Chapter 321: Chapter 187: Underground River

"My Ancient Map!"

Bai Xiaosheng grew anxious, but he glanced at the Palm Seal on the table and didn’t dare to lash out.

Zheng Xiu sighed helplessly and exchanged a look with Cheng Xiao and Bai Xiaosheng. Bai Xiaosheng asked in confusion, "Are the treasures hidden in Nie Gong’s Treasure Vault really that alluring?"

"Perhaps."

The three of them gave chase, riding out of the city on horseback.

They reached the vicinity of Ba Mountain around noon.

On the way, Zheng Xiu had been pondering the problem of Nie Gong’s Treasure Vault. ’No wonder Xie Luohe and I went into the caves every day and found nothing. So the direction was wrong all along. From the very beginning, Nie Gong’s Treasure Vault wasn’t hidden inside Ba Mountain itself, but underground.’

Bai Xiaosheng, relying on his memory, led them to a place that had once been a River. The ground was uneven. If one looked down from above, the faint outline of a riverbed could be seen, now overgrown with shrubs and piled high with rubble. If they hadn’t known in advance that this had been a river many years ago, it would have been impossible to tell just by looking at the terrain.

The path ended ahead. The three saw Xie Luohe’s horse tied to a tree trunk, so they had no choice but to dismount and proceed on foot.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

From a hundred paces away, Zheng Xiu and the others felt the ground tremble and the mountains shake. Up on the peak, boulders were breaking loose from the violent vibrations, tumbling down with a RUMBLE.

"Xie Luohe!"

Startled, Zheng Xiu quickened his pace, sprinting to the end of the riverbed.

Cheng Xiao and Bai Xiaosheng were even faster. Cheng Xiao even glanced back at Zheng Xiu curiously, his brow furrowed, as if wondering why the man who had shattered his Treasure Saber with a single palm strike had such weak Qinggong.

A figure was flying up and down, frantically striking the steep stone cliff.

Xie Luohe’s face was crazed. With every palm strike, sand and stones flew and wild winds rose. After Cheng Xiao and Bai Xiaosheng arrived, Xie Luohe actually went as far as to reveal her greatest secret. Black markings instantly covered her entire body, and a dark shadow flickered behind her. In that moment, her posture was like that of a Demon Fiend, utterly terrifying.

"What... in the world is she!"

Bai Xiaosheng, the author of the *Weapon Manual*, stared in horror at the frenzied Xie Luohe striking the mountainside. Her terrifying appearance scared him so much that he fell right on his butt. His gaze went slack as he kicked his legs out, scrambling backward as if instinctively fleeing the beast named "Xie Luohe" before him.

Even on Cheng Xiao’s perpetually impassive "dead man’s face," a rare flicker of emotion appeared. CLACK. His mouth fell open, unable to close, as the saber scabbard dropped from his robes to the ground.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Xie Luohe was still frantically hammering away at the stone cliff. Seeing that her bare hands weren’t efficient enough, she gave a cold sneer and took the Longbow from her back. Her movements were as fast as lightning; Zheng Xiu couldn’t even see what she did before twelve arrows were nocked on her bowstring at once.

DRIP. DRIP. DRIP.

Red blood dripped down the curve of the Longbow. Only then did the dumbfounded Zheng Xiu notice that Xie Luohe’s gloves were long since torn, her hands a mess of mangled flesh and pouring blood. Yet, as if she couldn’t feel the pain at all, she drew the bow to its fullest extent.

A black, ethereal glow silently enveloped the twelve arrows. Xie Luohe’s long hair began to move on its own, though there was no wind, blowing her sidelocks aside. The curtain of hair that always covered her right eye was swept up by this phantom breeze.

"Xie Luohe! That’s enough!"

’There’s definitely something wrong with Xie Luohe’s state of mind right now.’

For some reason, seeing Xie Luohe in this frenzied state, Zheng Xiu suddenly felt a dull ache in his chest, as if a hand were squeezing his heart. He rushed forward and hugged Xie Luohe tightly from behind, shouting, "That’s enough! Xie Luohe! Enough!"

Xie Luohe’s whole body trembled.

The taut bowstring slackened slightly. Xie Luohe stared blankly at the pitted stone cliff before her.

Her long hair fell back into place.

Zheng Xiu didn’t see the two words, "Ding Wei," flash in Xie Luohe’s right eye before vanishing.
