I was Chosen By A Perverted Goddess To Help Save Her World
Chapter 109: I Need Your Help"Excuse me– but who are you to call me a thief ?"
Ben said to the young man before him, with obvious distaste on his expression. This caused an angry vein to bulge on the forehead of the young man, his glare at Ben becoming even more bloodthirsty.
The young man appeared to be on the verge of ordering one of the burly men he’d brought along to teach Ben some manners, but as he looked around him, he hesitated, as he said to Ben in a spiteful tone.
"You know, I did a little digging into you, since you dared to steal the room that I, Argon, had reserved...."
"But it turns out you are just some nobody commoner, holding the undeserved status of Mahji healer in training... but so what ?"
Argon spoke as he inched closer to Ben, now standing in front of him, a head taller than Ben, but with a less toned physique. The contrast between their striking hair colors, one vibrant red and the other ashen silver, created quite the impression.
"If you don’t know, my family even has the employ of a mid-stage master healer mahji....." Argon uttered indignantly into Ben’s ears, his voice dripping with spite and condescension.
"So you..."
"You are nothing special, just a lucky commoner who doesn’t know his place." He added, raising his right hand in an attempt to condescendingly pat Ben’s cheek.
Ben didn’t know what this person was going on about, but he would be dammed if he just stood there and took it. There is a formula on how to respond to bullies, and Ben always applied said formula.
Ben caught Argon’s hand mid-action before Argon could even react; then he used his other hand to instead pat the red-headed youth gently on the cheek as he responded with a smile....
"And you are just a snort-nosed entitled brat with faeces for brains."
The color completely drained from Argon’s face; his body trembled in rage from the humiliation.
He had thought he would come and force an apology from this mortal commoner who had caused him to lose face and go sit with the crowd.
Argon Kane, who had always been the de facto occupant of the private viewing area number one, was told by the manager of the auction house that his booth had been taken by another.
Only to find out that this person was just a nobody, a weak commoner playing at being an esteemed healer in training.
Though this person had a connection to the duchess, it was dismissive at most, and the Wolfes weren’t as impressive as they used to be, especially not to the Kanes.
Yet this person had been bold enough to look down on him. It was preposterous.
Argon felt like using the difference in their realms to mete out the deserved punishment on this presumptuous fool, but he held back as they were still inside the Dawn auction house.
That the Dawn auction being able to hold, sell, and maintain such precious goods speaks volumes about their strength.
The place was swarming with Dawn auction powerhouses disguised as staff. Everyone who attends the auctions regularly knows this. And they have a strict rule: no conflicts inside the house.
This level of deterrence still wouldn’t have been enough to hold back someone like Argon Kane, except this ever-present force in all their branches wasn’t the only reason the Dawn auction is feared so.
They had one incredible backing in the capital, someone the grand duke wouldn’t dare cross, and whom even the king treats with care.....The Double Swords Saint.
With all these factors combined, it would be incredibly foolish to want to try something with the Dawn auction house without proper planning.
"Remove your hand!"
One of the burly guards whom Argon had brought along now had his hand on Ben’s, glaring murderously like he was going to snap it in half any second from now if Ben didn’t let go of his master.
His grip was strong, since both guards were in the master realm. If Ben was just a mortal, he felt his bones would have already been cracked by the force this person was placing on his arm.
Smiling, Ben opened his palm, letting go of Argon’s arms, while the guard then took his hand off him as well.
A sneer stretched on Argon’s face, turning his back to Ben as he threatened....
"You will regret this." Then he walked off with his twin guard trudging ahead and behind him.
Ben stood there in the connecting passageway of the private viewing rooms, wondering why trouble always seemed to locate him in this new world. He didn’t even ask to be put in some fancy room. And now he had to deal with all this.
Sighing, he was about to go try and locate the lady he had his sights on when he saw someone climbing up the stairs and heading in his direction with an enchanting smile.
"Hope you enjoyed the auction, Mr Hardwood."
Lutia, the auction house manager, was now standing in front of Ben. Getting her name and identity from the maidservant who was attending to him wasn’t hard.
Now he wondered why the auction house manager would go out of her way to treat him as a VIP.
’She must want something.’
Ben thought, nodding politely as he replied to her question. And as expected, Lutia’s next words confirmed Ben’s assertion.
"Glad to hear that, My Hardwood....And if it’s fine with you, could you spare a few minutes of your time for my boss...."
"He would like a word with you." Lutia implored with a beautiful smile.
’Hmm....I guess there’s nothing like a free meal.’
Ben thought inside. Outright rejecting such a polite request from people who had treated him so nicely without knowing what they wanted to talk about would just be plain rude.
"Lead the way, Lady Lutia."
Lutia smiled in satisfaction and gestured for Ben to follow her through the floor as they passed by several doors that led to the other private viewing room until coming upon a lone door on the opposite side, about double the size of the other doors,
Lutia pushed it open, and they walked into an office, where the slender auctioneer instantly stood smiling from his chair as he saw Ben, and greeted him as he walked towards him with a handshake....
"Nice to meet you, Mr Hardwood...."
"I am Kalem."
"Nice to meet you as well, Mr Kalem," Ben greeted back politely, taking the man’s handshake as he led Ben to sit on one of the two ornate chairs in the center room, before Lutia proceeded to pour some wine into two cups.
Kalem, now seated in front of Ben, looked Ben seriously in the face as he said....
"Mr Hardwood... "
"I need your help."
