Chapter 150: Chapter 150: You’re Finished
First Uncle Sinclair’s family of three wailed frantically, but they were held fast and couldn’t move an inch. Bystanders who tried to call the police were deftly intercepted by the bodyguards.
When Leah was finally done, she slowly emerged from the house, clutching a stick and Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait. Her hands were cut by flying shards of glass and dripping with blood, and her face was marked with a couple of small, bloody scratches.
The three Sinclairs watched her draw closer step by step, looking like a demon from hell. They trembled in terror, especially since she was still clutching Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait.
"Leah!" Mason rushed forward to examine her hand.
Leah threw the stick to the ground, panting heavily. "One million? Heh... You sold Grandma’s life for one million. How can you look at her picture every day and not have nightmares?"
"I curse you! You will have nightmares every day—*every single day*! Grandma will never forgive you!"
With that, Leah turned away from them and walked out, clutching Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait. Mason, afraid for her safety, rushed to follow, but Brandon Jacobs patted Mabel Grant’s hand. "You two head back with her. I’ll take care of things here."
"Okay," Mabel Grant agreed, and quickly followed.
Leah got into the car, clutching Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait tightly to her chest. She closed her eyes and spoke a single sentence, "I want to go to the Sterling family’s home."
"Alright, to the Sterling family’s home."
Mabel Grant gave the driver the address, and the car sped off. The entire way, Leah held Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait without speaking or opening her eyes.
Mason was too worried about her state to do nothing. Once they entered Riverfall, he sent a text to Asher Keating. "Asher, we’re going to the Sterling family’s home. Leah... went to the Sterling family’s home."
Asher had just finished a meeting. The moment he saw the message, he grabbed his jacket and left. Ethan Shaw, who had been waiting for him in his office, saw that something was wrong and hurried out after him.
"To the Sterling family’s home," Asher said to Sean Yates as he walked.
"Yes."
Sean Yates immediately pressed the button for the elevator. Asher didn’t know what had happened. ’Leah and the others came back from Stonecreek and are suddenly heading to the Sterling family’s home,’ he wondered. ’Could this be about Grandma Sinclair?’
Grandma Sinclair’s "accident" had happened so suddenly. After Leah cut all ties with the Sinclair family, he hadn’t paid any more attention to their business.
The moment the car stopped at the Sterling family’s gate, Leah got out and headed straight inside. Mason and Mabel followed her. On the way, Mabel had called Nathan Grant and asked him to arrange for bodyguards to come over.
So Nathan and Shawn Grant were already at the Sterling residence. The Sterling family was surprised by the siblings’ sudden visit; they had tried to go to the Grant family home to apologize before but had been turned away at the door by Mabel. Now, several of them were in the living room making small talk with the brother and sister.
When Leah walked into the Sterling family’s living room holding Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait, everyone there stared at her in disbelief. Her eyes swept coldly around the room. "Where’s Madeline Sterling?"
"Leah... what is all this?" Morgan Sterling asked, standing up with a frown.
"Where is Madeline Sterling!"
"Why are you calling for me?"
Madeline Sterling walked out of the kitchen, looking impatient and holding a bowl of bird’s nest soup. She had been slapped so many times a few days ago and was focused on recovering. After all, she had a very important commercial to film in a little while.
"That night, didn’t we already..."
The moment she saw Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait, Madeline Sterling stopped talking. The bowl in her hands faltered.
Leah advanced on Madeline step by step, then set Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait down on the Sterling family’s dining table, facing her directly. "Recognize her?"
"I... I don’t. Who is that?"
Madeline set the bowl down with trembling hands, her gaze shifting evasively. She had never actually met Grandma Sinclair, having sent her people to do the job, but she could guess whose face was in the portrait.
"You don’t recognize her? But my grandmother recognizes you, Madeline Sterling!" With that, Leah slapped her across the face.
"AH! How dare you hit me!"
Once the shock wore off, Madeline screamed and lunged at Leah to retaliate. But she couldn’t win. Leah had been fighting with people like Jack Sinclair since she was ten; Madeline was no match for her at all.
Everything happened so suddenly that before the Sterling family could react, Nathan and Shawn Grant had already rushed in to break up the fight. By the time the Sterlings recovered and called for their own bodyguards, the Grant family’s bodyguards had stepped forward. The two sides stood in a tense standoff, and the scene instantly became chaotic.
When Asher and Ethan Shaw rushed in, all they saw was Leah fighting like a wild animal, desperately trying to break free from Shawn Grant’s grasp. "Madeline Sterling! Give me back my grandmother’s life!"
"What does that have to do with me? It wasn’t me who pushed her!" Madeline screamed frantically, held back by Nathan Grant.
When Asher saw the blood on Leah’s hands and the scratches on her face, a chilling light flared in his eyes. He rushed over and pulled her into his arms. "Leah, what’s wrong?"
A moment ago, Leah had been truly frenzied. Her eyes were completely bloodshot, her hair was disheveled, and she looked nothing like her usual self.
Hearing Asher’s voice and smelling his familiar scent, she finally began to calm down, though her whole body was still trembling.
"Asher..."
"I’m here."
Asher looked at her, his eyes filled with heartache. He knew that Leah could be truly fierce when provoked, but he had never seen her like this. In that moment, all he felt for her was pain.
The tears Leah had been holding back the entire ride finally fell. She clutched Asher’s clothes tightly, her body shaking so much she couldn’t form a complete sentence. "Asher... Grandma... Grandma..."
Mason came forward and quickly explained everything. Asher lifted his head to look at Madeline Sterling, his face devoid of emotion. That one look, however, was filled with a deep, menacing aura. Madeline began to tremble; even during their last confrontation, Asher had never looked at her like that.
The emotional highs and lows were too much for Leah, and she cried until she passed out. Asher stood up with her in his arms and shot Madeline a single glance. "You’re done for."
Without another word, he carried Leah from the Sterling family’s home, not once looking back. Mabel, her own eyes red with anguish after watching Leah’s rampage, walked up and simply looked at Madeline. "He’s right. You’re done for."
She stepped forward, retrieved Grandma Sinclair’s funeral portrait, and left the Sterling home. Seeing that it was over, the others quickly left as well. It felt as though a storm had ripped through the Sterling family’s dining room in the span of just half an hour.
Thomas Sterling nearly choked. His health was already poor, and the stress of one event after another these past few days had been too much. He suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, and the Sterling household instantly descended into chaos once more.
When Leah woke up, it took her a moment to realize she was in the hospital. Her head ached, and she lay there, her eyes lifeless. Asher noticed she was awake and quickly stood up, taking her hand. "You’re awake?"
Leah turned her head to look at him, her expression blank. After a moment, the afternoon’s events flooded her mind. Tears immediately began to fall, and though her lips trembled, she couldn’t speak a word.
Asher pulled her into his arms. "I know everything now. Don’t worry. Grandma... she won’t have died for nothing."
