Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 1204: Inexplicable Disappearance

The third month of the eighteenth year of the Shunzhi reign.

The palace selection maidens entered the imperial palace.

Shen Qiuyue, daughter of the Shen family, was chosen and entered the inner court.

This journey had been full of twists and turns. Xie Huan had not exerted much effort from the shadows; he had originally made plans, but fearing he would draw unwanted attention, he largely let things take their course.

Shen Qiuyue’s beauty was flawless, her eyes brimming with tender warmth. Consort Rong, who presided over the selection, took one look at her face and figure and instantly recognized her as a seductress. She had intended to dismiss the girl on the spot, but the emperor happened to visit at that exact moment.

A single look from the Shen family daughter hooked the emperor so thoroughly he could not tear his eyes away. Not daring to disobey His Majesty, Consort Rong had no choice but to admit her into the palace.

"Fox demon..."

Consort Rong thought to herself, a plan already forming in her mind.

Shen Qiuyue, however, took all of this in.

She was a demon in human form.

Consort Rong's assessment had been entirely accurate.

She was, in fact, a fox demon.

During the time at Huaixu.

In a blessed grotto-heaven within the Cultivation World, the Demon Sovereign opened his eyes.

He surveyed his surroundings, pondering for a long time before finally departing.

Following a trail, he made his way to an Immortal Mountain.

Xuanjiu Immortal Mountain had grown famous throughout the Cultivation World thanks to Xiao Dongxu. Now, its gates were as bustling as a marketplace, with an endless stream of visitors coming and going.

The mountain's disciples flourished, each generation surpassing the last.

The Demon Sovereign cast a single glance at the mountain gate before his figure flashed and vanished.

When he reappeared, he was already at the Back Mountain of Xuanjiu Immortal Mountain.

There, a lone figure sat cross-legged by the lake, holding a fishing rod and fishing in total silence.

Sensing someone’s approach, Mo Yu paused.

He turned his head and saw the newcomer.

"Is fishing fun?" the Demon Sovereign asked.

Mo Yu stared at this man whose face and figure were identical to Chen Changsheng. He hesitated for a long moment. Stirred by a sudden realization, the fishing rod in his grip abruptly stilled.

He knew this day would finally come.

Mo Yu let out a long sigh and said, "Sometimes, I truly do not want to see you."

The Demon Sovereign said, "Where else in this world is there a qilin? You should be thanking me instead. I was the one who granted you the right to live. After enjoying these thousands of years of unfettered freedom, what could you possibly be dissatisfied with?"

"I would not dare be dissatisfied," Mo Yu said.

The Demon Sovereign then held out a hand. "Take my hand. Return to my divine body!"

Mo Yu fell silent for a moment. He stared at the Demon Sovereign's outstretched hand but did not take it; instead, he reached back and drew a sharp Sword.

"Fight me. If you lose, return my freedom to me."

The Demon Sovereign simply waved his hand. "There is no need for such trouble."

He merely flipped his wrist.

"Boom!"

Mo Yu suddenly stiffened. His entire body felt as if it were being crushed beneath a massive mountain. With a heavy thud, he was forcefully flattened against the ground.

"Do you submit?" the Demon Sovereign asked calmly.

Mo Yu said nothing more. He knew he had no chance of ever standing back up.

He fell silent, and after a long while, let out a sigh.

The Demon Sovereign reached out. Mo Yu's form gradually dissolved, turning into a totem that flowed up his arm and spread through his limbs and bones. Within his Dantian, the Qilin Totem flickered faintly before settling into stillness.

Having done this, the Demon Sovereign departed the area.

There were still other places he needed to visit.

...

The Mortal World.

The waters of the Tongtian River murmured as they flowed.

Within the Dragon Palace, a strange disturbance echoed from behind a door.

The Dragon Lord, holding the mantle of the Human Dao's Water God, fixed his gaze upon it.

He knew that what lay behind that door was absolute doom.

Without telling anyone, the Dragon Lord stepped through that door alone.

In that very instant.

The currents of the Tongtian River violently shuddered.

Ying En, the Goddess of the Celestial River, sensed the sudden shift. The river waters surged violently, and the water currents throughout the Mortal World abruptly spiraled out of control.

"What is happening?!"

Ying En immediately acted to suppress the water's momentum, but her strength fell short. The currents were not simply out of control; they were rioting.

In that instant, the raging waters of the Tongtian River overflowed, as if...

As if there was no one left to govern them.

That day, the Tongtian River swelled massively. Despite Ying En's desperate efforts to suppress the currents, she could not stop the waters from spilling into the Mortal World. Flooding swept through multiple regions, forcing dams to open their gates and vent the deluge.

Upon receiving his younger sister's message, Ying Tianze, the Grand Crown Prince of the Dragon Palace, rushed back immediately from the Desolate Sea.

"Where is Father?!"

Ying En shook her head. "Father is missing. The waters of the Tongtian River, they seem..."

Ying Tianze looked over and suddenly froze.

"Come with me to Father's temple!"

The two instantly hurried to the Dragon King Temple.

Inside, they saw that the divine statue had fractured with jagged cracks. The incense offered by the pilgrims sent up rising smoke that drifted about aimlessly, completely without direction.

The divine seat of the Water God had shattered!

A heavy shock struck Ying Tianze's heart. He knew full well that a divine statue would shatter for only two reasons.

The first was if an edict from the Human Sovereign stripped away the Water God's divine rank.

The second was...

But how could that be possible?!

Ying Tianze refused to believe it. His father had cultivated for thousands of years; hardly anyone in this world could match him. How could he possibly have met with disaster?

A suffocating weight pressed down on Ying Tianze's chest.

"Brother," Ying En said, "Father must still be alive!"

Ying Tianze snapped out of his daze. He took a breath and said, "We have to lock down the Tongtian River's currents first, otherwise the Mortal World will suffer a Tribulation. I will go plead with the ruler of Beicang, the Ink Dragon Lord!"

Upon learning the news, Mo Yuan wasted no time and immediately descended to the Mortal World.

With his assistance, the raging waters of the Tongtian River were swiftly brought under control.

Yet the most critical crisis at hand was not the flooded river.

It was the question of where exactly Ying Zheng had disappeared to!

"Who could possibly defeat him?"

Mo Yuan harbored the exact same doubt. The Old Dragon King was a mighty divine monarch capable of turning the hand to summon clouds, flipping it to bring rain. It would be difficult to find a single worthy rival for him in the entire Cultivation World.

Who could possibly make him vanish without a sound?

No matter how hard he thought, Mo Yuan could not make sense of it.

"Ink Dragon Lord," Ying En pleaded, "my father's whereabouts are entirely unknown, but we cannot ignore the Mortal World's waters. I beg of you, please take temporary command of the Mortal World's water currents to prevent a disaster for its people."

Mo Yuan fell into deep thought at her words.

He shook his head in refusal. "This is a matter for your own family. Not only would it be entirely inappropriate for an outsider like me to interfere, but you also have Ying Tianze. He has the power to manage it. Why come begging to me?"

Ying En blanked for a moment, momentarily dazed. "But..."

She trailed off, and in her daze, a sudden realization hit her.

She tracked down Ying Tianze that very same day.

"Brother..."

Seeing her expression, Ying Tianze immediately understood what she was asking. He spoke frankly. "Little sister, it is not that I am unwilling. But these waters cannot be pacified by brute strength alone—they require the authority of a divine seat. My Dao does not align with this path. Furthermore, Father is merely missing, he isn't truly..."

Ying En fell silent for a long moment. She gave a slight nod and said, "I understand."
