[Marquis Fran POV]
After several minutes of fighting the Vampire, my body had accumulated several wounds.
This True Vampire was incredibly strong...
I couldn't even imagine how powerful a Noble Vampire would be—especially one far stronger than the True Vampire standing before me.
"What's wrong? Is that really the extent of your abilities?" the female Vampire taunted with a mocking laugh.
Well, even though this Vampire was strong, that didn't mean I couldn't defeat her. So far, I hadn't even revealed everything I was capable of.
I wanted to test her first—to see what abilities she possessed and where her limits lay—so I could land my magic successfully.
Knowing an enemy's abilities and limitations in a battle to the death was crucial.
I coated my sword in Mana and lowered myself into a stance, preparing to unleash this technique.
"Whatever you do, you won't be able to defeat me!" the Vampire shouted as she flew toward me.
"Flying Wind Blade!"
I swung my sword diagonally.
The Mana enveloping the blade shot forward, transforming into a blade of wind capable of striking an enemy from a distance.
However, the Vampire twisted her body and easily evaded the attack.
I didn't stop.
I continued swinging my sword, sending one Flying Wind Blade after another toward her.
Yet the female Vampire was incredibly agile. She effortlessly avoided every single one of my attacks.
"Your attacks are useless!" the Vampire declared before throwing a punch at me.
I tried to block it with my hand, but the sheer force behind her strike sent my body flying backward despite my attempt to stop it.
I drove my sword into the rooftop and used it to steady myself before standing upright again.
The Vampire was already flying toward me once more.
I lowered my stance again.
This time, I aimed the tip of my sword directly at her body.
I had to destroy her heart with this attack.
"Almahara: Jet Strike!"
My sword suddenly extended at incredible speed, striking the Vampire's body and sending her flying backward.
"Guuahhh! You bastard!" the female Vampire screamed in frustration.
But my sword continued to extend.
And extend.
Her body smashed through the walls of several buildings throughout the city, yet my sword showed no sign of stopping.
My magic could extend the sword up to one kilometer at a speed of fifty meters per second.
That was precisely why this attack was so difficult to evade.
BOOOOOM!
A deafening roar echoed through the city as the Vampire finally crashed into the clock tower.
My sword had also reached its maximum length.
"Reverse..."
The moment I spoke the word, the sword began retracting until it returned to its original length.
Author's Note:
Marquis Fran's ability to extend his weapon works the same way as Emilia's. Just a fun fact for anyone who forgot.
"Did I manage to hit her heart?" I muttered as I stared toward the clock tower.
All I could see was a thick cloud of smoke surrounding it.
Then, something emerged from the smoke and flew into the air.
I finally had my answer.
"Looks like she managed to evade my attack at the very last moment..." I muttered, slightly frustrated that my attack had failed to kill her.
But I couldn't afford to dwell on it.
The Vampire was already flying toward me again.
"Damn you, Human! That really hurt!"
She threw another punch at me, but I immediately used Accel to dodge to the side.
The Vampire didn't stop.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
She twisted her body in midair and launched a kick straight toward my head.
BAM!
Her kick sent my body flying.
I fell from the rooftop and crashed downward.
Once my vision cleared, the Vampire was nowhere to be seen.
Then I heard something.
I immediately turned my head toward the sound.
She was flying toward me again, her fist already swinging.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
She attacked me relentlessly, blow after blow, filling my entire body with pain.
Up in the air, she had a tremendous advantage in maneuverability.
I couldn't keep track of her movements, much less find an opening to counterattack.
"Take this, trash!"
The Vampire delivered a devastating kick that sent me crashing through several nearby buildings.
My body finally fell onto the street below and rolled several times across the pavement.
"Ugh... Cough! Cough!"
Blood spilled from my mouth as I coughed.
I had most likely suffered internal bleeding, and several of my ribs were probably broken from the attacks I'd taken.
I forced myself to stand.
Looking ahead, I saw the Vampire flying toward me once again.
"All right... this will be my final attack," I muttered, gripping my sword tightly with both hands.
"To be honest, I didn't want to use my Awakening power. I haven't mastered it completely yet."
But I had no choice.
Because I still hadn't fully mastered this ability, activating it would consume far more Mana than it normally should.
Afterward, I would inevitably suffer Mana Exhaustion.
First, I forced myself to relax and steady my breathing.
Then I began gathering Mana, preparing my stance as I readied myself to activate my Awakening.
"This time, I'll kill you and feast upon the blood of every human under your command!"
I ignored her words.
My entire focus was on activating my Awakening.
"Hoja de la muerte..."
The moment I uttered the Awakening incantation, a green Mana aura suddenly enveloped both my body and my sword.
"Die!"
The Vampire charged toward me and threw another punch.
I successfully dodged it.
Then I swung my sword.
"Atomic Slash!"
With a single slash, the Vampire's body was instantly torn apart as though thousands of swords had struck her simultaneously.
When the attack ended, her body had been reduced to countless tiny fragments, scattering like grains of dust.
