[POV: Heavenly Domain Sect]
The Soaring Celestial Island had remained suspended above the heavens for countless millennia, serving as the sacred home of the Heavenly Domain Sect. At its heart lay the Well of Power, the foundation upon which the entire floating continent existed. An enormous dragon vein had been forcefully bound beneath the island through ancient immortal techniques, while countless lesser dragon veins branched from it like arteries, nourishing every mountain, palace, formation, and spirit field throughout the sect.
It was the beating heart of the Heavenly Domain Sect.
Should the Well of Power ever be destroyed, every formation upon the island would collapse alongside it.
For that reason, the sacred chamber had never been left unguarded.
Two ancient immortals stood watch over the Well of Power.
Each had long since mastered their immortal bodies and manifested an Immortal Art, making them Tier Two threats according to the Heavenly Domain Sect's own classification. Their names had faded from history, their purpose narrowing until all that remained was the eternal duty of protecting the dragon vein.
It was an almost thankless existence.
After all, nothing ever really happened. It was the best-case scenario, since it meant the Well of Power was safe. Of course, the boredom must've been very painful. Still, the two immortals remained true to their task.
Suddenly, space rippled.
A silver-haired man with long pointed ears appeared beside the dragon vein without warning. Neither immortal sensed his arrival. Their eyes widened in horror at the sight of this figure suddenly appearing in there midst.
Through sound transmission, the bearded elder frantically shouted to his companion.
"He bypassed the Heavenly Barrier Formation! Stop him before he reaches the dragon vein!"
The bald elder's face drained of color.
"Notify the Sect Leader immediately! Don't let him touch the Well of Power! STOP HIM!"
Their calm composure vanished completely.
For the first time in countless ages, the guardians abandoned every trace of dignity as they roared at the top of their lungs.
"INTRUDER!"
"STOP HIM!"
"DON'T LET HIM TOUCH THE DRAGON VEIN!"
Unfortunately, they were already too late.

[POV: Wo Li]
The forest exploded around me.
Roots thicker than ancient dragons burst through marble floors as towering trees erupted toward the heavens. Every heartbeat poured more quintessence into the central dragon vein, feeding Forest Creation until it spread like an unstoppable plague across the floating island.
The two immortals reacted simultaneously.
"Dao Domain: Frozen Heaven!"
The old man with the flowing white beard thrust his spear skyward. An endless winter descended. Snow materialized from nothingness. The air froze solid. Every droplet of moisture crystallized into razor-sharp shards that transformed the battlefield into a world of eternal frost.
At nearly the same instant, the bald elder cracked his whip.
"Dao Domain: Scorched Hell!"
Scarlet flames erupted around him. The earth melted beneath his feet. The surrounding air distorted beneath unbearable heat as seven blazing suns manifested overhead, bathing the chamber in infernal radiance.
Two opposing Dao Domains collided against one another without canceling out.
Instead, they merged into a terrifying equilibrium.
I didn't give either of them time to settle.
"Entanglement."
The spell blossomed directly inside their bodies. Roots erupted from within their chests with surgical precision, bypassing every external defense before coiling around their hearts. It was a technique I had improved upon, testing it first against that immortal woman.
Why attack from the outside when nature already existed within every living creature?
The bearded immortal staggered. Blood spilled from his mouth as roots tore through his organs.
The bald elder merely laughed. His body erupted into a furnace. The roots ignited instantly, reduced to ash before they could fully restrain him.
"So that's your trick!"
He lashed out. The whip wrapped tightly around my throat. Agonizing heat surged through my neck, threatening to sever my head in a single motion.
I calmly cast Lifepulse upon myself. Warm vitality continuously regenerated scorched flesh as quickly as it burned away.
At the same moment, the bearded elder endured roots bursting from his chest and lunged with astonishing determination. His spear pierced through layers of branches, aiming directly for my heart.
I raised a hand.
"Water Ball."
