Chapter 464: Chapter 460: You Are Mr. Ning?
"Look for him? What help could he possibly be?"
Chu Qingqing shook her head disdainfully.
Not long after the three had left, several figures flew in swiftly from a distance and landed beside Ning Jiang. "Mr. Ning, you’ve finally arrived."
The speaker was a young man—Meng Tianyu himself.
When he and Ning Jiang had parted ways, he had given Ning Jiang a "Mother and Child Jade" that allowed them to sense each other. Through the jade, he knew Ning Jiang had reached the island and had rushed over with his men to greet him.
His coming out in person showed the great importance he placed on Ning Jiang.
"Please, Mr. Ning, come with me. Allow me to play the part of a gracious host," Meng Tianyu invited.
"That’s very thoughtful of you."
Ning Jiang nodded.
Under Meng Tianyu’s guidance, the group proceeded unimpeded into the central region of Meteor Island.
The central region, an area spanning a hundred miles, was where the Meng Family was located.
Within the Meng Family’s domain, great mountains rose from the ground. Pavilions and palaces were built atop the towering peaks, and amidst the swirling clouds and mist, the scene was one of magnificence.
Meng Tianyu held Ning Jiang in high esteem, hosting a welcome banquet for him in a luxurious grand hall built on a mountain peak. Rows of beautiful Maids, dressed in thin gauze, sang and danced.
But Ning Jiang had no interest in such things. After a short while, he waved his hand and said, "Have them leave. Arrange a quiet place for me."
"Of course. Whatever Mr. Ning says."
Meng Tianyu waved his hand, dismissing the many Maids.
A short time later, Meng Tianyu led Ning Jiang into a tranquil bamboo forest. As far as the eye could see, a stream gurgled and bamboo leaves rustled like waves—a rare and secluded paradise.
"Mr. Ning, if you need anything at all, just call for me."
Meng Tianyu did not linger long and quickly took his leave.
Once outside, his brow furrowed. "Where is Chu Qingqing? Where did she go?"
"Young Master, they went out for a walk earlier. This subordinate has already sent people to find them. They should be found within half an hour."
Hearing this, Meng Tianyu’s expression softened slightly.
But when he thought of Ning Jiang’s behavior at the banquet, he grew worried. ’Ning Jiang really doesn’t seem like the type to be interested in women...’
’Chu Qingqing is different from your average pretty face. I hope she can be of some use,’ Meng Tianyu thought to himself.
...
About half an hour later, Chu Qingqing, her sister, and their father were brought to the location.
At this moment, however, Chu Qingqing’s expression was incredibly ugly. She already knew that the person Meng Tianyu wanted her to serve was in the bamboo forest up ahead.
"Chu Qingqing, Mr. Ning is inside. You should know what to do!"
Meng Tianyu said coldly.
Although her heart was filled with reluctance, Chu Qingqing knew she had no other choice. She took a deep breath and said, "Lead the way."
"Very good."
Meng Tianyu nodded and led the three inside.
After venturing several hundred zhang deep into the bamboo forest, the group saw a figure with its back turned to them.
"Huh? Why does he look a little familiar?" Chu Qingqing frowned.
"Brother Ning."
Beside her, Chu Xiu’Er instantly recognized the owner of that back and cried out in delight.
"Xiu’Er?"
Ning Jiang turned around. He, too, was stunned for a moment when he saw Chu Xiu’Er and the others.
"Ning Jiang, what are you doing here?" Chu Qingqing’s eyes widened. A thought struck her, and she asked in disbelief, "The so-called Mr. Ning? Don’t tell me it’s you?"
"You know each other?"
Meng Tianyu stared at them, dumbfounded. A sense of unease suddenly crept into his heart. ’Did I try to be clever only to shoot myself in the foot this time?’
"This girl and I are fated to meet," Ning Jiang said, looking at Chu Xiu’Er.
Meng Tianyu was a smart man and immediately understood. Seeing Ning Jiang’s indifference toward Chu Qingqing, he knew their relationship wasn’t deep.
"Young Master Meng, you said you wanted me to serve a Mr. Ning, an ultimate genius who could kill an Earth Martial Realm expert with a wave of his hand. You were talking about him?" Chu Qingqing said with a frown.
"Do not be rude to Mr. Ning," Meng Tianyu snapped.
"Young Master Meng, forgive my bluntness, but have you been deceived by him?" Chu Qingqing couldn’t help but say.
It was no wonder she had such thoughts. In her eyes, Meng Tianyu was merely at the Innate Realm. He was an unscholarly, good-for-nothing Demon Lord of Mayhem who could have easily been fooled by some trick of Ning Jiang’s.
"Deceived?" Meng Tianyu’s face darkened instantly. "Are you implying that I’m an idiot?"
Hearing his icy tone, Chu Qingqing’s expression changed as she realized she had misspoken.
"Young Master Meng, you jest. That’s not what Qingqing meant. I’m merely suspicious of him. You might not know this, Young Master Meng, but when I first met him, he was gravely injured. He didn’t seem like an ultimate genius at all."
Chu Qingqing shifted the blame onto Ning Jiang.
"Insolent!"
Meng Tianyu roared in anger, "I have witnessed Mr. Ning’s strength with my own eyes! How could it be fake?"
"Alright, let me say a few words."
Ning Jiang waved his hand, stopping Meng Tianyu from speaking. He looked at Chu Qingqing and said, "Chu Qingqing, do you think you’ve seen through me? You don’t realize you’re just a frog in a well, short-sighted and narrow-minded. How could you possibly know what I’m capable of?"
"Hmph, what are you capable of? Bragging about how you crushed a Sword King Body?" Chu Qingqing retorted, unconvinced.
She was a Sword Cultivator, after all, with an unyielding personality. The only reason she was wary of Meng Tianyu was because her family’s lives were threatened. She certainly wasn’t afraid of Ning Jiang.
"I know you’re not convinced. Words are meaningless. For a Martial Artist, true skill is shown through action. I’ll give you a chance. If you can take one move from me, you win," Ning Jiang said nonchalantly.
"One move?"
Chu Qingqing’s brow twitched. Feeling deeply insulted, she laughed in fury. "Fine! You said it. I hope you don’t regret it!"
"Young Master Meng, if I injure him, you’d better not hold it against me!"
Chu Qingqing glanced at Meng Tianyu, only to see the corner of his mouth curl into a sneer as he said coldly, "If you can manage to injure Mr. Ning, I’ll cut off my own head and give it to you."
"Then I’ll be sure to watch for that."
Chu Qingqing’s eyes snapped open. With a CLANG, her Treasure Sword left its sheath. With her sword in hand, a torrent of Sword Intent erupted from her body, and her entire aura became incomparably sharp.
"Ning Jiang, take this! Sea-Splitting Sword!"
Chu Qingqing slashed down. A water-like ripple descended, and the surrounding air parted like a sea wave, a powerful ROAR echoing from the motion.
Spurred on by Ning Jiang and Meng Tianyu, Chu Qingqing’s Essence, Qi, and Spirit condensed into a single point, allowing her to unleash the strongest sword strike of her life. She was confident that this strike could even injure an Earth Martial Realm expert.
"Ning Jiang, if you surrender now, I can still pull back my sword. Otherwise..."
"Pathetic."
Ning Jiang shook his head and pointed a finger.