CRASH!
My body collapsed onto the city street.
Mana Exhaustion had taken hold immediately after I used my Awakening.
My vision began to blur...
"I hope my soldiers and Emilia can eliminate the monsters attacking the city..."

[Raul POV]
The battle was still raging.
I had just managed to stab one of the giant Minotaurs in the eye, causing it to go berserk and destroy everything around it—friend and foe alike.
But that alone wasn't enough.
The monsters were still surrounding an entire battalion of soldiers, whose numbers continued to dwindle with every passing moment.
Logically speaking, our chances of winning this battle were incredibly slim.
But if we gave up now, those chances would become zero.
There would be no hope left at all.
That was why every soldier had to find the courage to keep fighting.
Even with death standing directly before them, they could not afford to surrender.
"Keep fighting! Steel your resolve! It's not over yet!"
I shouted as loudly as I could, desperately trying to encourage them.
But a battle couldn't be won through morale alone.
The soldiers were gradually being driven back by the endless waves of monsters.
They were exhausted and covered in wounds after fighting these monsters for several hours.
What should I do?
Was there any way for these soldiers to defeat the monsters besides waiting for Ariel to become a Saint?
Der Innere Recthum Der Leute Ist~
Suddenly, I heard a beautiful song coming from behind us.
A golden light appeared, enveloping my body and the bodies of every soldier fighting for their lives against the monsters.
Wie Licht bunt, durch Farbgies hereinzuscheinen~
All the fatigue and wounds I had accumulated during the battle suddenly disappeared.
My body felt completely refreshed, as though the battle had never happened.
This magic...
Could it be!?
I turned around.
There, I saw an elegant woman standing with her eyes closed, her fingers interlaced as though she were singing a sacred prayer.
Das angeneme tägliche Leben Ist~
There was no mistake.
This was Ariel's power after becoming a Saint.
The Goddess Voice.
"Huh? Why did all my pain suddenly disappear!?"
"Look! My hand that was just severed is regenerating!"
"What kind of miracle is this!?"
The soldiers stared at their bodies in disbelief as every wound they had suffered during the battle healed in an instant.
Wie ein warmes Kerzenlicht...~
The song Ariel sang possessed the power to heal every physical wound suffered during battle.
That was why Saints were so feared by the armies of demons.
They could never hope to win a large-scale battle as long as a Saint was present on the battlefield.
Die sehr weite grüne Erde...!
Das reiche schöne Wasser...!
Ariel's beautiful voice continued to echo across the battlefield.
The soldiers who had previously been forced backward by the monsters began turning the tide.
"Push back! Attack those monsters!"
"That's right! With this miracle on our side, we can definitely defeat them!"
"Even if we're wounded, this mysterious light will keep healing us!"
The soldiers' morale soared after receiving Ariel's miraculous song.
Die grandjose Natur sorgt immer noch für ihre Kinder~
I refused to stand around doing nothing.
I charged forward and began cutting down the monsters surrounding us.
The monsters were visibly confused.
The soldiers they had nearly defeated only moments ago had suddenly regained their strength as though the battle had just begun.
Hoffentlich können wir es irgendwann verstehen~
Wir gehen zur anderen Seite des Horizontes~
The monsters began to be pushed back by the soldiers.
Then, one of the Minotaurs was finally brought down.
The sight of the giant creature collapsing caused the monsters' fighting spirit to falter.
"Keep advancing! Don't let them escape!"
"We'll avenge our fallen comrades!"
It didn't take long before we finally broke through the monsters' encirclement around all the soldiers in this area.
All thanks to Ariel's beautiful song.
Hoffentlich können wir es irgendwann verstehen~
Wir gehen festen Schrittes...~
In the end, the monsters began fleeing the area.
The soldiers pursued them in every direction throughout the city.
Once the battle in this area had ended, I turned around and walked toward Ariel, who had just finished singing her miraculous spell.
Her eyes slowly opened.
Our gazes met.
"You did it, Ariel," I said with a smile. "I knew you could do it."
She returned my smile.
"No. This was also thanks to you, because you've always helped me and believed in me."
Ariel then stepped closer.
The distance between us was less than a meter.
Her eyes, now a beautiful shade of violet, stared directly into mine.
"Hey, may I ask you something?" Ariel asked as she reached out and touched my hand.
But before I could answer, I caught sight of a Vampire flying toward us.
He landed atop a nearby building.
"HAHAHAHA! I can't believe I found a Saint here!" the Vampire shouted excitedly.
"I thought Saints could only be chosen in the Holy City, surrounded by powerful people!"
Ariel turned around and looked at the Vampire.
Yellow eyes.
Red wings.
There was no mistake.
He was a Noble Vampire—a creature powerful enough to kill the Empire's strongest Grand Espada, Liana de Grantz.
"The Demon King will surely reward me handsomely if I can kill both the Hero and a Saint at the same time!"
So...
It seemed he was going to be the Final Boss of this battle.
