Magical beasts.

Creatures found only in regions dense in natural power, usually the forbidden regions like the forbidden mountains and forests.

These regions are forbidden not just because of the density of natural power but, most importantly, because of the number of incredibly dangerous magical beasts present there.

Magical beasts are ingrained in the essence of this world and rule the independent forbidden zones, forbidden not just to humans, but to the other races, except for one.

Some of these magical beasts are said to be capable of growing to the size of houses, with mythical creatures governing the most treacherous zones of those regions.

Magical beasts are intelligent and powerful creatures who absorb natural powers in unique ways different from humans. They are like the darlings of nature itself; most are even more favored by natural power control than a mahji.

Adventurers hunt magical beasts for several reasons, like their by-products, to be used in combat when tamed by a powerful mahji with such a trait.

However, these hunts are kept on the outermost fringes of the forbidden zones where the weakest magical beast call their territories; even at that, to be safe, it is recommended that an adventurer reach at least the master realm before venturing to the fringes of the forbidden zones.

Adventurers of lower realms hunt normal beasts, which also can be used in various ways; the only difference is that, though some common beasts contain various quantities of natural power, the quality is extremely low and minuscule as compared to magical beasts.

Common beasts also lack intelligence as well as a beast soul, a prerequisite for taming.

Even the by-products of magical beasts and the variations of wondrous purposes they can serve are miles ahead of even the most powerful common beasts.

This was all the information Ben currently knew of magical beasts, and this Night Eagle on the stage before him, even though from the outermost fringes of the forbidden zone, was an incredibly rare find since the species itself wasn’t all that common.

In fact, magical beasts are mostly auctioned out at dawn’s yearly auction, which made the appearance of this beast very shocking to most.

However, not to all, since Ben could see a few people who acted like they had been expecting this, and the gorgeous lady he had his eyes on was one of them.

It isn’t an uncommon practice to let slip what items would be on auction to influential figures so they prepare well when coming. This would allow the auction houses to make even more money, so it’s expected.

The cage rattled powerfully, as the Night Eagle slammed its huge body frantically from side to side, trying to burst free from its confinement, but nothing it did caused even a bulge.

The cave was enchanted by a special type of power.....

Ben had felt a similar method being used before; it was akin to the aura of the cell he was previously being held in when he arrived in this new world.

Though at the time, Ben was only a mortal, so he could only recall it as a feeling. Now that he is a noble knight, he could sense just how potent the restraining force on that cage is.

Still, the beast didn’t stop; it kept thrashing about, and the audience marveled at the wonder of the creature, most ready to spend all they had left on them to win a magical beast of this caliber, and others who had come relatively prepared were finally ready to make their moves.

Magical beast by-products are the core component for most powerful potions, gear, or artifacts, and are very versatile in use.

Every part of a magical beast is priceless, from their meat to its blood to its organs.

The number of times a magical beast that had attained the master realm appeared in the Wolfe Duchy was quite few, and it is mostly used for their special byproducts.

Of course, there is another more efficient and beneficial means to use magical beasts. But just as Healer Mahji’s are rare, Beast Tamer Mahji’s are even more so.

"Honored guests, and distinguished ladies and gentlemen....."

"I believe our last item for the evening needs no introductions..." Kalem began with a proud smile as he announced over the shrieks of the magic beast.

"So without further ado..... I open this bid session at ten thousand gold!"

"Eleven thousand!"

"Twelve thousand!"

"Thirteen thousand!"

"Fifteen thousand!"

Bids came pouring in left and right from the audience, while the elites simply waited in silence.

As the bid crossed over the thirty thousand mark, most people had given up, and the bidding began to slow down, then.....

"Forty thousand!"

Came a bid from the red-haired young man; it seemed he too was interested in the magical beast, however.....

"Fifty thousand"

Countered one of the guests behind a veil in one of the private viewing rooms.

Now the audience had realized that most of them could no longer play in this game and simply watched with interest as the strong bids carried on.

"Sixty thousand!"

"Sixty-two!"

"Sixty-five thousand!"

"Sixty-eight!"

Kalem was smiling ear to ear as he received bids from the guests up in the private rooms as well as from the red-haired young man below.

All the while, Ben was curiously checking out the lady he had his eyes on, who had not made any bids yet and was simply watching, until suddenly.....

"One hundred thousand gold coins!"

The auction hall was shaken by this sudden jump in bids as everyone’s gaze shifted to the lady who now had a focused expression on her beautiful face that seemed to say, ’No one gets this magic beast but me!"

The bidding began to near its final legs, with just a little back and forth from another guest from the private viewing rooms, but the lady was winning.....

"One hundred and twenty thousand gold coins..."

"Going once...."

"Going twice...."

Everyone expected the lady to already have it in the bag, because who would be crazy enough to raise such an already ridiculous bid.....However.....

"ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND GOLD!"
