Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Reporting

The Flying Ship sailed onward, and before long, everyone heard the roar of rushing water.

Looking ahead, they saw a great mass of white vapor stretched out before them like a city wall.

As they drew closer, Bai Mo reached out to touch it, feeling an icy chill.

"Clouds?"

Brother Gao nodded.

"The barrier between the Inner and Outer Sects is this very cloud wall."

The Flying Ship plunged into the clouds, and their vision was filled with nothing but a vast expanse of white.

Bai Mo felt it more keenly. Even his Divine Thought could only extend about thirty feet here.

Clearly, the cloud wall held some unknown mysteries.

As if sensing something, Brother Gao turned back to look at Bai Mo, surprised by his fluid control of Divine Thought.

"Inside this cloud wall, it’s best not to extend your Divine Thought. There’s something strange in the clouds that can confuse one’s senses."

"A disciple once tried to navigate with his Divine Thought and was trapped for over half a month. He nearly starved to death."

The Flying Ship had a pilot, and Bai Mo was only a passenger, so he was in no danger.

Still, Bai Mo did as advised and retracted his Divine Thought.

A full quarter of an hour passed before they emerged from the cloud wall with a soft POP, feeling the outside wind once more.

Even at the Flying Ship’s slow pace, it was clear how thick the cloud wall was.

"Wow!"

An Caiwei, beside him, cried out in amazement.

Bai Mo gazed out and beheld the completely different world of the Inner Sect.

The so-called Inner Sect was, in fact, a floating landmass.

At the base of the cloud wall, countless streams of vapor gathered, coalescing into pillars of water. They cascaded downward with the roar of waterfalls, pouring into a great sinkhole encircled by the clouds.

Above the sinkhole floated the Inner Sect itself.

A vast landmass floated there, dotted with numerous peaks and varied terrain. Even smaller mountains and giant boulders drifted in the sky high above it.

Bai Mo looked down into the bottomless sinkhole. As far as his eyes could see, platforms jutted out from its walls, upon which tenacious trees and plants stood tall.

"A sight like this can’t be far off from the legendary Guixu!"

An Caiwei exclaimed in admiration.

But Bai Mo’s pupils suddenly contracted. He quickly scanned his surroundings, his expression a mixture of shock and uncertainty.

Brother Gao chuckled lightly.

"Junior Brother, you’re quite sharp. It shows you’re a meticulous person."

"That’s right. This cloud wall was created by a mighty expert from our founding generation. It has the power to bend space, expanding the world within and concealing the sect."

"This is the foundation our sect has built over generations. You’ll get used to it once you’ve been around for a while."

With that, he steered the Flying Ship toward the landmass.

As far as the eye could see, numerous Flying Ships zipped back and forth, along with many flying Spirit Beasts.

Brother Gao expertly weaved through the traffic, heading toward a specific location.

"There!"

He pointed into the distance, where a patch of reddish-yellow land stood out against the surrounding greenery.

"That’s Forging Void Valley."

The Flying Ship flew for an hour before finally reaching the place and landing.

"Anyone around?"

Brother Gao’s shout immediately attracted two disciples who were passing by.

"Brought you some new recruits!"

The two disciples paused, then their faces lit up with obvious excitement.

They hurried over, their faces coarse and their skin a dark, ruddy color.

Seeing the many burly men on the Flying Ship, the pair broke into wide grins.

Their gazes automatically skipped over Bai Mo and An Caiwei, scanning the others.

"Which ones are they?"

The disciple who had chosen Forging Void Valley quickly jumped down.

"Me!"

Seeing the delivery was made, Brother Gao started up the Flying Ship again.

"Hey!"

The two Forging Void Valley disciples stared blankly for a moment, then scrambled to grab the edge of the ship.

"Wait, just this one?"

Brother Gao replied casually, "That’s right. The rest of the new disciples are spoken for. These big, strapping fellows are all headed to the Battle Hall."

"Huh?"

The two from Forging Void Valley were dumbfounded.

"What about the rest? Weren’t there supposed to be a lot of new disciples this year?"