A sphere of water enveloped him. His own Frozen Heaven immediately transformed it into a perfect prison of solid ice, trapping him inside the frozen sphere. Before the bald elder could capitalize on the opening, I flicked my fingers.
"Explosion."
His own infernal flames answered my call. The fire surrounding him compressed violently before detonating outward. The resulting blast hurled him hundreds of meters backward, crashing through countless stone pillars. Manipulating naturally occurring elements had always been among my greatest strengths.
The few precious seconds I gained were enough.
I poured even more quintessence into Forest Creation. The roots reached deeper. The dragon vein screamed louder. A thunderous crack echoed beneath my feet as I began to destroy the island from within.
Suddenly, the frozen sphere exploded apart. The bearded elder burst free, blood staining his robes while murderous fury twisted his ancient features.
"YOU'VE COMPLETELY DONE IT NOW!"
He charged once more.
I felt my reserves of mana and qi plummeting.
Along with it was the decrease in quintessence I could manifest. Everything drained at an alarming rate. Without a more stable source of qi, sustaining so many large-scale spells simultaneously left my breathing heavy.
So I cast another spell.
"Spirit of the World Tree."
An immense silhouette of a tree appeared behind me. Its crown stretched beyond the clouds. Its roots reached into eternity itself. Boundless life flooded into my body. Every depleted reserve replenished itself.
I couldn't help smiling.
"Yes..."
I looked directly at the furious immortal.
"I've done it. Me."
At that exact moment, the entire floating island lurched violently and began to fall.
The bearded elder refused to retreat. His spear pierced through my shoulder before tearing across my chest. Blood scattered into the air. Lifepulse instantly restored the wounds before they could even deepen.
I embraced another form.
"Wild Shape: Primal Nature Spirit."
Nature enveloped my body.
Unlike before, I no longer adhered to predetermined forms. Since the 'spirit' was malleable, I could influence my Wild Shape in whatever direction I desired.
I shaped myself according to instinct.
My body became slender and graceful, matching my natural proportions. A flowing silver mane cascaded behind me like moonlight given form, while enormous butterfly wings unfurled from my back, scattering emerald motes with every gentle beat. Even my wooden staff transformed alongside me, seamlessly adapting to my new form.
The bearded elder unleashed everything he possessed.
"Immortal Art: Curse of Eternal Winter!"
He thrust his spear forward, and the world froze.
Even time seemed to slow beneath the advancing curse. Endless frost spread across reality itself as ghostly glaciers emerged from empty space, sealing heaven and earth inside an eternal age of ice. Every living thing touched by the curse would continue freezing forever, regardless of regeneration or vitality.
It stung.
Pain raced across my skin as frost crept over my body.
I grinned anyway.

Nature's Stride carried me beyond the spear's path. I appeared before him with one hand closed around his throat. He struggled with all of his might, but it was too late.
"Forest Creation."
Roots erupted from every pore of his immortal body. Branches burst from his spine. Leaves blossomed through his flesh. Within a heartbeat, the ancient immortal ceased to exist. Only a towering ancient tree remained where he had stood.
"YOU DARE!"
The bald elder returned, fury consuming every trace of reason.
His whip cracked through space.
"Immortal Art: Seven Sun Destruction!"
Seven blazing suns descended from the heavens.
Each contained enough destructive force to incinerate mountains into molten seas. As the whip lashed forward, the seven suns merged into a single torrent of golden solar fire that erased everything in its path, leaving only a shimmering void where existence itself had been scorched away.
It was beautiful, powerful, and predictable. The Voice of the World whispered every fluctuation before the attack fully formed. Druidic Insight revealed every weakness hidden within its structure. Because of these two abilities, no technique remained secret from me.
Nature's Stride carried me effortlessly between impossible trajectories as though I had foreseen the future itself.
When the flames dispersed, I was already standing behind him.
"Forest Creation."
His immortal body ruptured.
