I'm Already the Richest Man, Why Did My System Just Arrive?
Chapter 313 - 184: SupervisorChapter 313: Chapter 184: Supervisor
After saying this, Hero Pei covered his mouth in terror.
WHOOSH!
A leaf silently pierced through the sedan chair, passed through Hero Pei’s forehead, and sent a small spray of blood into the air.
The Supervisor twisted another leaf between his fingers.
"So, who was it that said the word ’unlucky’?"
The Martial Knights had never seen anything so bizarre. Iron Maiden included, they all recognized the strangeness of the situation. When Pei Rushi tumbled from his horse, the remaining five all clamped their hands tightly over their mouths and noses.
But as the Supervisor spoke, another person, while covering their mouth and nose, clenched and unclenched their jaw, involuntarily letting a strange "Mmmph-mmmph..." sound escape from between their fingers.
"Honest."
The Supervisor smiled and flicked out another leaf.
Iron Maiden flipped her wrist, shaking out her Nine-Section Whip, just as she was about to block it.
"Don’t move. Wouldn’t you rather stay alive?"
The Supervisor smiled, and Iron Maiden’s movements froze unnaturally. Everyone could only watch helplessly as another person fell from their horse, dead but with their eyes wide open.
Two leaves, two soft chuckles, two men killed.
As the second Knight was killed by a leaf, the horses beneath Iron Maiden and the other three began to foam at the mouth one after another, kneeling to the ground and rolling in panic, throwing their riders off.
The Secret Factory didn’t exterminate them all. After killing two, they rode away.
Covered in mud, Iron Maiden struggled up from the ground. But as soon as she was on her feet, her legs went weak and she collapsed again.
Recalling what had just happened felt like a dream. She couldn’t believe it.
...
The members of the Secret Factory arrived at Hidden Sword Manor.
"The Secret Factory is on official business! Open the gates at once! Otherwise, you will be killed without question."
The gatekeeping disciple of Hidden Sword Manor turned pale upon hearing the name "Secret Factory," but he quickly composed himself.
"Please wait a moment, my lords. I will go inside and report to the Patriarch."
"Supervisor?"
There was a moment of silence from within the sedan chair.
Then came the crisp sound of knuckles gently tapping on a wooden table.
TAP. TAP. TAP.
"Much obliged."
The Supervisor said with a smile.
...
When Xie Luohe said the word "Court."
Zheng Xiu’s first thought was "the army."
The classic story of knights using their martial arts to defy authority, only to be brutally surrounded and annihilated, was all too common.
"It’s the Secret Factory!"
After whispering with a disciple for a moment, Dugu Xiang’s expression changed. "Our Hidden Sword Manor has supplied the Court with weapons and armor in the past. We’ve always stayed out of each other’s way. Why would the Secret Factory visit us in the dead of night?"
"Oh? The Jianghu rumors that Hidden Sword Manor has close ties to the Court are true after all."
Bai Xiaosheng listened and smiled, not at all surprised.
"It’s just business. When you’re in the Jianghu, you don’t always have a choice. Besides, Hidden Sword Manor is famous for its smithing. If we hadn’t compromised, we would’ve been courting death." Bai Xiaosheng wore a strange expression, but Dugu Xiang knew exactly what he was thinking. After his composed reply, Dugu Xiang pointed to one of the tunnels in the secret chamber. "Take this path forward. At the third fork, turn right. Go past two more forks, then turn left and head down. Keep going until you reach the very end, where you’ll hear the sound of water. On your right-hand side, there’s a sword-shaped handle. Turn the hilt left three times and right twice. After you hear a strange noise, the secret door will open, allowing you to leave the manor."
Dugu Xiang rattled off the secret way to leave the manor in one breath. Fatty Jiang was dumbfounded. After standing stunned for a moment, he was overjoyed. He quickly pulled out a brush and paper from his robes, wet the tip on his tongue, and hurriedly scribbled it all down.
A few moments later, Fatty Jiang closed his little notebook with satisfaction. "This’ll sell for a pretty penny."
Zheng Xiu: "..."
Dugu Xiang had been about to ask, "Did you get all that?" but seeing Bai Xiaosheng frantically scribbling notes, he swallowed his words. He took the *Plum Blossoms in the Snow* and said, "Besides Heaven and Earth, only the five... no, six of us here today know of this matter. I trust you will not speak of this to anyone."
Zheng Xiu nodded. "Of course."
Bai Xiaosheng scoffed. "Who would be that stupid?"
"Xiaotao, put the painting away." After giving the order, Xie Luohe sighed softly. "What a pity."
Dugu Xiang started walking up. "I will deal with the people from the Secret Factory. For the sake of our business dealings, they won’t make things difficult for me. It’s a ten-day journey to Ba Mountain. Let’s plan to meet at the foot of Ba Mountain in fifteen days. With Bai Xiaosheng’s skills, it shouldn’t be hard for him to find the rest of us."
"Then it’s settled!"
Bai Xiaosheng reluctantly tore his gaze away from the several paintings. The moment Cheng Xiao put away his share, Bai Xiaosheng was the first to slip into the secret passage.
The others followed, and the candlelight in the secret chamber was extinguished.
In the secret passage, Zheng Xiu watched the back of Xie Luohe walking ahead of him. Seeing that she had no intention of explaining herself, he couldn’t help but ask, "You said ’what a pity’ just now. A pity about what?"
Without turning back, Xie Luohe replied with a smile, "It’s nothing. Just a ’feeling.’ A bit of a pity."
Zheng Xiu: "’Feeling?’"
Xie Luohe: "Feeling."
Zheng Xiu sighed helplessly. "What I dislike most is when people are secretive."
Xie Luohe covered her mouth with a laugh. "Perhaps, one day, you’ll be happy about it."
"Absolutely not."
"Heh, who’s to say?"
The secret passage was pitch-black, but none of them were novices. They navigated by sensing the air currents and the subtle sounds of the wind moving through the tunnel. Before long, they followed Dugu Xiang’s instructions to the exit.
Bai Xiaosheng was already waiting there. He twisted the mechanism, and the exit of the secret passage opened. A gurgling stream flowed out of a narrow channel. The silhouettes of trees flickered on both sides. The moon was setting; Dawn was about to break.
The horizon was a dim white, casting a shimmering light on the flowing water.
From the outside, the entrance to the secret passage looked like a perfectly ordinary boulder. Shortly after they emerged, the boulder rumbled and moved, sealing the passage on its own. The path was one-way, a safe design indeed.
Bai Xiaosheng was well aware of the saying "walls have ears" and wasn’t foolish enough to discuss secrets out in the open. He glanced at Xie Luohe’s group of three, eyeing them askance. He looked at Xiaotao, then Xie Luohe, and finally, Zheng Xiu. He clapped Zheng Xiu heavily on the shoulder. "Younger Brother Gongsun, take care."
