I'm Already the Richest Man, Why Did My System Just Arrive?
Chapter 352 - 199: A Grand WeddingChapter 352: Chapter 199: A Grand Wedding
Xie Luohe, however, was incredibly enthusiastic. After the archery range was built, she would leave town every day before dawn, carrying her new bow and riding her camel, Xiaomo.
When Zheng Xiu woke up, he would find hot steamed buns and goat’s milk on the table, but she would be nowhere in sight.
’Let her be.’
Zheng Xiu found it harder and harder to fathom what Xie Luohe was thinking.
While Xie Luohe was away, Zheng Xiu spent a few days thoroughly cleaning Mohe Pavilion. He selected a fine piece of poplar wood in town, stripped the bark and smoothed it himself, then used a small knife to carve the two words "Mohe Pavilion" onto the brand-new plaque.
’Gongsun Mo... Xie Luohe...’
The two words, carved with considerable flair, were finished. Zheng Xiu’s gaze lingered on the ’Mo’ and ’He’ within the name, and a strange feeling stirred in his heart. With a self-deprecating laugh, he brought over a ladder and hung up the new plaque.
At noon, the brand-new Mohe Pavilion appeared in Richan Town.
The Grand Elder seemed to have no grasp of the etiquette for a new store opening. Not bringing a gift was one thing, but he also "accidentally" brought a group of bare-bottomed children to run wild in the shop, one of whom left a puddle of pee in a corner.
Finding it both exasperating and hilarious, he shooed the children and the Grand Elder away.
As his supply of paper dwindled, Zheng Xiu decided not to waste any more paper and ink. After some thought, he took a basin, went just outside Richan Valley to collect fine sand, and carried it back to Mohe Pavilion.
When Xie Luohe returned from outside Richan Valley, dusty and travel-worn, she was carrying a few dead vultures.
"We’re eating well tonight!"
The courtyard where they lived was not far from Mohe Pavilion.
Xie Luohe hung her simple curved bow and quiver on the wall. The moment she returned, she noticed a basin of sand in the courtyard. While drawing water from the well, she asked curiously, "What’s this?"
"Sand art."
"Is it fun?"
"Come on, let me show you something new."
Seeing that Xie Luohe seemed interested, Zheng Xiu reached out a finger right in front of her and began to casually play with the sand.
On the soft, flat surface of the sand, a few small, intricate swords took shape as Zheng Xiu’s finger moved.
"...Ugly."
Xie Luohe gave her honest assessment.
"Heh."
Zheng Xiu scoffed; he had been waiting for her to say that. He slapped both palms on the surface of the sand. The small swords trembled slightly and then, bizarrely, stood up on their own.
"Oh?" Xie Luohe curiously reached out. With a few flicks of her finger, she shattered the small swords. She smiled and shook her head. "So fragile."
Zheng Xiu frowned as he watched Termagant Xie shatter his precious swords. ’That shouldn’t have happened,’ he thought. He formed another small sword, picked it up, and threw it at the wall.
TINK!
The sword made of sand flew like the wind and embedded itself firmly in the wall. After a long moment, it disintegrated back into sand, rustling as it fell and leaving a sharp-edged hole in the wall.
Only then did Zheng Xiu nod in satisfaction. ’Looks like it’s not that my great sword is weak, but that Xie Luohe is just too strong.’
’A sword’s effectiveness depends on who wields it.’
He trotted over to scoop up the sand from the floor, his face a mask of pained reluctance.
Seeing his miserly actions, Xie Luohe chuckled and asked, "How did you do that?"
Zheng Xiu didn’t hide anything. He smiled, casually pouring the sand in his hands back into the basin. "I mixed my blood in with the sand," he said.
Upon hearing this, Xie Luohe was stunned for a moment. She abruptly grabbed Zheng Xiu’s wrist, which had been hidden under his sleeve, and saw it was wrapped in layers of gauze. A pained look entered her eyes. "Don’t use your Miracle Technique anymore. It’s a waste of your lifeblood."
Zheng Xiu fell silent, not answering.
He actually wanted to say that it was all fake.
After she spoke, Xie Luohe paused, not continuing.
It was as if she knew what Zheng Xiu had wanted to say but had held back.
Then, Xie Luohe unwrapped the gauze on Zheng Xiu’s wrist, took out some medicinal salve she’d brought back with her, and carefully applied it for him.
「One month later.」
The desert dwellers of Richan Town had become familiar with Mohe Pavilion, and Zheng Xiu began to run his business in earnest.
He used the full extent of his power as a Painter to create several works he was satisfied with, trading them with a Merchant from the Western Regions for a shipment of spices, tea, and fine wine.
After the first shipment arrived, his paintings began to circulate in other lands. His Mohe Pavilion became a lively and thriving place, gradually attracting many merchants from other regions to stop by.
Richan Town was a strange place. Although only the Sun Tribe was stationed there, with no formal army or soldiers, the town was like a paradise. There were no disputes or fights; it was quiet, peaceful, and blissfully isolated from the struggles of the outside world.
At first, Zheng Xiu had thought of returning to the Central Plains to search for traces of "Zhu" and uncover the truth hidden in history. But as his business grew, and the gold leaves in his chest grew more numerous and heavier, he gradually suppressed the idea of leaving.
Xie Luohe had searched her whole life and found nothing. "Zhu" had remained hidden in the seams of history for a thousand years, only emerging two hundred years later to found Ye Weiyang as the "Night Lord." Here in the World in the Painting, for Zheng Xiu to find a "Human" who was deliberately hiding in the vast sea of people, the Difficulty was akin to finding a needle in a haystack.
Zheng Xiu decided that while he would continue to follow the Deep Path, he would first fulfill Xie Luohe’s three wishes.
「Two months later.」
In Richan Town, Zheng Xiu had acquired a well-known title: Boss Gongsun.
And Xie Luohe was known as the boss’s wife.
It was only later that Zheng Xiu realized Xie Luohe had, without him knowing, tricked him again. Her claim upon first entering Richan Valley that Zheng Xiu was her "captive" had been a lie.
As for what the truth was, the desert dwellers would only give him strange looks, refusing to say any more.
At the same time, Zheng Xiu also knew that everyone in the Sun Tribe, including the Grand Elder, seemed to regard them as a married couple.
