I'm Not Your Husband, You Evil Dragon!

Chapter 212: The Humanity-Level Threat

The next moment,

Yuuta’s eyes suddenly flew open.

"Gah...!"

His body stumbled forward before collapsing onto one knee. He instinctively caught himself with one hand against the ground while taking several sharp breaths. His heartbeat echoed loudly inside his ears as he struggled to understand what had just happened.

"W-What’s going on...?"

His voice sounded strangely hollow.

Everything around him felt unreal, as though he had just awakened from a dream that still clung to his mind. The memories were slipping away before he could fully grasp them, leaving behind only fragments that refused to make sense.

Yuuta slowly lifted his hand toward his face.

The moment he saw it...

His pupils shrank.

"...What?"

His hand...

It wasn’t flesh.

It wasn’t blood.

It was transparent.

His entire body looked like a faint spiritual silhouette, almost as though he no longer possessed a physical form. He could clearly see the world beyond his own fingers, making it seem as though he had become nothing more than a wandering ghost.

The first thought that entered his mind wasn’t fear.

It was confusion.

"Where... is my body?"

He immediately looked down at himself, hoping he was imagining things, but the result remained the same. His entire existence had become translucent, like a soul wandering through someone else’s memories. No matter how many times he blinked, nothing changed.

Yuuta slowly stood up and looked around.

His breathing stopped.

Before him stretched an endless sea of emerald grass unlike anything he had ever witnessed on Earth. Every blade shimmered with a faint green glow, gently swaying beneath a breeze filled with unimaginable vitality. The entire landscape radiated life itself, making every breath he took feel richer, purer, and incomparably fresher than the air of Earth.

Instinctively, Yuuta turned around after feeling a powerful current of wind rush past him.

His eyes widened.

Behind him stood the World Tree.

This time, however, he finally understood its true scale.

The colossal tree didn’t merely reach the clouds.

It pierced the heavens themselves.

Its branches stretched endlessly across the sky, supporting an entire world upon their ancient limbs. Mountains, rivers, forests, and what appeared to be entire cities rested among its countless branches, making Yuuta realize something that left him speechless.

He wasn’t standing beneath the World Tree.

He was standing...

On one of its branches.

The realization sent another chill through his body.

Everything surrounding him felt mythical, beautiful, and impossibly ancient. Yet no matter how hard he tried to observe the distant scenery, thick layers of mist obscured his vision. The nearby branches, the structures built upon them, and even the people moving in the distance remained frustratingly blurred, as though this memory itself had become damaged by the passage of time.

Yuuta narrowed his eyes, desperately trying to see through the fog.

Then...

His breathing stopped once again.

Far ahead...

Standing beneath another enormous branch...

He saw the same giant tree.

The very same tree he had touched inside the Soul Realm.

His heartbeat quickened.

"No..."

he whispered.

Then...

Another sound reached his ears.

A voice.

Yuuta froze.

It wasn’t the voice of the elves.

It wasn’t the old man.

It wasn’t anyone unfamiliar.

It was...

His own voice.

His heart pounded violently against his chest as he slowly turned toward the sound.

The moment he looked behind him, his entire body became motionless.

His breathing ceased.

His thoughts disappeared.

Because what stood before him...

Wasn’t an illusion.

Wasn’t a dream.

It was a fragment of his own forgotten past.

And Yuuta instinctively understood...

Everything was about to change.

Location: Anaya City – Liebus Agency Headquarters

Fiona didn’t waste another second.

She hurried toward Erza, the calm composure she had maintained until now completely gone. Panic was written across her face as she repeatedly glanced down the hallway, listening to the hurried footsteps of soldiers rushing toward their location.

"Over there!" she whispered urgently, pointing toward a large pair of training hall doors at the end of the corridor. "Quickly! You have to hide before they reach this floor!"

Erza stopped walking.

"...Hide?"

The word echoed inside her mind.

