Immortal Cultivation: Starting from a Pharmacy Apprentice
Chapter 284: Arriving One After AnotherChapter 284: Chapter 284: Arriving One After Another
An Caiwei didn’t dare to delay.
That very day, she gathered the Shen Demon’s Heart’s Blood and the Rhino Horn Powder in the market.
The only thing left was the Jiao Fish Flesh. She was quite dissatisfied, as most of what was available in the market was no longer fresh, and some was even air-dried.
Coincidentally, she heard that not far from the sect gates, a Jiao Fish had grown powerful. Overestimating its own abilities, it was stirring up winds and waves, capsizing passing boats along the way.
So she found someone to go and pay it a visit, teaching the Jiao Fish the meaning of the Upper Sect’s authority.
When the bloody, reeking Jiao Fish Flesh was delivered to Bai Mo, he was rather surprised.
"You killed the Jiao Fish?"
"Those things are rare. You could have gotten a better price selling it alive to Beast Taming Peak."
An Caiwei was even more astonished.
"Why are you saying that too?"
She actually hadn’t had them kill it.
"The sect brothers I found said the same thing. They only cut a piece of flesh for me. Considering the injuries it already had, the Jiao Fish shouldn’t die."
"I just don’t know who they sold it to."
That was their business, so neither of them cared.
Delayed half a day by the Jiao Fish Flesh, Bai Mo immediately closed the doors to the Stone Lodge, preparing to perform the Alchemy overnight.
"I’ll stand guard for you."
An Caiwei brought over a stool and sat by the entrance of the Stone Lodge, ready to greet any potential visitors.
’Maybe I should find someone idle to help watch the place,’ she thought.
Out of sheer boredom, she took out a booklet. Inside was information about the market.
It detailed things like which sect members had extra medicinal herbs and which mountain peak had shops with high-quality herbs.
It also noted rare herbs, their prices, and where they could be purchased, with each entry meticulously annotated.
There were numerous signs of revision, suggesting it was constantly updated.
But as she read on, she began to feel an unbearable, scorching heat.
The fiery energy felt like it could roast a person dry and set them ablaze.
An Caiwei leaped to her feet, stumbling back several steps as she saw the distorted air currents around the Stone Lodge.
"Such intense firepower!?"
’Can he control it properly?’
Evidently, Bai Mo had drawn upon the Earth Fire and had already started the furnace.
The Earth Fire burned for a full day before a strange fragrance began to waft out from the Stone Lodge.
After all, it was previously a place for forging Magical Artifacts, so it wasn’t particularly well-designed for containing smells.
A Demon Beast, attracted by this unique aroma, poked its head out to peer from a distance.
An Caiwei’s eyes widened, and she stamped her foot.
"Well, now! I thought you’d be well-behaved, but you actually dare to show up!"
She was just about to take out her protective Magical Artifact.
But the massive Demon Beast suddenly turned around and galloped away on its four hooves.
"Huh? What was that thing that ran off?"
"It looked like a powerful Demon Beast. It had four hooves and resembled an ox, but it’s a carnivore. Pretty smart."
Of course it was smart. If it hadn’t run away in time, it would have been slaughtered and eaten by the group of people who had just arrived.
An Caiwei saw three people approaching from a distance.
"Ha! Smell that? It really gets the blood pumping! Junior Brother Bai’s skills are as sharp as ever!"
"Indeed, indeed!"
"We got here early, so we probably won’t have to wait in line for long. We should be able to get our Pills in half a month."
This blatant, flattering praise left An Caiwei completely baffled, wondering who these people were.
It wasn’t until the three men reached her that An Caiwei realized they were disciples from Divine Dao Mountain.
"Greetings, Senior Brothers."
An Caiwei could smell the scent of incense on the three of them without even needing to use a special technique.
But such strangely-built, brawny Cultivators were probably uncommon on Divine Dao Mountain. She wondered what they did.