An ancient tree burst from within him, its roots greedily devouring every fragment of his existence until nothing remained but another towering guardian added to my growing forest.
[POV: Wo Li]
The lingering traces of the two Dao Domains barely remained.
Now both had become little more than fading memories, swallowed by the relentless expansion of Forest Creation. The great forest consumed lingering frost, drank in the scattered flames, and continued spreading across the Soaring Celestial Island with unstoppable momentum.
"Enough."
The calm voice carried throughout the battlefield.
Yu Gan appeared before me.
The old Sect Leader no longer resembled the composed immortal who had declared the execution of my people. Fury burned within his aged eyes as he drew a weathered sword whose blade shimmered with ancient runes.
"I will deal with you myself, Wo Li."
The falling island abruptly shuddered, its descent slowed, and then stopped.
Immense qi spread throughout the floating island as several immortals forcibly supported the collapsing island through their own cultivation. I quietly observed my surroundings, learning that there were only nine immortals.
The two guardians I just slaughtered had already become part of my forest.
Across the shattered island, countless Elder Treants continued their assault, tearing down palaces while uprooting defensive formations that had stood for thousands of years. Several immortals and numerous cultivators had begun coordinating their efforts to contain the advancing forest, desperately buying time before the island completely collapsed.
Yu Gan slowly raised his sword.
"I see you've come seeking death."
His voice remained calm despite the anger simmering beneath it.
"Have you any last words?"
I smiled beneath my current Wild Shape.
"It's good that you recognized me. Even with this appearance. At least, you'll know exactly who destroyed your precious sacred grounds."
My hand brushed across my storage ring. Dozens of enormous spirit stones spilled into the air. Without waiting for them to fall, I raised my staff.
"Summon: Elder Treant."
One spirit stone disappeared. Another Elder Treant emerged. Then another. And another. Again. Again. Again. Every spirit stone became another towering guardian that immediately marched toward the nearest buildings, following the only command I gave them.
"Destroy everything."
I almost laughed.
Back in the game, something this absurd would never have been allowed.
Every summon consumed precious mana, forcing druids to carefully manage their resources.
Reality in this xianxia world, however, played by entirely different rules.
Summoning had never been considered one of a druid's strongest specializations. Most players preferred becoming spell-slinging druids instead, overwhelming enemies with offensive magic while using shapeshifting only when necessary.
Summons were... useful.
Nothing more.
In player-versus-player combat, experienced opponents simply ignored them. They kited slower summons endlessly or erased them with cost-efficient abilities that traded favorably in both mana and cooldowns.
Against powerful raid bosses, summons served mainly as disposable scouts, temporary distractions, or expendable shields that absorbed devastating attacks no player wanted to receive personally. Even dedicated summoning builds struggled to compete with the raw damage output of mages or other offensive classes.
Very few players specialized in summoning.
Now? Well, there were new possibilities with them.
Yu Gan frowned. His eyes shifted from one Elder Treant to another before finally settling upon the steadily shrinking pile of spirit stones floating around me. His figure vanished. He appeared directly before me in less than an instant.
His sword didn't aim for my throat. Instead, it struck toward my storage ring, intent on robbing me of my army. Too bad that I was prepared for his offensive. Nature's Stride carried me behind him before the blade arrived.
"Entanglement."
Roots erupted within him.
However, Yu Gan calmly took only a single step through empty air, yet that single movement carried him beyond every root as though he had slipped between spaces themselves, appearing just beside me with his back turned on me. His sword reversed direction immediately and swept backward, miraculously finding me.
"Verdant Barrier."
Walls of living wood rose before me. The sword sliced through every layer without slowing, like butter.
So I retreated.
Nature's Stride folded space once more.
Yu Gan followed and arrived one heartbeat faster than I did. His sword reached me before I could fully stabilize.
I let it hit.
The blade tore through my body.
"Shedding."
My form exploded into countless withered leaves and broken branches. The sword passed harmlessly through them. My real body emerged beside him.
