I'm Turning Into Gacha Characters?!
Chapter 590 - 590: Turned Into Gacha?! - 590"You've returned."
Not long after the trio walked into the Loki Familia's campsite, they saw Finn walking toward them.
"I was just about to head out and look for you."
The Pallum man wore his usual composed smile. His eyes swept across the three of them before landing on Ais, who looked quite disheveled and covered in dirt.
"Is something wrong, Captain Finn?" Lefiya asked, sounding puzzled.
"Nothing major. It's just that you had been out for quite a long time without returning, so I was a bit worried. After all, if Ais gets a burst of inspiration, she's prone to doing some rather uncontrollable things." Finn chuckled.
It wasn't uncommon for Ais to head off to fight monsters elsewhere while they were supposed to be setting up camp. While there wasn't any real danger on these floors, checking on the status of his members was one of his responsibilities.
"Ais didn't cause you any trouble, did she?"
He looked toward Sushang.
"Not at all. Although she's a bit single-minded, her aptitude is truly exceptional." Sushang felt a touch of awe in her heart. Perhaps this is what it means to be a protagonist; her talent really is top-tier.
"While it's not quite at the level where she understands things the moment they're pointed out, she instinctively adjusts and optimizes her own movements. I barely need to teach her anything; I just need to let her grasp the lessons through the heat of battle."
"I see. That puts our minds at ease." Finn said this aloud, but in his heart, he began to form some conjectures.
Combat... the monsters on these nearby floors couldn't possibly make Ais look this wretched.
If a fight did occur, it was more likely during a sparring session. And the only person capable of teaching her in real-time through sparring seems to be this Miss Li Sushang.
How terrifying. Even though she's only Level 1, she's already capable of suppressing Ais to this degree?
Perhaps even a Level 6 wouldn't necessarily be able to gain an advantage against her.
Thinking this, Finn's smile became even more cordial. "We brought some special ingredients to satisfy our cravings when we came out. Miss Sushang, if you don't have anything else to do, would you like to join us?"
"Sure! I was actually wondering if I should head back to the surface to get something good to eat! It's a pity I didn't bring anything down with me this time, otherwise I would have definitely let you all taste the cooking from my hometown!"
Upon hearing this, Sushang was wide awake. In her current life, there were only a few things that brought her genuine joy, and the indulgence of her appetite was undoubtedly a vital part of that.
Although she knew this was an invitation meant to win her favor, so what?
As it happened, Sushang was quite happy to be on good terms with the Loki Familia. Being an adventurer isn't just about fighting and killing; it's also about interpersonal connections and social graces.
The young girl's subtle yet straightforward response was undoubtedly another source of reassurance for Finn.
"Haha, if you have any requirements regarding the ingredients, Miss Sushang, we certainly won't let you down."
"It's not really the ingredients, more so the seasonings." Although Orario was a place with a Western fantasy backdrop, its flavors and ingredients leaned heavily toward those of the East. It wasn't that the food was bad, per se; it just didn't quite suit her palate.
The four of them soon arrived at the temporary campsite set up for the upper-tier adventurers. Calling it a camp was a bit of a stretch—it was really just a circle cordoned off with cloth two people high, held up by a few wooden stakes.
"Yo, you're back." Gareth noticed the four of them and waved a greeting, still holding a skewer of meat.
The campsite was nearly empty. A brazier sat in the very center, while the others sat on logs acting as makeshift chairs, huddled around the fire.
"I told you, we should have waited until they returned before starting." Riveria cast a sidelong glance at Gareth.
The two of them were old rivals. Their differing races led to many conflicts in personality and outlook. Although they had mellowed out over time and given their status as seniors within the Familia, there were certain things ingrained in them that would never change.
Gareth knew he was in the wrong and just offered an awkward laugh without arguing back.
He had assumed Ais had gone off to fight again; he hadn't expected Finn to return just two minutes after leaving.
"It seems I need to put the books on etiquette back on your desk," Finn said with a helpless sigh as he looked at the sheepish Gareth. Only after a light rebuke did he turn back to Sushang. "I apologize. It's embarrassing to let you see the immature side of us old-timers."
"It's fine. When you're hungry, you have to eat, right?"
Sushang didn't mind at all. "If you're out and about and you're too fussy about everything, life gets way too tiring!"
Well, it seemed this girl wasn't the type to stand on ceremony.
Thinking back to her insistence on keeping the Goliath for her Familia friends, this didn't come as a surprise.
Once the four of them sat down, the group finally began to chat. Seeing the state Ais was in, Riveria frowned. Ever the protective one, she was curious about the girl's current condition.
"Did you just go off to fight?"
"Sparring with Sushang." Ais didn't pay much attention to the dust on her clothes. She felt a bit uncomfortable, but at the moment, her hunger felt far worse than the discomfort of the dirt.
After hours of intense physical activity, her stomach was already beginning to wail.
"Sparring, you say?" Riveria glanced at Sushang. Finding no signs of disarray on the girl, she reached the same conclusion as Finn.
"This child must have been a handful for you," she said to Sushang.
Sushang hadn't expected Ais to have so many "parents," but she repeated the same sentiments she had shared with Finn.
She then looked over at Ais.
Somehow, she felt she had found out who the "pet" of this Familia was. Admired by juniors, pampered by seniors, and doted on by elders—Ais was practically the winner of life in the Loki Familia, wasn't she?
However, Ais's personality was quite interesting. Even in the short time they had spent together, and despite how little Ais had actually spoken, Sushang's impression of her was quite good.
At the very least, she wouldn't have been this diligent in teaching an average person—she had essentially thrown a martial arts manual right in the girl's face.
While Sushang was still marveling at how cute the heroine was, Furina on the other side was starting to feel her scalp prickle.
An Infant Dragon—three meters tall, nearly four meters including its neck—was a massive monster with brown hide. It possessed both astonishing destructive power and high resistance.
"How could we run into this kind of situation so coincidentally!?"
Rewind to earlier.
After saying goodbye to Sushang, Furina met up with Liliruca, and the two headed toward the 12th floor. Along the way, Furina explained her goal of finding teammates to challenge the middle floors.
Liliruca couldn't provide much help in terms of raw combat power, but she was excellent at giving advice on matters like this.
She had spent most of her time on the upper floors and rarely went to the middle ones, but she truly knew her stuff when it came to recommending capable adventurers and Familias for Furina.
The two were chatting away as they reached the 12th floor to farm monsters, never expecting to run into a Monster Party shortly thereafter.
Even more unexpectedly, a few adventurers who were fleeing saw the pair and actually bolted straight toward them, attempting to shift the disaster onto them.
To make matters worse, the Infant Dragon had respawned at that very moment.
She had only just parted ways with Sushang, and yet they had already run into such a series of accidents!!
It would be a lie to say she wasn't panicking. But beyond the panic, Furina didn't intend to just run away.
She glanced at Liliruca, who was using a crossbow to assist under the protection of three seafood-themed summons. After confirming she would be safe for a short while, Furina's gaze hardened.
Perhaps... there was no need to go to the middle floors; she might be able to achieve a great feat right here today...
