I'm Already the Richest Man, Why Did My System Just Arrive?
Chapter 358 - 201: RegicideChapter 358: Chapter 201: Regicide
"Xie. Luo. He."
Xie Luohe repeated her name, one syllable at a time.
...
Zheng Xiu walked through the streets. The festive atmosphere from yesterday had yet to fade.
He heard that Xie Yunliu had left early in the morning without saying goodbye.
Four young women from the Great Desert had stood guard at the valley entrance, weeping so pitifully toward the desert that the sky and earth seemed to change color.
’What a Playful Monk. Romps through a field of four flowers, then pulls up his pants and leaves without a care.’
Zheng Xiu was filled with emotion when he heard about it.
As he passed through the center of Richan Town, the Golden Cicada atop the monument glittered under the noon sun. The reflected golden light made Zheng Xiu take a second look.
Back home, Zheng Xiu looked up at his small, dilapidated courtyard, a strange and complex melancholy washing over him.
The two little camels, Xiaohe and Xiaomo, had been lying by the gate all night.
As Zheng Xiu passed by, he glanced at them. The two camels looked utterly exhausted, and he wondered what they had been through the night before.
’How strange.’
Gathering firewood, starting a fire, fetching water, boiling water.
Master Zheng, who had lived a pampered life for many years, never thought he’d see the day he would be doing such rough chores—and enjoying them, no less.
After spending a year with the Sun Tribe, Zheng Xiu looked back and realized he didn’t know when he had gotten used to this life—used to living with her.
HISS... SIZZLE... HISS...
Lost in thought, the water in the pot boiled over, spilling from under the lid and hitting the roaring flames with a piercing sound that snapped Zheng Xiu out of his reverie.
Zheng Xiu turned to see Xie Luohe leaning quietly against the doorframe, watching him bustle about with a smile.
"Does it still hurt?"
Zheng Xiu asked with concern.
Xie Luohe blushed, then rolled her eyes. "Why don’t you try it and see?"
"Unfortunately, I’m powerless to help."
Zheng Xiu replied with a laugh, which earned him a dudou—which she had been hiding behind her back—thrown at his face by an indignant Xie Luohe.
After they roughhoused for a bit, Zheng Xiu stood guard at the door, listening to the SPLASHING sounds of Xie Luohe playing in the water as she bathed inside.
They were, for all intents and purposes, a legally married couple now.
Zheng Xiu perked up his ears as a bold thought flashed through his mind.
’Could I...’
He was about to suggest they conserve water.
But Xie Luohe, from inside, seemed to have read his mind and shouted, "Don’t even think about it!"
...
After their wedding day, life for the two of them returned to a state of peace.
Zheng Xiu was still Boss Mo of Mohe Pavilion.
And Xie Luohe became the true lady boss.
Zheng Xiu discovered that ever since their wedding night, it was as if Xie Luohe had grown up overnight. She had also developed a strange new habit: she always liked to rub his face with her hands.
On the third day, Xie Luohe solemnly hung her simple Longbow on the wall.
Xie Luohe said with a smile that she was retiring from the Jianghu and turning over a new leaf.
Zheng Xiu thought for a moment and replied, "That’s great."
And so, Xie Luohe and Zheng Xiu managed Mohe Pavilion together. Business wasn’t booming, but their life was wonderfully leisurely.
Unlike Xie Luohe who had abandoned her bow to settle down, Zheng Xiu found himself with more time to delve into the art of painting.
For various reasons, Zheng Xiu didn’t bring up the three wishes he had promised Xie Luohe. He was almost certain she had lied to him, but at this point, he was already in too deep. He would just have to find another way.
Once, after they made love, Zheng Xiu held Xie Luohe and asked if he should fulfill his original promise: to pick an auspicious day and paint a proper portrait of her.
With her back to Zheng Xiu, Xie Luohe was silent for a moment before saying it wasn’t necessary and that they should save it for later. Then she wrapped herself around him again, as if trying to use this method to drain him of the spirit to think about the matter any further.
The two became a true married couple, sharing a bed and pillow, facing the Great Desert. They would climb the mountains together, smiling as they watched the clouds gather and disperse. Shoulder to shoulder, they would quietly gaze at the sunrise and sunset.
After Xie Luohe sealed away her bow, Zheng Xiu also solemnly placed the Luohe Brush in its wooden box and hid it under the bed.
Xie Luohe personally made a set of normal paintbrushes for Zheng Xiu and carefully admonished him not to use his Miracle Technique recklessly.
Zheng Xiu no longer painted Humans.
One day, a sandstorm kicked up in the depths of the Great Desert, blurring the line between Heaven and Earth. In the distance, the dark, swirling sands coiled and twisted, looking just like an Evil Ghost.
When Zheng Xiu saw this, something stirred within him. Inspiration struck unexpectedly, and for the first time, he tried to paint something... different on his canvas.
He had pushed open the sixth door.
「Time passed. In the blink of an eye, another two years went by.」
The peaceful Great Desert once again welcomed a distinguished guest—Xie Yunliu.
Xie Yunliu still had the same down-and-out appearance, his head completely bald, but with a thick beard growing on his chin. This time, his entry into the valley was not as eventful as the last. After giving Xie Luohe’s name, Xie Yunliu was warmly welcomed into the valley by Brother Ridi.
"Brother-in-law! Your place here is really not easy to get to! Look at me, I make a rare trip to visit family, and I run into a sandstorm that nearly cost me my life."
At the dinner table, Xie Yunliu complained as he drank the very same liquor he had once despised. This time, however, it had a taste that made him nostalgic.
"Brother, drink a little less. Those young women from last time still talk about you all the time. Don’t get drunk and do something to them again..."
Xie Luohe, her hair done up in a married woman’s bun, sat beside Zheng Xiu and said with a smile.
Having not seen her for a year, Xie Yunliu frowned as he looked at his little sister, now another man’s wife. He faintly sensed that she was different from before, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on how. ’Strange,’ he thought. He rubbed his bald head vigorously and temporarily cast his doubts aside.
’She’s already learned to favor an outsider.’
A moment later, this explanation occurred to him. Feeling melancholy, he gritted his teeth and toasted his brother-in-law several more times.
At the mention of the chaotic affair from the last time he was drunk, Xie Yunliu’s old face flushed red, and he waved his hands repeatedly. "Don’t! Please, spare your brother! I just came to see you two this time. I’m leaving tomorrow! Leaving tomorrow!"
