Few things in this world could make Zhao Yuqing afraid.
He rarely felt that anyone's life or death held such weight. He knew the emotional tribulation before him, and he clearly understood it was a Tribulation he had willingly stepped into. Yet, in the end, the concept of it had blurred for him.
The pain was far more heart-wrenching than he had ever imagined.
The agony was absolute and impossible to suppress.
"It's fake. No, no, it's all fake..."
Zhao Yuqing clawed at his own head, his eyes wide.
He knelt before Tang Yun's door.
"Tang Yun!!!"
Zhao Yuqing roared like a madman, his typically desolate eyes now rimmed with red.
Amid his frenzied screaming, it was as if he finally accepted reality.
"Haha..."
"Hahahaha..."
He threw his head back and laughed at the sky, seemingly mocking his own ignorance.
So this was an emotional tribulation. This was an emotional tribulation...
Since it was a tribulation, how could he possibly just step past it? He knew it was a trial and understood his situation perfectly, yet he had still hurled himself straight into the pit.
Weeping and laughing, he knelt there on the ground.
Heavy rain fell from the sky, drenching him to the bone.
In that rainy night, his Dao Cultivation entirely scattered. The Divine Abilities he held in this world dissolved and faded away like spring meltwater.
In an instant, the vast world shrank before his eyes.
It shrank until he could look down and see the myriad forms of mortal life.
Tears still in his eyes, he looked up again—only to see the man in green robes sitting on the bench, holding a book.
Beneath that heart-wrenching pain, his mind finally cleared.
Everything seemed to dissolve into one great dream.
This emotional tribulation was born from a dream and severed by a dream.
Chen Changsheng looked up to see the returned Zhao Yuqing, whose eyes were still rimmed with red. He sat in silence for a moment before saying simply, "It's time for you to go."
Zhao Yuqing froze.
He shook his head, unable to speak.
He looked at this great dream. Everything was so false, yet so terrifyingly real.
Though his mind had cleared, he still could not parse what was real and what was fake; only the sheer pain had managed to rip him free.
Was their meeting false?
Were their decades of love and devotion false as well?
Chen Changsheng raised his hand and gave a gentle push.
Zhao Yuqing felt his divine sense jolt, and in the next instant, he was sent flying backward.
His vision spun and shifted. An instant felt as profound as blue seas turned to mulberry fields.
From within that profound depth, a glimmer of light slowly grew clear.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself standing before the Gate of Reincarnation in the Underworld.
The moment Zhao Yuqing opened his eyes, Manyue could not help but look up as well.
Her gaze fell upon him.
The aura of death blanketing Zhao Yuqing's physical body vanished instantly. The festering decay dissolved alongside it, like a dead tree springing back to life.
"Thud."
Zhao Yuqing suddenly collapsed to his knees.
His eyes reddened once more as tears slid down his cheeks.
But in the very next moment, he slumped over in front of the hall and lost consciousness.
Manyue stepped forward and, with a wave of her hand, settled Zhao Yuqing gently to the side.
She stared at him, a flicker of surprise crossing her face.
"Why is he still in the tribulation?"
The tribulation aura clinging to Zhao Yuqing had not dispersed; rather, it had swelled. The Dao resonance and Magical Power within his body were shuddering.
Manyue leaned in closer, only to see that an inner demon was rapidly taking root and expanding within him.
The next moment.
A sudden force rippled outward from the center of his chest.
"Ring."
A sword's hum quivered in the air, its echo lingering endlessly.
Manyue raised her hand and snuffed out the Sword Qi. A wave of the Great Dao descended, firmly suppressing the restless inner demon.
"An inner demon manifesting into reality?"
Manyue was thoroughly shocked. "This isn't an emotional tribulation. This is..."
"An inner demon tribulation?"
"How can it be this formidable?!"
Her eyes deepened, staring at Zhao Yuqing in utter disbelief.
Wasn't the tribulation aura pouring off his body far too intense?!
