Chapter 310: Chapter 263: The Mantis Stalks the Cicada
CRACK... CRACK...
Cyan blades rained down, striking the Golden-Winged Eagle’s petrified wings one after another. In mere moments, the stony wings were covered in cracks. The eagle’s aura descended into utter chaos, and it couldn’t stop coughing up blood.
"Golden-Winged Eagle!"
Yu Changsheng gritted his teeth, his eyes flickering with panic and indecision. With a grim expression, he waved his hand, preparing to recall his Golden-Winged Eagle.
At the sight, Yang Chengxu’s gaze turned icy. With a flick of his sleeve, his Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon weaved through the torrent of blades. As it moved, the blades began to merge, quickly forming a massive Cyan Celestial Saber hundreds of zhang long. It spiraled down from the heavens with a piercing whistle!
"Make your move now!"
The panic in Yu Changsheng’s eyes vanished as he roared. In that same instant, his power erupted. A fireball condensed in his left hand while his right channeled Void Fire, exuding a vast, ethereal aura. The two forces rapidly fused, becoming a colossal fireball that shot above his head. It expanded to hundreds of zhang, forming a second sun—a Void Fire Haoyang—to intercept the Cyan Celestial Saber!
BOOOOOOM!!!
The Void Fire Haoyang exploded, and the Cyan Celestial Saber shattered along with it. The Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon shrieked in pain, its body blasted away by the shockwave. The Golden-Winged Eagle fared no better; it fell unconscious and transformed into a streak of light as Yu Changsheng recalled it to his Inner Realm.
At that exact moment, a slightly lazy voice called out.
"Molten Rock Red Mountain!"
And so, the phantom of a vast volcano materialized, standing tall in the sky. It continuously spewed a dense barrage of meteorites that rained down toward Yang Chengxu.
Atop the volcano, a sea of fire billowed and tore a rift in the surrounding cyan light, from which a vast, slender behemoth emerged.
This behemoth was covered in crimson Dragon Scales mixed with earthen yellow. Its three pairs of draconic claws glinted like molten gold, and a casual swipe seemed capable of tearing through the void itself.
Its head resembled an ox, yet it bore some features of a Pangolin. Its antlers, like a deer’s, coiled toward the heavens, trailing yellowish-red flames. The creature was dozens of meters long, with a strange tail that was both draconic and armored at the tip. Blood-red whiskers drifted in the wind beneath its bestial maw. With every breath, it exhaled billows of hot, white mist. Its majestic, crimson draconic eyes radiated a formidable aura, and its appearance alone stirred the clouds and made the very void tremble.
Atop this massive draconic head stood a nonchalant figure in white robes. He leaped down toward Yu Changsheng and spoke with a hint of apology.
"Sorry, Brother Changsheng. I’m a bit late. You alright?"
Who else could it be but Li Minghan?
"I’m fine. As long as you’re here," Yu Changsheng said, shaking his head. He let out a slow breath, feeling a great sense of relief.
’Even though I improved immensely in the Illusion Mist Beast Valley, I wasn’t the only one. Yang Chengxu has grown stronger too.’ The pressure he exerted on Yu Changsheng was no less than last time, and in their several exchanges, Yu Changsheng had failed to gain any advantage.
Meanwhile, Yang Chengxu’s expression returned to normal after his initial surprise. With a wave of his hand and a series of seals, a golden Light Shield materialized around him. He remained completely unmoved as the Celestial Fire Meteorites rained down upon it.
The Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon roared. Snapping back to its senses, it whipped its tail fiercely, causing the phantom volcano to collapse and dissipate in an instant. It then stared at Li Minghan’s tamed beast. Their eyes met as they faced off across the void, their vast draconic mights clashing and soaring into the heavens.
"A Red Mountain Sub-Dragon? No, that’s not right. It hasn’t fully transformed. So it’s a flawed specimen. That vial of Spirit Dragon Blood... so it was you who consumed it, you brute."
Yang Chengxu’s eyes narrowed as he focused on Li Minghan, and understanding dawned on him. He glanced at the Red Mountain Sub-Dragon circling up to confront his Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon and sneered.
"It used the Spirit Dragon Blood and still couldn’t even fully transform, retaining some of its old features. What a waste of a priceless treasure. Still, since you’re here now, you won’t be completely without value. You can serve as food to help my Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon evolve."
"Are you sleep-talking?" Li Minghan chuckled, rolling his eyes and raising an eyebrow. "It may not have fully transformed, but it’s more than enough to deal with you."
The Red Mountain Sub-Dragon was the precursor to the Red Mountain Spirit Dragon, and its potential actually surpassed that of the Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon. After all, the Red Mountain Spirit Dragon possessed a bloodline inherently superior to that of the Celestial Cyan Spirit Dragon.
Now, after having consumed the Spirit Dragon Blood, Li Minghan’s Dragon Scale Red Mountain Armor had finally undergone another evolution. Although not much time had passed and it hadn’t fully transformed—retaining some of its previous, rather strange features—its power had undergone an earth-shattering change.
"Is that so? It’s still nothing but a worthless beast."
Yang Chengxu shook his head, showing no signs of panic. He looked toward his Celestial Shadow Dragon and Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon, then suddenly slapped his chest. He exhaled twice, and with each breath, a mouthful of rich, crimson blood flowed from him into the bodies of his two beasts.
"With my heart’s blood... Heaven-reaching Beast Taming!"
Yang Chengxu’s face flushed red as he let out a low cry. As he expelled his heart’s blood, his own aura surged, and his cultivation climbed rapidly. Before long, he reached the Foundation Establishment Eighth Layer.
The Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon and the Celestial Shadow Dragon were also empowered by Yang Chengxu’s heart’s blood. A bloody light emanated from their bodies as a berserk aura raged forth, their vast draconic might growing more profound and suppressing everything around them. With a single shudder, the Celestial Shadow Dragon threw off the Red Refining Snake, breaking free of its coils. Its massive body unfurled, claiming a corner of the sky.
"Boundary Pearl, seal!"
Yang Chengxu’s eyes snapped open. He formed a hand seal and pointed to the sky. In that instant, the Boundary Array enveloping the area flashed and began to shrink, contracting from its original ten-li radius to three li—and it was still getting smaller.