Her Voliet eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly.

Hide.

The very thought offended her pride.

She was the Queen of Atlantis, a dragon before whom nations bowed their heads. Countless beings couldn’t even endure her gaze, yet now she was being told to hide from ordinary humans who would collapse the moment she released even a fraction of her presence.

For a brief moment, dragon mana quietly stirred around her.

Why should she hide?

She could simply destroy the headquarters.

No...

If necessary, she could erase the entire city.

Once every obstacle disappeared, she could walk straight to Sara without anyone standing in her way.

Then...

Yuuta’s face appeared inside her mind.

His foolish smile.

The ridiculous way he always called her "My Queen."

Then another memory surfaced.

Yuuta crying out in pain as the unstable aura inside his body slowly consumed him.

The weakening seal.

The life she was desperately trying to protect.

Erza quietly closed her eyes.

The dragon mana surrounding her gradually settled.

She hadn’t come here for herself.

Everything she had endured...

Every compromise she had accepted...

Was for Yuuta.

Until she found the answers she needed, she couldn’t allow herself to act recklessly.

Letting out a quiet sigh, she opened her eyes once more.

"...Guide me."

Her voice was calm.

"We’ll do it your way."

Relief immediately washed over Fiona’s face.

Without another word, she quickly led Erza toward the Captain Training Ground Hall. The sounds of emergency alarms continued echoing throughout the headquarters while countless soldiers rushed through neighboring corridors, but fortunately this section of the building remained empty. Within moments, the two women arrived before a pair of enormous wooden-and-steel doors engraved with the crest of the Liebus Agency.

Unlike the rest of the headquarters, the entrance carried a simple design. There were no heavy blast doors or military barricades, only a quiet dignity befitting a place reserved exclusively for the agency’s captains. Fiona stepped forward and placed her hand against the identification panel beside the entrance.

A soft blue light swept across her palm before an artificial voice echoed through the hallway.

"Identity verification required."

Fiona answered immediately.

"This is Captain Fiona of the Phoenix Red Wing Division."

The system remained silent for only a moment before another light scanned her face.

"Voice pattern confirmed."

"Captain Fiona Kisaragi identified."

"Captain-level authority accepted."

A pleasant mechanical chime followed.

"Welcome back, Captain. We hope your training session is productive."

With a gentle mechanical hum, the massive doors of the Captain Training Ground Hall slowly swung open, revealing the enormous arena that had remained unused for decades.

Location: Liebus AgencyPlace: Captain Training Ground Hall

Erza and Fiona quickly stepped inside the Captain Training Ground Hall. The enormous chamber stretched far into the darkness, its polished stone floor bearing countless scars left behind by battles fought many years ago. Fiona had barely taken a few steps before hurried voices suddenly echoed from outside the hallway, accompanied by the heavy sound of armored boots rapidly approaching their location.

"Search every room!"

"The Humanity-Level Threat was last reported on this floor!"

"Don’t leave a single room unchecked!"

The orders echoed throughout the corridor.

Fiona immediately stopped.

Her expression stiffened as she realized the search teams had arrived far sooner than she expected. If she remained inside the hall any longer, the soldiers would become suspicious the moment they discovered a captain hiding behind closed doors.

She quickly turned back toward Erza.

"Wait here," Fiona said in a low voice, trying to remain calm despite the urgency in her eyes. "I’ll deal with them first. Once the situation settles down a little, I’ll come back for you."

Without waiting for a reply, Fiona stepped back into the hallway.

The massive doors slowly closed behind her.

A moment later, the mechanical locks clicked into place, leaving Erza alone inside the enormous training hall.

Silence returned.

Erza let out a long, irritated sigh.

"...What a waste of time."

She slowly crossed her arms, clearly dissatisfied with the situation. Ever since arriving in Anaya City, nothing had gone according to plan. Instead of meeting Sara directly, she had spent her time hiding from soldiers, avoiding officers, and sneaking through hallways like some common criminal.