One of them was tall, with arms so long they nearly reached his knees. Another had short limbs and a very large belly.
The third was even more exaggerated, his muscles looking like they were about to burst, making his two companions look slender by comparison.
"Ah! Is Junior Sister here for Alchemy too?"
"You’ve cut in front of us!"
An Caiwei shook her head.
"No, I’m in business with Junior Brother Bai Mo. We set up shop here together."
The three senior brothers let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness. We’re in a hurry to test some Pills, so we can’t afford any delays."
An Caiwei thought for a moment, then said:
"Two senior brothers have already arrived ahead of you. It might take Junior Brother Bai five days to finish concocting their Pills."
"What kind of Pill would you three like to have made? Why don’t I register your request first?"
The senior brother whose muscles looked ready to explode quickly waved his hand, the gust of wind from his palm stirring An Caiwei’s hair.
"No rush. Let’s show it to Junior Brother Bai first. We’re not sure ourselves."
"By the way, what kind of Pill is Junior Brother refining right now..."
Inside the Stone Lodge.
The greenish Pill Liquid in the three Pill Furnaces was reaching its final stage.
Bai Mo took the Shen Demon’s Heart’s Blood and dripped it into each Pill Furnace in turn.
The dark red blood fell into the mixture, instantly dyeing the Pill Liquid crimson, like ink blooming in water.
FWOOSH!
The Earth Fire at the bottom of the furnace surged, unleashing immense heat. The Pill Liquid inside swirled and condensed into a dark red mass.
The foul odor was locked within the Pill before it had a chance to escape.
With such an "authentic" flavor preserved, the Pill was unlikely to taste very good.
Bai Mo let out a soft sigh. Senior Brother Lv Mang’s Pill was finally complete.
Extinguishing the Earth Fire and placing the Bear Arm Pill into a vial, Bai Mo pushed open the great doors of the Stone Lodge.
WHOOSH!
A blast of heat burst forth, making the eyes of the few people conversing nearby feel dry.
"Junior Brother Bai is out!"
"Judging by that strange fragrance, another Pill must be finished!"
Bai Mo had never met them before, but he could smell the scent of incense on them, so he gave a slight bow with his hands clasped.
"By your good fortune, Senior Brothers, the Pill is indeed complete."
"What brings the three of you here?"
He had always been on good terms with Divine Dao Mountain.
But seeing An Caiwei’s serious expression, he didn’t know what had happened.
The three strangely-shaped senior brothers stepped forward.
"Haha, we were asking what Pill you were concocting, but this junior sister refused to say a word. We were just teasing her!"
An Caiwei’s face darkened at his words.
She had been worried they were trying to pry into a fellow disciple’s affairs, which made her, a novice at such matters, feel as if she were facing a great enemy.
But seeing how frank they were, it seemed they really were just being playful.
Bai Mo didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Just then, the incredibly muscular senior brother’s expression turned serious.
"Junior Brother, you’re quite famous among us brothers. You’ve helped several of our disciples successfully concoct Pills from ancient Pill Formulas before."
"Take a look at this Pill Formula. Is it truly viable?"
He carefully spread the Pill Formula across his palm. It was brittle from age and weathering, covered in marks from snakes, insects, and rodents.
Bai Mo looked at it and hesitated, not daring to touch it.
He just leaned in closer to read its contents.
"Is this an ancient Pill Formula?"
"No, it was probably passed down from our grandmaster’s generation."
Bai Mo studied it, thought for a long time, and then, under the three men’s expectant gazes, slowly nodded.
"This Pill Formula is quite interesting."
"It’s full of ingenious ideas, but I can’t be certain of its effects."
Joy visibly appeared on the three men’s faces, but they forced themselves to remain calm and said:
"But the Pill Formula is incomplete..."
Bai Mo smiled.
"Senior Brothers, you’re in luck. I happen to have a Pill Formula with similar pharmacological principles. I can take a portion of it, make some modifications to fill in the gaps, and it might just work."