There was a saying in Cultivation that a tribulation upon the body was a pairing of both fortune and disaster. If one successfully survived the Tribulation, they would undoubtedly reap tremendous rewards. The heavier the tribulation aura, the harder it was to overcome—but the greater the harvest would be once they did.
Manyue pursed her lips, once again marveling at Zhao Yuqing.
A cultivator underwent Tribulation Transcending to temper their state of mind and align with the Heavenly Dao. But Zhao Yuqing had already reached such a lofty level. To still possess a tribulation aura this immense—if he actually survived this ordeal, what kind of Realm would he break into?
Manyue didn't dare to imagine it. But there was a more pressing problem directly in front of her: whether he could even survive this trial was still completely unknown.
This inner demon tribulation had already reached the point of manifesting illusion into reality.
Given the current situation, if Zhao Yuqing failed to overcome his inner demon in time, this inner demon might genuinely cross over into reality.
If that happened, a true fiend would be born into the world!
...
Meanwhile, within the Dream Method.
Chen Changsheng breathed a sigh of relief after sending Zhao Yuqing away.
The final trace of worry dissipated as well.
The myriad spirits of the Dream Method had manifested, and the rules of this heaven and earth were now complete. Only the final step remained.
Merging with the Dao!
He was not merging with his own Dao, but with the Dao of this very realm. He needed to fuse the laws and the Great Dao of this heaven and earth together. Only by doing so could this space truly become a world of its own.
Before this, Chen Changsheng had never anticipated this step.
The creation of the Dream Method had stemmed from a single idea. How it developed and how it ultimately needed to conclude were things he had only slowly realized through endless comprehension.
With no predecessors to guide him and no one to offer assistance, the path ahead was entirely unknown. Yet, Chen Changsheng had to proceed with merging with the Dao under these very circumstances.
"Since I have already come this far, why fear the outcome?"
Chen Changsheng's state of mind settled completely.
He had already reached this point; there was no need to overthink it.
He stood up from the bench.
He held the Classic of Mountains and Seas in one hand.
Taking a step forward, he spoke in a deep voice.
"In the ancient past, before chaos was divided and the universe was first opened, the Classic of Mountains and Seas was recorded, compiling the tales of gods and spirits of the ancients and passing them down through the millennia.
Today, I wish to use this text as a foundation to forge a small world. May heaven and earth feel my sincerity and bestow upon me a fraction of creation's power, so that we may forge this realm together.
I offer sacrifice to heaven and earth, honoring all things in the cosmos to lay down the foundation of this world. I offer sacrifice to all creation, revering the mountains and rivers, the wind and rain, the lightning and thunder, the flora and fauna; may they grant me inspiration and wisdom to write this universe. I offer sacrifice to the ancients, honoring the ancient Dao of the sages before me. I offer sacrifice to the spirit, cleansing my thoughts to shape this realm and bestow intelligence and life upon its creatures.
By this act, I bridge the past and the future, carrying forward the ancient legacy to form a new world and shape myriad lives!
May all things answer, may this endeavor succeed, and may I attain the Great Dao!"
Chen Changsheng took a deep breath. Seeing the Great Dao of heaven and earth rising around him, he took another step forward and declared:
"I, Chen, shall draw upon the lands of Shanhai, the mountains and rivers of the Nine Provinces, and the myriad lives of the six realms—to merge with the Dao for all eternity!"
The world instantly shuddered as the three thousand Great Daos surged upward.
The creative forces of heaven and earth violently twisted. In Chen Changsheng's eyes, the scattered Great Daos abruptly bound themselves together into a single, massive thread.
But a second later, Chen Changsheng's heart lurched.
He looked out and realized that everything within this Dream-Law Realm was actually beginning to dissolve.
"Why is this?!"
Chen Changsheng paled in shock.
He looked again.
Only to discover that this entire world was actually trying to manifest from illusion into true reality.
"Stop!!"
Chen Changsheng abruptly realized the terrible truth. If it became real, this place would transform into a genuine small world—but in the process, every single living thing inside it would be erased. All of his efforts would be destroyed.
He immediately channeled his magic, gripping the Classic of Mountains and Seas, and spoke in a deep voice.