The thought alone irritated her.

"I should never have agreed to this."

Her voice echoed softly throughout the empty hall.

"It would have been far simpler to walk straight to Sara myself."

A dangerous glint appeared within her crimson eyes.

"If anyone stood in my way..."

"...I would simply remove them."

For a brief moment, she seriously considered walking back outside, cutting down every demon involved, eliminating anyone foolish enough to interfere, and then erasing Yuuta’s memories afterward to ensure he never learned what she had done.

The plan was simple.

Efficient.

It suited her far more than hiding.

Then she remembered the risks.

Yuuta’s unstable seal.

His fragile condition.

Everything Isvarn had warned her about.

Erza quietly closed her eyes before releasing another defeated sigh.

"...Not yet."

She reluctantly abandoned the thought.

Slowly, she began observing the training hall around her.

The chamber was enormous, easily large enough for dragons to fight without restraint. Ancient pillars rose toward the ceiling, while practice grounds, weapon racks, and shattered stone platforms filled the vast interior. Although lights had been installed throughout the hall, they illuminated only the central arena. The outer corners remained intentionally dark, creating deep shadows where even Erza’s sharp vision struggled to see clearly.

Her gaze slowly swept across the room.

Something felt...

Wrong.

The hall appeared empty.

Yet the strange sensation refused to disappear.

It was the feeling every experienced predator understood instinctively.

Someone...

Was watching her.

Erza’s eyes immediately sharpened.

Without another word, she slowly turned toward one of the darkest corners of the hall.

Her dragon instincts had already pinpointed the exact location.

She looked directly into the shadows.

"Come out."

Her cold voice echoed throughout the chamber.

"I know you’re there."

Silence answered her.

Then Erza’s expression grew even colder.

"Stop hiding like a predator stalking its prey."

A quiet chuckle suddenly echoed from the darkness.

"Oh my..."

A woman’s voice, deep and amused, broke the silence.

"So my prey noticed I was here."

The sound of cracking knuckles followed.

One.

After another.

A heavy silence settled over the training hall.

Then...

From one of the darkest corners of the room, a slow pair of footsteps echoed across the stone floor.

Tap...

Tap...

Tap...

A figure gradually emerged from the shadows.

She was tall, far taller than any ordinary woman and every inch of her body was packed with lean muscle. Her broad shoulders and confident posture gave the impression that she had fought countless battles. She rolled her neck before casually cracking her knuckles, the sound echoing through the empty hall.

A grin slowly spread across her lips.

It wasn’t friendly.

It was the smile of a hunter who had finally found worthy prey.

Her yellow eyes locked onto Erza without blinking.

"It’s been a long time since anyone entered this hall uninvited," the woman said with a grin. "Good thing I decided to spend the day training here." she said with a chuckle, her voice carrying a strange mixture of amusement and excitement.

"Looks like I found an intruder."

She paused for a brief moment before her grin widened even further.

"No..."

"A humanity-level threat."

Erza remained silent, her gaze fixed on the mysterious woman.

As the stranger stepped closer, the light from the training hall finally revealed her appearance.

Erza’s pupils contracted.

The woman wasn’t human.

At first glance, she looked like a beast that had learned to walk on two legs. Thick fur covered parts of her powerful body, while razor-sharp claws extended from her fingers. Two feline ears rested atop her head, twitching ever so slightly as though listening to every heartbeat within the room.

Her golden eyes were unlike any Erza had ever seen.

They were narrow.

Predatory.

Filled with the instinctive hunger of a creature born to hunt.

Even the way she moved was unnervingly graceful, every step silent and controlled like a predator stalking its prey.

A beast...?

The thought lasted only a heartbeat before Erza dismissed it.

No...

Her expression grew serious.

A demi-human...?

For the first time since arriving at the Lebius Agency, genuine surprise appeared on her face.

How is that possible...?

To be continued.
