Chapter 255: Chapter 255: Annihilation

Without a second thought, Bai Mo took out a Pill and stuffed it into the old man’s mouth.

The old man, dazed and confused, swallowed the Pill.

The healing effect of the Gathering Pill was as good as ever, and the old man’s low fever subsided.

He wrapped a cloth around the wound on the old man’s wrist, and the bleeding stopped immediately.

"You should have listened to Wei An and bought some better Pills for yourself. Don’t just look at Feeding Pills—people can’t eat those."

"If you’d been prepared, you wouldn’t have ended up in this state today."

The old man mumbled something nonsensical in response.

Lanshan, however, looked at the dagger to the side.

"He cut his own wrist to feed the dogs with his blood essence. I’m afraid he had some other motive."

"Give me a few bottles of Five Obstacles Pills, and I’ll go get in on the action."

Bai Mo glanced at the old man. Seeing him groaning but otherwise unresponsive, he smiled and said,

"There’s no need for Brother Lanshan to take such a risk. Demonic Cultivators are treacherous. The slightest mistake could cost you your life."

"Since those dogs aren’t ordinary, they must have some spiritual awareness."

Bai Mo took out several bottles of Feeding Pills and handed them to Lanshan along with the Five Obstacles Pills.

"They’ve eaten so many of my Feeding Pills, and the Demonic Cultivators came prepared. There’s no escape, so the dogs will know what to do."

Hearing this, Lanshan couldn’t help but smile. He took the Pills and went out the door.

The old man, however, sighed and passed out completely.

A series of Pill explosions erupted outside the door, immediately followed by several bursts of laughter.

The laughter sounded very familiar. Bai Mo listened closely, feeling as if he had heard it at the Mountain View Tower.

Before he could think on it further, a flash of pure white light streaked across the scene, and the world outside suddenly went silent.

At the doorway of the storage room, blood fell like a waterfall, dense as a curtain, completely covering the small room.

Bai Mo was startled and let out a sigh. ’To think even I would get caught in the crossfire.’

This was the blood flowing from that Daoist Cha. Bai Mo’s Divine Thought, which he had spread outside, could sense that the man’s real body was on the roof.

Not daring to delay, several Five Obstacles Pills of different colors appeared in Bai Mo’s hand.

He had refined these using various ores he had come across by chance, each with a different primary effect.

’These are the last of my collection.’

With a flick of his wrist, the Five Obstacles Pills flew in a neat line toward the doorway.

The blood surged, trying to envelop the Pills.

But with a flicker of Bai Mo’s will, a Pill Furnace materialized out of thin air, covering all the Five Obstacles Pills just in time.

The next moment.

BOOM!!

A huge explosion shook the storage room, sending dust flying everywhere.

Just as Bai Mo had expected, the mixture of Five Obstacles Pills with different medicinal properties produced a terrifyingly potent smoke.

The blood obscuring the doorway first swelled into a giant bubble, then rapidly dissolved.

Smoke so thick it seemed solid spewed out.

Even though Bai Mo was in a perilous situation and desperate to escape, he couldn’t help but pause for a moment.

Only when he saw the smoke spreading did he finally grab the old man, cover his own mouth and nose, and charge outside.

The instant he hit the smoke, Bai Mo felt as if he had run into cotton, something with substance.

Even the unconscious old man let out an involuntary grunt.

WHOOSH!

Bai Mo charged out head-down. When he opened his eyes again, he saw Demonic Cultivators lying all over the ground.

Lanshan stood not far away, surrounded by seven or eight strange dogs, a worried look on his face.

Before Bai Mo could react, the weight in his arms lightened.

He turned to see Brother An standing beside him, the old man now in his arms.

The disciple in charge of eradicating the Demonic Cultivators had dark circles under his eyes, but a hint of a smile touched his face.

"See? I told you Brother Bai would be fine. You can leave this man to us."

Bai Mo patted down his clothes, brushing away the clinging smoke.

"Of course."

