Chapter 407: Chapter 403: Underground Palace Realm
A streak of sword light shot over, landing beside Mu Yunhe within a few breaths. From within it, Ning Jiang’s figure emerged.
"You’re finally here."
Mu Yunhe sneered. "A wise man knows how to adapt. If you want your Sister An to be safe, you should know what to do. Take this. This Jade Token is your pass. For this entry into the tomb, each of the Seven Great Super Sects only has ten spots. I hope you don’t disappoint us."
Mu Yunhe took out a Jade Token and tossed it to Ning Jiang.
After Ning Jiang caught the Jade Token, his voice, as cold as if it had risen from the Nine Netherworld Yellow Springs, said, "If Sister An is harmed in the slightest, I will make Wuliang Palace experience the terrors of Hell."
Hearing this, Mu Yunhe remained noncommittal.
He paid Ning Jiang’s words no mind. ’A mere God-Seizing Realm Cultivator... what could he possibly do against a behemoth like Wuliang Palace?’
"Rest assured, as long as you help Wuliang Palace obtain the Celestial Pill, nothing will happen to your sister. Moreover, Wuliang Palace will not treat you unfairly," Mu Yunhe said indifferently.
Wasting no more words, Ning Jiang moved and entered the Celestial Fiend Miasma.
The Celestial Fiend Miasma was a murky gray. The moment he stepped inside, the mist billowed toward him, threatening to swallow him whole. This miasma was a type of Corpse Qi generated from the bodies of fallen Kings.
This Corpse Qi served as the tomb’s natural Protective Shield, potent enough to kill even experts of the Heaven-Reaching Realm.
However, Ning Jiang remained unharmed upon entry. The Jade Token in his hand emanated a surging King’s Power, which formed a barrier of light around him and protected him from the corrosive Celestial Fiend Miasma.
He then made his way deeper inside.
Along the path, the land was devoid of life. Everything had been obliterated by the Celestial Fiend Miasma, leaving a scene of utter desolation thick with an aura of death. Its destructive power was staggering.
Upon reaching the heart of the Celestial Fiend Miasma, a massive hole in the ground appeared before Ning Jiang.
The Celestial Fiend Miasma was emanating from this very hole.
’It seems this is the entrance to the tomb.’
Ning Jiang stepped forward into the hole.
The chasm was incredibly deep. As soon as he entered, a teleportation force enveloped him, carrying him off to an unknown location.
’A Teleportation Array.’
A peculiar glint appeared in Ning Jiang’s eyes. This was a Teleportation Array that would randomly teleport anyone who entered.
An ordinary person might have panicked, but Ning Jiang remained perfectly composed. He knew this Array was not designed to harm anyone.
After a few breaths, the Array Power teleported him away. A completely unfamiliar landscape greeted his eyes.
It was a vast Underground Palace, stretching a full five hundred li across!
An area five hundred li across was the size of half a nation. Back in the day, the entire Cyan Cloud Country had only been a thousand li across.
If word of this place were to spread, it would surely shock countless Martial Artists.
Most Martial Artists, after death, were simply buried in a coffin.
Yet here, an area five hundred li across had been hollowed out deep underground to serve as a tomb.
This was the work of a Celestial Martial Realm King.
As Kings, they were supreme beings in life, commanding the elements and deciding the fates of countless people with a single thought. When figures of their stature died, their tombs were far beyond anything an ordinary person could compare.
Of course, in Ning Jiang’s eyes, this was nothing particularly impressive.
’Some of the more high-level tombs are entire pocket dimensions carved out of the void. But building such a tomb requires mastery of Spatial Power, something only a Saint Martial Realm expert can achieve.’
Ning Jiang glanced up at the ceiling of the Underground Palace. The gray Celestial Fiend Miasma was concentrated there, leaving the ground level below untouched.
At the same time, he felt a ubiquitous power permeating the space, acting like a shackle that prevented him from flying.
It was a Forbidden Sky Array.
’In a place as sacred as a tomb, allowing people to fly about freely would be a great disrespect to the King, wouldn’t it?’
A Celestial Martial Realm King must not be offended, even in death.
Ning Jiang was certain that if he tried to force himself into the air, the Array would immediately suppress him.
’I don’t see anyone else. Looks like they’ve all gone ahead.’
Ning Jiang murmured to himself. The prodigies of the Seven Great Super Sects had all entered before him; they were likely already taking action to find the Celestial Pill.
Looking ahead, he saw a dense, lush forest.
Ning Jiang tried to release his Divine Sense to survey the area, but it too was restricted, unable to extend more than a hundred zhang.
’Finding the Celestial Pill is going to take some effort.’
Putting the thought aside, Ning Jiang pushed off the ground and darted into the woods.
The forest was filled with ancient, towering trees. Some of them looked to be two or three thousand years old.
ROAR.
Less than an hour after Ning Jiang had entered the forest, a roar echoed as a Demon Beast lunged at him from the trees.
It was a Demon Wolf the size of a water buffalo. The beast was hairless, its body covered in sharp, thorny bone spikes that made it seem a third larger than it actually was. Its blood-red pupils looked as if they might drip blood at any moment.
’A Thorn Demon Wolf.’
Ning Jiang recognized the creature. This type of Demon Beast was quite rare in the outside world, known for its ferocious and bloodthirsty nature.
"Get lost."
Unwilling to waste time on the Thorn Demon Wolf, Ning Jiang barked the command and unleashed the full, formidable might of his God-Seizing Realm cultivation.
WHIMPER...
The Thorn Demon Wolf sensed that Ning Jiang’s power was far greater than its own and let out a few fearful whimpers.
But it didn’t run. Instead, it threw its head back and let out a long howl.
AWOOO!
’You’re courting death.’
A cold glint flashed in Ning Jiang’s eyes. With a wave of his sleeve, a strand of Sword Qi materialized and shot straight through the Thorn Demon Wolf’s skull.
But at that moment, a chorus of howls rose up from all directions, accompanied by the trembling of the ground. Soon, Ning Jiang was surrounded on all sides by more Thorn Demon Wolves.
The one leading the pack was particularly enormous, nearly twice the size of the others. This was the Thorny Demon Wolf King, and the aura it exuded was comparable to that of an Immortal Realm expert.
’Looks like I’ll have to start my time in this Underground Palace with a massacre.’
Ning Jiang shook his head, unafraid.
SHING.
With the ring of a sword and a flash of lightning, the Thunder Punishment Sword was unsheathed.
The moment the sword was drawn, it meant Ning Jiang was done holding back.
SHLICK!
Each flash of the Thunder Punishment Sword claimed the life of a Demon Wolf. After felling more than a dozen of them, Ning Jiang’s figure blurred as he shot straight toward the Wolf King.
’To catch the bandits, you first have to catch their king.’ He had no interest in getting bogged down fighting these lesser Demon Wolves.
ROAR.
The Wolf King roared furiously and pounced.
The fight was over in less than ten moves. Ning Jiang slew the Wolf King with a single sword strike, and the remaining Demon Wolves scattered in terror.
With his current strength, killing an ordinary Immortal Realm expert was a simple matter for Ning Jiang.
’This Underground Palace is at least two or three thousand years old; it’s had time to develop its own ecosystem. Since there are Demon Beasts, I wonder... could there be people living here too?’
Sheathing the Thunder Punishment Sword, Ning Jiang fell into deep thought.
Suddenly, Ning Jiang’s ears twitched.
The sound of footsteps was approaching from up ahead.