Brother Gao paused and couldn’t help but look back at them.

"I’m taking my time, so I’m probably slower than the others. What, has no one else arrived yet?"

When they shook their heads, Brother Gao thought for a moment and asked:

"Did your manager give the escorting disciples a little something for their trouble?"

"Huh?"

The faces of the two from Forging Void Valley instantly froze.

Brother Gao immediately understood.

"You cheapskates. It would’ve just cost you a sword or a spear."

"You couldn’t even spare that for the escorts? We’re all doing this for free, you know. I can only imagine how low Forging Void Valley must be on their priority list!"

He said no more, started the Flying Ship, and slowly ascended.

The expressions of the two Forging Void Valley disciples shifted several times before they finally made up their minds. They grabbed their lone new recruit and hurried off into the valley.

"Bastards. We’re all barely scraping by, and they still want a handout?"

"Come on, let’s round up some people and go poach some recruits!"

The Flying Ship soared through the air.

Everyone on board had overheard the Forging Void Valley disciples, and their expressions were varied.

Brother Gao, however, was unconcerned.

"This sort of thing happens every time new disciples arrive. Poaching is especially common. It all comes down to who can get to them first."

"Don’t worry about it."

As he spoke, he lowered the Flying Ship’s altitude, his gaze scanning the ground as if searching for something.

After only a moment, he found what he was looking for.

The Flying Ship accelerated, heading straight for a group of people in the distance.

"The Battle Hall is too far, and I don’t feel like making the trip. You few can just go with those Battle Hall disciples up ahead."

"Remember to be polite; they’ll be more likely to look out for you then."

With that, he called out loudly.

"Disciples of the Battle Hall, please wait a moment!"

His voice, empowered with Spiritual Qi, crossed the distance of several miles and actually made the group halt.

THUD!

The Flying Ship landed. Brother Gao leaped off and cupped his hands in salute to a group of five or six disciples, who were still stained with blood.

"Friends, I have some new recruits here for the Battle Hall. Would you mind taking them with you?"

"Oh?" The Cultivator leading the group had only a left eye. He was large and imposing, and his expression was cold.

His single eye flickered toward the people on the Flying Ship.

Bai Mo and the others felt their breath catch. A murderous aura seemed to wash over them, carrying the stench of blood.

"From Broken Blade Peak? Come on, then."

The other new recruits tensed instinctively. Bai Mo, realizing what was happening, quickly cupped his hands toward the other Broken Blade Peak disciples.

"Brothers, farewell!"

"Farewell!"

"Farewell!"

The Broken Blade Peak disciples, accustomed to combat, were more at ease facing the Inner Sect’s Battle Hall members. They casually hopped off the Flying Ship.

And so, they parted ways.

Only after the Flying Ship was a good distance away did An Caiwei pat her chest in relief.

"Phew. Are all Battle Hall disciples like that? They don’t seem very easy to get along with."

Brother Gao explained, "It’s not that they’re difficult. They’re just accustomed to matters of life and death, and they’ve just gotten back from a mission. That’s why they seem that way."

Over the next three hours, the remaining new recruits were dropped off one by one.

When they reached Silkworm Valley, An Caiwei was welcomed by several beautiful senior sisters of the Inner Sect.

The female Cultivators were all smiles, their words and actions gentle and graceful, each possessing a unique charm.

Even someone as roguish as Brother Gao watched them for a long time before finally leaving with the three remaining disciples.

"Silkworm Valley is a good place. A lot of the sect’s silk clothes are produced there. The quality is top-notch."

"The female Cultivators there are so skilled... and every one of them is so gentle. Tsk, tsk... it’s just incredible!"

The remaining three disciples weren’t sure if he was praising the clothes or the women. They just looked at each other and said nothing.

Amidst the silence, the Flying Ship flew for another hour or so before finally arriving at a tall, treacherous-looking mountain peak.

At first glance, the mountain looked gloomy and sinister, not at all like a welcoming place.

"We’ve arrived at Mi Mountain."
