Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 1078: You Wouldn't Like...

The Butcher violently heaved up a mouthful of sour bile. Hunched over in a half-squat, he could barely catch his breath, his face twisted in agony.

Ruyi said, "You still dare to leak killing intent? Do you have any idea who I am? Where do you get the nerve?"

It took The Butcher quite a while to recover. Finally catching his breath, he asked, "Who... are you?"

"You don't even know, yet you still dared to direct your killing intent at me!"

With that, Ruyi kicked him again.

The Butcher wanted to weep but had no tears. This woman truly didn't hold back at all. The pain made him bare his teeth and grimace.

Just what kind of people were in the Tang Manor?

He had been a renowned blade butcher in the jianghu. But here, he was nothing but a side dish—anyone could casually beat him up.

He truly should never have come to the Tang Manor.

Seeing Yan Nantian, The Butcher immediately grew excited.

"Master, you're all right?! Master!"

Yan Nantian sighed. "I am fine. But you—why did you break into the Tang Manor, only to get caught red-handed?"

The Butcher explained, "A household in the alleys of Kangping District heard some rumors. We figured you were likely in the Tang Manor, so I came ahead to scout it out and confirm if you were really here. Master, have they placed you under house arrest?"

Yan Nantian sighed again. "It is not house arrest. They helped us, and I am currently recuperating here."

"Huh?"

The Butcher blanked for a moment, turning his head to look at Ruyi standing behind them.

He took one glance and didn't dare to look again.

This woman hit way too hard!

He absolutely could not afford to provoke her!

Yan Nantian let out a long sigh and said, "I am fine. Go back first and put everyone's minds at ease. Qingshui is also resting here temporarily. Just do what you must, and do not expose your tracks."

The Butcher paused, then said, "Master, your subordinate is incompetent..."

Yan Nantian waved his hand with a helpless smile. "Taking a loss in the Tang Manor is nothing to be ashamed of. You should know that the young lady who brought you in is none other than the once-renowned Ruyi the Spear Immortal of the jianghu. Being no match for her is not a disgrace."

The Butcher froze. "Spear Immortal?"

The memory suddenly hit him.

Years ago, that title had indeed resounded throughout the jianghu.

A woman, a Silver Spear, and a civet cat—she had roamed the entire jianghu without finding a single opponent.

Later, the martial world had bestowed upon her the title of Ruyi the Spear Immortal. Whoever met her had to show her a degree of respect.

Thinking of this, cold sweat broke out across The Butcher's skin.

He cast another glance back.

Seeing his reaction, Ruyi raised her hand to scare him.

The Butcher quickly snapped his head back forward. He said in a trembling voice, "Master, is this woman really..."

Yan Nantian rubbed his forehead, speechless. "She can hear you, you pig-slaughtering fool. Could you try not to be so stupid?"

Among his subordinates, The Butcher was by far the thickest. Though he was reckless, he was extraordinarily fierce in a fight. It was a mixed bag. After all, not everyone could have both brains and brawn like Yaoye.

"I-is that so..."

The Butcher gulped, then turned his head to look at Ruyi once more.

"Hey."

Ruyi looked at The Butcher and said, "Muttering about me right to my face. You really do have some nerve."

Yan Nantian stepped up to smooth things over with a smile. "Miss, my subordinate has a brash temperament. Please don't take offense."

Ruyi shot him a sideways glance and shook her head.

She didn't linger any longer. As she left, however, she tossed out a warning: "Tell your men to stop courting death. If that retainer hadn't shown mercy today, your subordinate here would have likely lost his life."

Yan Nantian nodded. "Thank you for the reminder, Miss."

Only after Ruyi left did Yan Nantian let out a long breath of relief.

The Butcher finally spoke up. "Master, you must leave Qingshan City at once! Those Northern Desert bastards have already set their sights on you!"

Yan Nantian sighed heavily. "I know. But there is one matter that makes me particularly uneasy."

"What is it?"

Yan Nantian frowned slightly. "Someone who looks exactly like me has appeared in Shangjing City."

The Butcher froze. "Exactly like you?"

"Yes."

Yan Nantian still couldn't figure out what they were trying to do.

Along with the sudden ambush by the North Desert People last night.

It put Yan Nantian on high alert.

Were they planning to capture him and then replace him with a double?

Yet Yan Nantian felt this possibility was slim.

Even if the imposter shared his face, the gap in their knowledge would be far too vast. The ruse would easily be exposed.

Furthermore, even if he were to truly disappear...

...the situation at the Border Pass would not necessarily slacken. When the time came, the Northern Desert would still find no openings. This was all thanks to the peerlessly brave general under his command—a man whose hatred for the Northern Desert ran deeper than his loyalty to him as Prince Yu.

After sending The Butcher away, Yan Nantian fell into deep thought once again.

"Just what are they trying to do..."

He pondered it endlessly but could not grasp it.

For the past few days, he had been stuck on this matter, utterly unable to make sense of it.

He had even consulted Ruyi about it.

In his view, since Ruyi had long navigated the jianghu, she might have a better eye for these types of schemes and conspiracies. Perhaps she could spot the problem.

But after listening to his explanation, Ruyi merely stared back with wide, bewildered eyes.

"What, what?"

Seeing this, Yan Nantian understood.

Ruyi was, essentially, an idiot.

Yan Nantian let out a helpless sigh and said, "I understand. You're only good at fighting."

"You think I'm stupid?"

"I didn't say that."

"You'd better not have."

"Heh..."

Yan Nantian glanced at her and asked, "On a separate note, why do you reek of rouge and powder lately? There is even the scent of musk. That is not a good thing. Inhale it for too long, and you will become infertile."

"Do you have the nose of a dog?"

"I have been sensitive to smells since I was young. Judging by the scent on you, and given that you rarely use makeup yourself, there is only one possibility. You went to a brothel. And since the smell has lingered for so long, you must have stayed there for quite a while."

Yan Nantian looked at her, continuing, "You are a woman. Why would you spend so much time in a brothel?"

"None of your business!"

Yan Nantian couldn't make sense of it, then suddenly blurted out, "Don't tell me you like women?"

Ruyi froze at the question. She clenched her fists tightly.

"Are you... looking for a beating?!"

Yan Nantian chuckled and said, "A misunderstanding, purely a misunderstanding..."

Ruyi shot him a freezing glare. "If it weren't for the fact that you're Prince Yu, I'd beat the sour bile right out of your stomach!"

Yan Nantian shrugged, acting as if he didn't care.

Ruyi gave a cold scoff, then turned and left.

Yan Nantian stroked his chin, genuinely pondering the thought.

Could it be that she really did like women?

What should he do about that?

Perhaps he should reward her with a few pretty young women when the time came?

That seemed highly inappropriate...

Yan Nantian shook his head, wondering what nonsense was drifting through his mind.

Most likely, it was a side effect of spending too much time with Ruyi.

Even his thoughts had grown thoroughly messy.
