Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 1241: Emotional Tribulation

"You are not Chen the Good Man. Who are you?"

The cat froze, taking two cautious steps back.

"Has it really been so long that you no longer recognize me?"

Lihua stared at the man before it. After a brief silence, it seemed to realize who had come.

It paused, unsure of what to do.

Perhaps it wasn't ready, or perhaps it simply didn't want to see him.

Lihua remained silent for a moment before saying, "Lihua is doing quite well. The Mortal World is very interesting."

"Oh?"

The Demon Sovereign paused before asking, "Did you not live well before?"

Lihua hesitated. To others, this demon might be an unforgivable fiend, but he was different in Lihua's eyes. The Demon Sovereign was an amiable person, not one to kill over a simple disagreement. He had treated it very well.

The Demon Sovereign nodded slightly. "You like the Mortal World?"

"I like it."

The Demon Sovereign looked at the temple full of cats and suddenly changed the subject. "None of these cats are as clever as you."

"But they are very well-behaved, and very pitiful." Lihua paused for a moment before adding, "Just like when you first looked at Lihua. Wasn't that also out of pity?"

The Demon Sovereign pursed his lips, suddenly finding himself at a loss for words.

He had actually been stumped by this foolish cat.

"Never mind, never mind..."

The Demon Sovereign let out a long breath, as if feeling relieved.

He reached out and tapped a finger. A wisp of demonic energy suddenly drifted out from Lihua's body. The residual energy from when the Demon Flower had seeped into its limbs and bones was now being slowly extracted, bit by bit.

Lihua was a little flustered, but upon seeing the situation, it calmed down and made no move to stop him.

Before long, all the demonic energy was completely drawn out.

Lihua immediately felt its entire body lighten.

The extracted demonic energy was caught in the Demon Sovereign's palm, where it transformed into a blooming Demon Flower.

"The flower has bloomed."

The Demon Sovereign looked down at the flower. He remained silent for a long time, falling into a daze.

Only pure innocence could make this flower bloom.

The instant the flower opened, swirling demonic energy surged upward.

It immediately transformed into a Demon Pill, resting in the Demon Sovereign's palm.

Lihua's eyes widened, seemingly not expecting such a transformation.

"With the Demon Pill formed autonomously, one steps into the Celestial Immortal realm."

The Demon Sovereign reached out and rubbed its head. "This was agreed upon long ago. With this, we owe each other nothing."

"What about Mo Yu?"

"It returned to where it came from."

Lihua fell silent, seemingly understanding everything.

It lowered its head, tears welling up in its eyes.

It knew that this day would come sooner or later.

The Demon Sovereign withdrew his hand. "I don't have many friends, and you count as one. Only, from now on, you will have to rely on yourself. This temple is quite nice; it can be considered a good place to settle down."

He stood up.

"I am leaving," he said.

Lihua didn't say anything, simply watching him walk away.

In that moment, the bond between man and cat vanished into thin air.

From then on, he was him, and Lihua was Lihua.

Lihua suddenly felt an immense sense of relief, yet as it watched his receding figure, an undeniable sadness swelled in its heart.

The cat began to cry.

It cried for itself, for Mo Yu, and for the bond lost over these past thousand years.

Everything was over.

...

After leaving, he headed toward the Northwest again.

Within the forest of Buddhist temples, the tolling of a bell rippled through the air.

Pilgrims and believers sat cross-legged within the main hall, reciting Buddhist scriptures, severing their seven emotions and six desires, answering the call of heaven and earth.

When the Demon Sovereign stepped into the hall, the chanting abruptly stopped.

The figure leading the hall had long white eyebrows and a long beard, looking unbelievably ancient.

As their eyes met, the buddha child softly chanted, "You have finally come..."

The Demon Sovereign nodded slightly and sat down.

The Dream Method had myriad variations.

A single dream saw the blue seas turned to mulberry fields.

Zhao Yuqing transformed into a martial artist. No longer concerning himself with the glorious scenery of the world, he secured a position as a martial arts instructor at the local Magistrate's Office, living as peacefully as ever.

A certain woman often spoke with him.

That woman named Tang Yun—no matter how many times Zhao Yuqing looked at her, he still couldn't figure her out.

"Are you tired from practicing martial arts?"

"It's fine. I'm used to it."

Tang Yun wiped the sweat from his forehead. "My mother says you're a man of great ability, that you shouldn't be staying here..."

"Mhm..."

Zhao Yuqing responded, though he didn't even know what he was agreeing to.

Tang Yun pursed her lips, wanting to say something, but the words caught in her throat.

Zhao Yuqing suddenly snapped back to his senses. "What great ability do I have? It's nothing more than swinging swords and brandishing spears. Truly formidable people wouldn't give it a second glance."

He had suddenly grown stupid, unable to understand the hidden meaning in her words.

Hearing this, Tang Yun pursed her lips. She knew Zhao Yuqing hadn't understood.

Gritting her teeth, she simply grabbed Zhao Yuqing's hand.

Zhao Yuqing froze for a moment, looking at it.

"You..."

Tang Yun lowered her head, not knowing how to continue.

"What is it?"

Anger flared in Tang Yun's chest. She flung his hand away and snapped, "Idiot!"

She stormed off in a huff, leaving Zhao Yuqing standing dazed in the wind.

After Tang Yun left, Zhao Yuqing couldn't help but look at his own hand. The soft, delicate sensation was still fresh in his memory.

What kind of feeling was this?

Zhao Yuqing was completely baffled. He sat there and pondered it for a long time.

"Why did she scold me?"

Zhao Yuqing muttered, staring blankly at his palm.

But after he had sat lost in thought for quite a while, the girl who had just left came running back.

"Zhao Yuqing!"

Tang Yun looked at him, her face flushed.

"Huh?" Zhao Yuqing blinked. "Why are you back?"

After a brief hesitation, Tang Yun asked, "Do you actually like me or not?"

Zhao Yuqing was stunned.

He stood up in a panic. "No, I..."

He suddenly found it hard to explain, his mind instantly thrown into a tangled mess.

Tang Yun asked again, "Do you like me or not?!"

Zhao Yuqing opened his mouth, but didn't know how to answer her.

What did it mean to like someone?!

Zhao Yuqing couldn't figure it out; he only felt his heart pounding fiercely.

He was terribly flustered.

'Why am I so flustered?!'

In a split second, Zhao Yuqing suddenly realized.

"This is..."

"An emotional tribulation?!"

His eyes widened, filled with utter disbelief.

His arm suddenly began to tremble.

And when his gaze landed on the woman before him, his previously resolved heart fell into chaos once more.

Seeing that he wasn't speaking, Tang Yun misunderstood his silence.

Instantly, tears streamed down her face.

Weeping, Tang Yun turned her head away and said, "I understand..."

Just as she turned to leave, Zhao Yuqing stopped her.

Tang Yun asked through her tears, "Don't you dislike me? Why are you stopping me?"

Zhao Yuqing was panting, his palms slick with nervous sweat.

"We're going to find your parents right now!"

"I will marry you!"

Even knowing full well that this was an emotional tribulation, he still stepped forward.
