Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 1084: Immortals Hidden in the Painted Scroll

Seeing this, everyone froze in shock.

The ring of sabers and swords being drawn echoed in quick succession.

Yet the figure in the black robe merely raised a hand and lowered it slightly. Suddenly, wild beasts lunged from the mountain forest, tearing into the guards surrounding the horse carriage.

"Roar!!"

Bestial roars erupted all around the horse carriage.

The Butcher could only watch, struggling helplessly to no avail.

The priest glanced up, then casually tossed The Butcher aside.

Thud.

In an instant, The Butcher lost consciousness.

The priest raised his head and looked toward the horse carriage. "Prince Yu, are you still not coming out?"

At the priest's words, the occupant parted the curtain and stepped down from the horse carriage.

"High Priest of Northern Desert, Shang Yu..."

Yan Nantian spoke, immediately identifying the man before him.

He was the High Priest of Northern Desert, a disciple who studied under Priest Shang Zhengzu of the Western Xiao Imperial Observatory. Back then, his lineage had been bestowed the royal surname Xiao by the Xiao Emperor, a legacy passed down through the generations.

Shang Yu smiled warmly. "Truly worthy of being Prince Yu. I rarely show my face in this world, let alone meet Your Highness, yet you called out my name at a single glance. Truly remarkable."

Yan Nantian replied, "Knowing oneself and one's enemy is only natural."

Shang Yu nodded slightly, but his tone suddenly shifted. "It is a pity that Your Highness has fallen into my hands today. So, I must ask you to come with me."

Yan Nantian merely shook his head. "I am afraid I cannot let the high priest have his way."

Shang Yu looked at him with curiosity.

Unexpectedly, Yan Nantian moved with blinding speed. With a flick of his long sleeve, a Painted Scroll suddenly unfurled.

In the blink of an eye, several figures leaped out from the scroll.

An old man holding a brush and ink, a man drawing a longbow, and a third—a handsome figure dressed as a scholar.

The priest tensed as if facing a formidable enemy, clearly having not anticipated this sudden turn of events.

Zhu Sheng tucked his hands into his sleeves and looked the priest over. "A wandering divine sense that actually possesses the Cultivation Base of the Mortality Shedding Realm."

His gaze was full of curiosity as he studied the priest.

"This ability to project one's divine sense out of the body is quite interesting," Zhu Sheng remarked.

Wu Daozi, on the other hand, could not make heads or tails of it.

He was a painter who had only delved into the art of painting. His current abilities were entirely thanks to obtaining Mister Zhulan's Painted Scroll.

The man drawing the longbow was Li Gu. After the defeat in Yan Land, he had placed himself under Prince Yu's command. In truth, his main goal was to learn the methods of Cultivation.

Shang Yu looked at the group before him. Wu Daozi and Li Gu were nothing to fear, but the scholar left him deeply alarmed.

"Since when did such a figure appear in the world?" Shang Yu murmured.

Zhu Sheng smiled warmly. "I have been walking the Mortal World for three hundred years. It seems you are simply ill-informed."

Shang Yu gave a slight nod and took two steps back.

"No wonder Your Highness is so confident."

Shang Yu continued, "However, who would come without a backup plan?"

With that, Shang Yu raised a hand, formed a hand seal, and softly chanted, "I invite Lord Tushan to appear!"

As his voice faded...

A phantom projection manifested before him.

Tu Hu's gaze swept over the group, and he scoffed. "I told you it wouldn't be that easy."

Shang Yu nodded slightly. "I must trouble you, mountain lord."

Zhu Sheng looked at the tiger demon. "Lord Tushan, His Majesty bestowed the position of a celestial official upon you back then, yet you repay his grace with malice today? You truly are just a wild beast, devoid of gratitude."

Tu Hu's gaze hardened. "You bamboo demon, spewing such filth. You would rather be a lapdog clinging to the Human Dao than ascend the Great Dao. I am not shortsighted like you."