Without hesitation, I thrust my staff forward.
"Forest Creation."
I had originally created this spell to restore dying forests or create forests. Never, not even once, had I imagined using it as a weapon against immortals.
Yu Gan's instincts proved terrifying. He abandoned the attack immediately. His figure rose above me, narrowly escaping the expanding roots before they could transform him into another ancient tree.
I didn't pursue.
Instead, I raised my staff toward the island beneath us. More quintessence poured into the original Forest Creation. The dragon vein cried out once more. The floating island lurched violently.
Yu Gan's expression darkened further as he slowly lowered his sword.
"Dao Domain..."
His voice echoed across heaven and earth.
"Thread of Life and Death."
Unlike the previous Dao Domains, nothing dramatic happened. No blazing suns. No eternal winter. The only change was a single golden thread. It emerged from empty space before wrapping around my wrist.
The other end coiled around Yu Gan's.
The thread shimmered softly, impossible to break or sever.
Yu Gan looked directly into my eyes, his killing intent erupting without restraint.
"Within this Dao Domain, neither of us may leave the other's presence. You will claim my head, or I will claim yours. You walked willingly into your own grave. So, you only have yourself to blame. I have no intention of allowing you to escape. You will answer for every sin you've committed, and my sect shall be avenged."
Almost mockingly, I reached into my storage ring again. More enormous spirit stones floated into the air and fell down to the island below.
"Summon: Elder Treant."
Another appeared.
"Summon: Elder Treant."
Another. Again. Again. Again.
The battlefield filled with yet more towering guardians, and I didn't stop. The more I summoned, the more veins seemed to pop out of the old man's forehead.
"Among the countless sects you've destroyed, I wonder how many of them hated you just as much as you hate me now?"

[POV: Heavenly Domain Sect]
That day, the Heavenly Domain Sect witnessed a battle unlike anything in its countless millennia of history.
Their Sect Leader stood at the pinnacle of immortality, every movement of his sword concealing profound mysteries accumulated through untold ages. His Immortal Arts were elusive, subtle, and terrifyingly efficient. Each strike seemed unavoidable, each step incomprehensible, and every exchange left fresh wounds upon his opponent.
Yet Wo Li refused to fall.
Again and again, Yu Gan's blade pierced flesh, severed limbs, and carved deep wounds across the silver-haired immortal's body. Again and again, emerald light blossomed from those injuries as they healed before blood could even finish spilling into the air.
The Hermit Sage seemed incapable of remaining injured. Likewise, Wo Li's attacks forced even Yu Gan into constant retreat. Neither immortal could afford the slightest mistake. One error meant death.
Several Heavenly Domain immortals attempted to reinforce their Sect Leader.
Each regretted the decision.
The moment they entered the battlefield, Wo Li simply shifted his attention toward them. Ancient roots erupted beneath their feet, forests exploded from their immortal bodies, and centuries of cultivation disappeared beneath endless emerald branches.
One after another, they died.
Yu Gan's expression darkened each time. He understood the cruel reality. If anyone else joined the battle, Wo Li would simply kill them first.
The old Sect Leader had no choice. He had to face the Hermit Sage alone. Their battle raged from one end of the collapsing island to the other.
Sword qi carved apart mountains.
Ancient forests swallowed immortal palaces.
Golden threads crossed the heavens while colossal Elder Treants marched through cities that had once housed millions of cultivators.
Beneath them, the Soaring Celestial Island continued its slow destruction.
The enormous dragon vein had already been consumed beyond recovery.
Without its foundation, the floating continent fractured into countless smaller landmasses. Entire mountain ranges sheared away before plummeting toward the world below. Magnificent halls shattered into clouds of jade and marble, while disciples desperately escaped aboard flying treasures or fled upon swords as debris rained across the skies.
The multiplying Elder Treants showed no mercy. They pursued fleeing cultivators through collapsing streets. They uprooted spirit fields. They tore apart defensive formations. The sacred home of the Heavenly Domain Sect ceased to resemble a heavenly paradise. It had become a dying forest consuming civilization itself.