Looking back, he saw Daoist Cha standing steadily on the roof, watching them without making a move.

Brother An followed Bai Mo’s gaze, and his smile vanished.

"Although we didn’t achieve a complete victory, eliminating so many Demon Dao followers isn’t a bad outcome."

"Pack it up. We’re heading back."

As some disciples looked on in confusion, another explained,

"That’s a decoy body. The real person has already shed his cicada skin and fled far away."

The Daoist Cha on the roof snorted coldly, and his figure abruptly shattered, melting into a pool of blood that corroded its way down into the storage room.

Before long, the small room and everything inside it had vanished into the blood.

The large, bulging sac of blood gradually sank and dispersed.

Brother An looked at Bai Mo and explained,

"This is an escape Secret Technique. Only a wisp of Divine Thought is left in the decoy body to maintain the physical shell."

"A Secret Technique like this harms both the body and the spirit. Even though Daoist Cha escaped, he’s definitely not going to be feeling well."

"By the way, I’ve heard your Divine Thought is quite impressive, Junior Brother. You might consider finding a similar Secret Technique to practice in the future. It’s great for self-preservation."

After speaking, he had no more time for Bai Mo.

He had to clean up the aftermath here before dawn.

The blood on the ground was so thick it was almost impossible to walk on—a huge mess.

The bodies of several dozen Demonic Cultivators were piled together. This was their target location, so they probably didn’t hold anything back.

Bai Mo saw that Lanshan looked a little sad, so he walked over and asked,

"What’s wrong?"

Lanshan shook his head and pointed to one of the corpses, its face half-covered in blood.

"An acquaintance. He was a good kid, ambitious and driven."

The methods of the Demon Dao are indeed tempting, far beyond what the Cultivation Techniques of a Loose Cultivator can offer.

But once you walk down such a path, you can’t blame anyone else for the end you meet.

Sect Cultivators carrying various tools began to arrive one after another, and even disciples from the city’s Beastial Sect showed up.

They had to wash away all the blood here before daybreak.

Clean water was poured out, and the congealed blood was broken up by brooms, revealing hair-thin worms wriggling underneath.

Even a tough man like Lanshan felt a chill at the sight and quickly followed Bai Mo out of the area.

After something like this, even if it’s cleaned, who knows if this place will be habitable again.

Since this involved the Demon Dao, Bai Mo couldn’t take any of the items. Everything had to be taken back by the Mountain View Tower Cultivators for identification and submission.

Brother An smiled. "I know you were hoping to find a few good items, Junior Brother. Even if you can’t use them, they’re good for trading with the sect."

"But since this involves the Demon Dao, don’t even think about it. Just wait for the rewards the sect will issue. The rewards for wiping out Demonic Cultivators are never small."

Bai Mo nodded. His nerves had been stretched taut all night, and he felt exhausted.

Seeing that things were under control, he said his goodbyes and left with Lanshan.

The Cultivators from the Demon Hunting Teams who had participated in the night’s events were still caught in a state of excitement and terror after the unique battle.

At a word from Lanshan, these people also began to retreat like a receding tide.

...

Bai Mo slept all the way until noon the next day.

Having frequently used his Divine Thought, he was quite exhausted. After a long sleep, he found he had no appetite for anything.

He was idly picking at his food, one chopstickful at a time, when a Cultivator from Mountain View Tower unexpectedly showed up at his door, bringing many of the strange dogs with him.

"What brings you here, Senior Brother?"

Bai Mo was surprised.

The disciple smiled and said,

"We’ve more or less finished the initial investigation. It turns out the old man was involved in the inheritance of the Demon Dao’s Beastial Sect, which is why he was being hunted."

"So quickly? It seems there are interrogation experts among the senior brothers."

Bai Mo said in admiration.

"Not quite. There are still some details to confirm. We have a lot more to do."

The visiting disciple pushed the dog cages forward.

"I heard these dogs are extraordinary and that you might have a use for them, Junior Brother. Brother An had me bring some over."

"Go on, pick a few."