Zhu Sheng smiled genially. "I am free and do as I please; I don't rely on anyone. Who is the dog here? Is it not you, Lord Tushan?"

"Once I smash your teeth and rip out your tongue, you'll know exactly who the dog is!"

With that, Tu Hu raised a hand and summoned a gust of demonic wind.

The wind swept up loose gravel, transforming Demonic Power into a barrage of arrows that shot toward the three men.

Wu Daozi quickly raised his brush, splattering ink through the air.

A protective shield suddenly materialized.

It blocked the sinister wind completely.

Li Gu immediately said, "Please step back, Your Highness."

Yan Nantian nodded and retreated into the horse carriage.

Tu Hu's eyes narrowed as he sneered, "You haven't even set foot on the path of Cultivation, yet you think you can stop me?! Ridiculous!"

As his words fell, Tu Hu waved his hand.

The manifested shield instantly collapsed into a puddle of ink, splattering across the ground.

Wu Daozi shook his head slightly. The difference in their strength was indeed massive.

Li Gu drew his bow and loosed an arrow.

Tu Hu tilted his head, dodging it by a hairsbreadth.

Zhu Sheng then raised his hand. With a mere flick of his sleeve, thousands of razor-sharp bamboo leaves materialized and shot toward Tu Hu.

Tu Hu hurriedly evaded, retreating dozens of paces.

Zhu Sheng said, "Cultivation is not easy for you, mountain lord. You came from the lower realm and finally managed to gain a foothold. Why seek your own doom now?"

"Lower realm?" Tu Hu frowned at those words. "Just how many years have you been cultivating to dare call this place the upper realm?"

Zhu Sheng chuckled. "No, no, it was merely an insult."

"Good! Very good!"

Tu Hu couldn't be bothered to waste any more words.

He summoned his Dharma Manifestation behind him, taking the form of a ferocious tiger.

"Go!"

Zhu Sheng held back his two companions, motioning for them to stay away.

Seeing the fierce tiger pounce, Zhu Sheng's expression remained calm. He raised his hand, gathering the Literary Qi surrounding his body.

It shaped into a sharp blade and slashed toward the tiger!

With a single strike, it severed the tiger's head. The beast let out a wail before dissipating into thin air.

Seeing this, Shang Yu furrowed his brow and glanced toward Tu Hu.

Tu Hu was equally astonished.

He had severely underestimated this bamboo demon. For a demon to possess such pure Literary Qi was truly extraordinary.

Suddenly, Zhu Sheng's gaze turned sharp as his fingers formed a seal.

His Literary Qi surged forth.

"I ask the Wenqu Star to grant me a sword to subdue demons! Smite the evil!"

The light of the Wenqu Star trembled on the horizon, and boundless Literary Qi poured down into Zhu Sheng's hand, materializing into a sword of pure literary energy.

This blade could subdue demons and eradicate evil spirits. Forged in the name of the Wenqu Star, it was imbued with vast, righteous Literary Qi.

Tu Hu's eyes shifted, and he shouted, "Blade, come!"

A sharp blade flew into his grasp.

The demonic aura around Tu Hu surged, sweeping violently through the air.

The priest, Shang Yu, retreated several steps to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.

A deadly clash was imminent!

.

.

"Whoa..."

Ruyi pulled back on the horse's reins and looked out, seeing a towering pillar of demonic aura piercing the sky in the distance.

Her expression changed drastically, realizing that something inhuman must be causing havoc over there.

The Monkey Demon was dead; whatever was coming now was bound to be several times more troublesome.

This was not a situation she could afford to wade into.

'Don't tell me that guy surnamed Yan is actually going to capsize his boat in a gutter.'

Ruyi thought this, yet deep down, she still felt a lingering sense of unease.

She might curse him out, but they had traveled all the way to Shangjing together; they shared some camaraderie, after all.

If he really died, she would still feel somewhat terrible.