From distant continents, countless cultivators looked toward the heavens in stunned silence. They watched one of the greatest sacred lands in existence crumble before their eyes.
Many struggled to believe what they were witnessing.
The Soaring Celestial Island was falling.
The battle continued until neither side could gain a decisive advantage.
Unexpectedly, Wo Li lowered his staff.
His calm voice echoed across the devastated battlefield.
"Five hundred years."
The fighting paused.
"For the next five hundred years, the Heavenly Domain Sect shall rebuild itself. During that time, you will never set foot upon the Earthly Seal Continent. In return, I shall not attack your sect. I will withdraw my Elder Treants and leave your remaining people alive."
The proposal was met with immediate outrage.
"Impossible!"
"We would rather die!"
"How dare you negotiate after destroying our home!"
"You slaughtered our elders!"
"Our sacred island lies in ruins because of you!"
"You think five hundred years can repay this debt?"
The surviving cultivators roared with equal fury.
"Kill him!"
"Avenge the sect!"
"Never compromise with this monster!"
Wo Li slowly turned toward the voices, and then he smiled. It was not the smile of a benevolent sage. It was the grin of someone who had already abandoned concern for his own life.
"So..."
His voice grew louder.
"It is a fight that you want?"
His eyes burned with terrifying excitement.
"Excellent!"
The Hermit Sage raised his wooden staff.
Wild laughter erupted from him, echoing across the broken heavens.
"Then let us fight to the death!"
His laughter became increasingly unrestrained, almost manic, carrying not fear, but anticipation.
"I don't mind dying here. If mutual destruction is the price, then let's see whose people survive the aftermath!"
Silence followed.
Even the enraged cultivators found themselves unable to speak. They realized the truth that this man truly did not fear death.
Yu Gan stared at Wo Li for a long time. His sword remained raised. His hands trembled ever so slightly.
Finally, the old Sect Leader lowered his blade.
"I..."
His voice sounded heavier than ever before.
"...accept."
The declaration spread throughout the shattered battlefield, filled with regret and killing intent.
"For five hundred years, the Heavenly Domain Sect shall not interfere with the Earthly Seal Continent. Five hundred years of peace. When that time ends, our feud shall be settled."

[POV: Wo Li]
In the end, I bought exactly what I had come here for.
Time.
The surviving Elder Treants obeyed my command without hesitation. One after another, they abandoned the shattered remains of the Soaring Celestial Island and followed me like an endless emerald army. Behind us, the Heavenly Domain Sect began the impossible task of salvaging what little remained of their sacred home.
I didn't look back.
There was nothing left worth seeing.
As I quietly traveled toward the Touch Grass Sect, I replayed the battle inside my mind. I had learned far more than I expected. For one thing, I finally understood how Yu Gan managed to defeat Mab.
It was his Dao Domain.
If Mab had challenged him alone, perhaps the outcome had always been inevitable. I tightened my grip around my staff. The ceasefire I negotiated was nothing more than borrowed time.
Neither Yu Gan nor I believed our hatred would disappear after five centuries.
No.
This blood feud would end only when one side ceased to exist.
Either the Heavenly Domain Sect would erase the Touch Grass Sect from history, or I would uproot them completely.
There could never be another ending. The thought didn't frighten me. It simply clarified what had to be done next. I looked toward the distant horizon where my sect awaited my return. Preparations had to begin immediately.
Five hundred years sounded like an eternity.
For immortals, it was only the briefest of respites before the next war.
"Are we going home?" asked Tao Wolong. "M-Mom? How is she?"
The young half-dragon was perched on top of an Elder Treant, looking worried. I managed to nab him from their prison midst the confusion. He was part of the reason why I recklessly charged into their island.
I answered, "Yes, we're going home. As for your mother, well, she's probably worried over you. Tell her how much you love her, okay?"
