each, and we’ll throw in the plows, harrows, and rotary tillers." Zhang Xiyi added, "The Plow King series can also be fitted with other towed implements, like seeders, trailers, and combination cultivators. For just another twenty to thirty thousand yuan, you can have a multi-functional tractor."

Wang Feng discussed this with a few colleagues, then asked another question: "You have on-site after-sales and warranty personnel, right? We can’t be waiting for you to send someone all the way out here just for repairs."

"Yes, yes, absolutely. We’ll station five after-sales engineers at your base," Zhang Xiyi quickly assured him.

Wang Feng didn’t make a decision right away. Instead, he pointed to a page for another tractor and asked, "This PS1804 power-shift tractor seems a bit better, doesn’t it? What’s the market price?"

Hearing this, Zhang Xiyi nodded quickly. "The PS1804 is indeed better. On sandy soil, it can plow 50 to 65 acres per day. The current market price is 270,000 yuan. If your company is interested, I can give you our best price of 245,000 yuan."

When Wang Feng heard about its performance, he huddled with his colleagues again for a moment, then made his decision. "We’ll take this one, the PS1804. Give us 100 units."

"No problem." The smile on Zhang Xiyi’s face was becoming increasingly difficult to contain.

"Now tell me about your harvesters. We need something that can handle soybeans, alfalfa, and other forage grasses."

"Of course, Manager Wang. This TF220 combine harvester would be perfect for your company. It has a feeding capacity of 22 kg/s, making it the best model among China’s high-capacity, high-efficiency grain combine harvesters. Its operational efficiency can reach 10 to 18 acres per hour."

Wang Feng looked up. "Oh? So you’re saying it can harvest 100 to 180 acres a day?"

"Yes, it’s perfect for large-scale farms that need to harvest quickly." Zhang Xiyi nodded like a chick pecking at rice.

"What’s the price?"

"For the high-spec model, it’s 1.3 million yuan per unit."

"We need 30. What’s the price per unit then?"

"Fully loaded, 1.2 million."

"Can this harvester handle alfalfa?"

Zhang Xiyi shook his head, slightly embarrassed. "The TF220 isn’t suitable for harvesting alfalfa and other forage grasses. Forage requires a specialized harvester. Manager Wang, you could take a look at another one of our models, the 4QZ-3000A self-propelled forage harvester. It’s highly efficient for alfalfa, harvesting about 2.5 acres per hour."

Wang Feng and his colleagues discussed the alfalfa harvesting situation.

Generally, alfalfa in the North can be harvested two or three times a season. The timing is flexible, unlike soybeans which require a rush, so there’s no need to buy too much equipment.

They had 25,000 acres of pastureland. Each harvest could last for 45 days. Subtracting the 8,200 acres of sand dunes that are difficult to harvest mechanically, they would only need to harvest about 380 acres per day. Therefore, purchasing 15 machines would be sufficient.

However, considering future expansion and the need to handle unexpected situations, buying 20 units would be more appropriate.

"Give me a price!"

"Manager Wang, the high-spec version is 390,000 yuan per unit. If..."

"We’ll take 20."

"350,000 yuan per unit." Internally, Zhang Xiyi was overjoyed and quickly offered his best price.

The negotiations lasted all afternoon.

Zhang Xiyi secured a massive order from Hailufeng Company, including 100 tractors and their corresponding towed implements, 30 large combine harvesters, 20 large forage harvesters, 100 sets of 800-meter center-pivot irrigation systems, 30 sets of 400-meter center-pivot irrigation systems, 50 large crop protection drones, plus a huge pile of spare parts.

The total value of the contract was 160 million yuan.

Although it couldn’t compare to the order Sany Heavy Industry had gotten from Hailufeng Company, it was still a very respectable deal.

After signing the contract, Zhang Xiyi stated that all the equipment would be delivered to Home County within two months.

As time went on, the HR department’s efforts to poach talent from all over North China and Northeast China were also proceeding very smoothly.

After all, generous rewards will always attract capable people.

Hailufeng Company offered experienced drivers skilled in operating harvesters, tractors, and bulldozers a starting package at the C2 level. This meant a base salary of 10,500 yuan, and with various performance bonuses and subsidies, their take-home pay could reach 18,000 to 20,000 yuan per month.

As for professional drivers fresh out of technical school, they started at the D3 level with a base salary of 5,500 yuan per month. As long as they could reach the level of an experienced driver within a year, they could also be promoted to the C2 level.

To prevent experienced drivers from gatekeeping knowledge from new hires, the company also established a mentorship incentive program. If a newcomer they trained met the required standards, their mentor would receive a one-time bonus of 20,000 yuan.

The number of employees at the Tamin Chagan Base had now finally surpassed 600. It was expected to continue growing until it reached about one thousand.

Of course, the 500-plus members of the desert leveling construction team would eventually move on to other desert regions; they were only temporarily assigned to the Tamin Chagan Base.

Once the Tamin Chagan Base is fully operational, it will have about 500 to 600 permanent staff responsible for managing the 58,000 acres of desert farmland, as well as the associated livestock farm and feed processing plant.

Even with just 500 to 600 people, the annual expenditure on wages and bonuses would be as high as 150 million yuan.

However, the 33,000 acres of soybean fields could yield 120,000 tons of high-quality soybeans annually. At current market prices, this would generate roughly 500 million yuan in revenue.

The 16,500 acres of pastureland could produce 250,000 tons of high-quality hay annually. At around 2,000 yuan per ton, that’s another 500 million yuan in revenue.

Furthermore, the remaining 8,200 acres of dune pasture could produce 125,000 tons of hay or 400,000 tons of fresh grass, enough to raise 200,000 Small-tailed Han sheep. This is because fattening lambs, raised from a young age, are ready for market in just three to four months.

Calculating with 200,000 fattening lambs, at a market weight of 45 kilograms for Small-tailed Han sheep, and even at the lowest purchase price of 20 yuan per kilogram, this flock would be worth 180 million yuan.

Adding in revenue from other by-products, the total annual revenue could reach around 1.2 billion yuan.

Of course, even considering future price drops for soybeans, beef, and mutton, a conservative estimate of 800 to 900 million yuan in annual revenue should not be difficult to achieve.
