Aldes turned to Leafa. "Should we be worried?"

*Snap.*

Leafa snapped her fingers. Instantly, a circular magical energy enveloped the entire ship. The invisible shield emitted a dim blue glow as it withstood the pounding rain.

"No," Leafa answered briefly. Her eyes stared straight at the giant reptile-headed octopus monster in the distance. "We just need to watch."

"I see." Aldes nodded slowly.

Two seconds passed. Aldes rolled his eyes. "Tch."

"Then why did you make me panic by calling me Darlin?!" Aldes raised his voice. "And making the monster seem so terrifying."

Aldes leaned his body forward and mimicked Leafa's way of speaking. He narrowed his eyes. "What level is that? Forty? Sixty? No, two hundred?!"

Leafa fell silent, staring at Aldes's annoyed face. A second later, the girl burst into loud laughter.

"Hahaha." Leafa held her stomach. Her shoulders shook violently.

"I just." Leafa laughed freely again. The corners of her eyes were slightly watery. "Hahaha."

Leafa wiped the corners of her eyes and stood upright. "I just wanted to tease you."

The girl reached out and tightly grasped Aldes's right hand.

*Swish.*

The view of the ship's deck instantly vanished. The freezing storm wind slammed directly into Aldes's face.

The two of them were now floating in the air, hundreds of meters above sea level. Leafa's hand held Aldes's body to keep him from falling.

Aldes looked down. His eyes widened seeing the monster's appearance from up close. The monster's head resembled a giant prehistoric lizard with rows of sharp teeth the size of building pillars. The scales all over its body were extremely thick, mottled dark green, and covered in sea barnacles. Its giant tentacles writhed, crushing the waves.

*Its true form is far larger than I expected,* Aldes thought.

Lightning struck brightly in the sky.

"Wait, is that." Aldes narrowed his eyes.

On the surface of one of the monster's tentacles, a man stood very calmly. The man had red hair, a pair of black horns, a deep red combat uniform, and a white cloak billowing wildly in the storm.

He held a glowing red sword. The blade was extremely thin and curved, resembling a katana. The hilt was black with intricate gold motifs carved into it.

The man was Amor.

Amor stood firmly, withstanding the tentacle's tremors. His armored boots emitted extreme heat, burning the skin of the tentacle he stepped on and producing plumes of fishy-smelling white smoke.

"I just painted this," Amor muttered quietly.

He let out a long breath. His right hand lowered his sword slightly, pointing the blade straight ahead.

*Fwoosh.*

The thin blade was instantly engulfed in pitch-black flames. The air around Amor rippled from the heat.

The monster realized his presence. Dozens of tentacles, ranging from medium to giant sizes, shot swiftly to target Amor's small body.

*Thud.*

The giant tentacle serving as Amor's foothold suddenly slammed upward with immense force. Amor's body was thrown, launching into the air.

*Swish.*

The other tentacles followed up, attempting to tear him apart in the air.

Amor spun his body like a top. His hand swung the black-flamed sword at lightning speed.

*Slash. Slash. Slash.*

The giant tentacle's flesh was sliced effortlessly like thin cuts of meat. The severed pieces plummeted, crashing into the ocean surface. Amor twisted his body in the air and landed on another intact tentacle.

The giant jaw of the lizard monster opened exceedingly wide. A blinding blue light gathered within its throat.

*Zing.*

The monster fired a pillar of light straight at Amor.

*Swish.*

Amor did not jump to dodge. Instead, he swung his sword downward, slashing deep into the tentacle he was standing on.

*Slash.*

The black flame from his sword embedded directly into the open wound. The fire immediately spread wildly, burning the flesh and veins of the tentacle. After ensuring the fire clung to it, Amor leaped powerfully into the air.

*Boom!*

The light beam missed. The energy pillar struck the ocean right beneath Amor. The seawater boiled instantly. An explosion of hot steam erupted high into the sky.

*Swish.*

Amor landed smoothly on another tentacle.

*Slash.* He slashed his foothold, embedded the black fire, and jumped again.

*Swish.*

He landed, slashed, and jumped again. New tentacles kept coming, trying to strike him from all directions.

*Swish. Slash. Swish. Slash.*

Amor slashed them all with precise and incredibly fast movements. Every time his sword touched the monster's flesh, the black fire was left behind.

In a short time, dozens of black fire spots merged. The blaze spread aggressively, engulfing the entire body of the giant monster. The sound of charred and boiling flesh hissed loudly, overpowering the sound of the rain. The monster thrashed in agony from the heat.

Amor bent his knees and leaped, rocketing incredibly high into the air, surpassing the position of the giant head.

Amor flipped his body. His head was now pointing downward. He aimed the tip of his sword straight at the monster's eyeball. Gravity pulled Amor's body down, piercing through the stormy air.

*Swish.*

*Buzzz.*

Amor thrust his thin sword right into the center of the giant monster's eyeball. The force of his fall drove the blade deep, all the way to the hilt.

*Gggrrrghh.*

The giant monster's body trembled violently. Its roar was choked in its throat. A wave of black fire exploded from inside its head and spread throughout all its blood vessels.

Slowly, the monster's scaly skin and thick muscles melted. The giant chunks of flesh peeled away from its bones and plummeted into the boiling ocean. In just a matter of seconds, the monster's entire organic body burned away entirely, leaving behind a massive white skeletal frame that slowly sank, swallowed by the night waves.
