Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 1372: Sword Immortal Yan Bei'an

The gray-robed elder rose into the air. With a flip of his wrist, a brush dropped into his hand.

He painted against the void, sketching a fierce tiger.

"Lord of the Mountain, come to my aid! Devour the demons!"

"Roar!"

With a low roar, the painting came to life. The tiger leaped down and charged into the horde of demons, tearing and slaughtering.

Right at that moment.

A feathered arrow flew through the air.

It flashed past the elder's back and plunged straight into the demonic swarm.

Instantly, a massive blaze erupted.

Wu Daozi looked back and spotted a familiar face.

"Mister Wu, it's been a long time."

Wu Daozi stared at the man, snapping out of his daze.

"Little Friend Li!"

A look of joy crossed Wu Daozi's face.

The bow-wielding man smiled warmly, having rushed thousands of miles to get here, just as he always had.

"Then who is that?"

Their gazes shifted together in the same direction.

A figure arrived on a flying sword, descending above the demonic horde.

He gripped his sword and, with a casual raise of his hand, flourished a dazzling arc of light.

In an instant, heaven and earth plunged into dead silence.

It was as if nothing remained in this world but that single sword.

The raggedly dressed Sword Immortal held a three-foot green blade. Facing a demonic swarm like dark clouds pressing down upon the city, he showed not a shred of fear.

Wherever his Sword Qi swept past, demon heads rolled to the ground. They died before they even realized what had happened.

"Hum."

The Sword Qi trembled. As the Sword Immortal turned his head, a face weathered by time and hardship fell into everyone's view.

Yet neither Wu Daozi nor Li Gu had ever seen this man before.

"Could this Sword Immortal have stepped out from the Mortal World, just like you and me?" Wu Daozi asked.

"Perhaps..."

Li Gu thought for a moment, searching his memories. "In the early years of the jianghu, there was a swordsman who comprehended the dao of the Sword Immortal and later ascended to the Immortal Realm. I believe his name was Shangguan Ningjing."

Wu Daozi shook his head. "It isn't him. I know Fellow Daoist Shangguan. He is currently on Lingyue Immortal Island and hasn't returned."

"Then I have no idea."

The two men racked their brains but still drew a blank.

However, watching the sword techniques this man employed, they saw a familiar shadow.

"Sword Mountain's sword arts?"

They exchanged a glance, a wave of astonishment washing over them.

The ragged Sword Immortal threw his head back and gulped down a mouthful of wine. His Sword Intent surged, sending countless streaks of Sword Qi crisscrossing outward.

In merely a split second, he completely reversed the tide of the battlefield.

Seeing the shift in momentum, Sha Tang furrowed his brow and ordered, "Command the five Demon Kings to join forces and slay this Sword Immortal!"

"Yes!"

Taking in the man's sheer display of power, Sha Tang's frown deepened.

This Sword Immortal was extraordinary, leagues above the usual rabble.

But where exactly did this man come from?

Five Great Demons treaded through the air, bearing straight down on the Sword Immortal.

The man's expression remained perfectly calm. After taking another swig, he suddenly flung the remaining wine from his Gourd outward.

"Hum."

Instantly, the droplets of wine morphed into sword blades, whistling toward the five Demon Kings.

Leaping and dodging, the five Demon Kings scattered, quickly forming a tight encirclement around the Sword Immortal.

"This king does not slay nameless nobodies! Who are you? State your name!"

"King?"

The Sword Immortal sneered. "A paltry Seventh Grade demon dares call itself a Demon King? Truly laughable."

As he spoke, his Sword Qi abruptly swelled.

He reached out and swept his Immortal Sword across the air. In the blink of an eye, a bloodcurdling scream rang out.

"Ah!!"

The Demon King who had just boasted shrieked in agony. He looked over to find one of his arms cleanly severed; he hadn't even had the chance to react.

The other Demon Kings instantly sensed that things were going horribly wrong. They realized this entity was entirely beyond their ability to handle.

"Run!!"

The urge to retreat blossomed in their minds. In a flash, they fled several miles away.

The Sword Immortal simply pointed two fingers like a blade. In an instant, five streaks of Sword Qi shot out in hot pursuit.

A chorus of agonizing wails drifted over from several miles away.

All five Demon Kings perished on the spot.

Watching the spectacle, Li Gu praised profusely, "Sword Cultivator. Truly worthy of being called the path of paramount lethal power."

Wu Daozi nodded in agreement. Compared to the obscure and intricate natures of other paths, the path of the Sword Cultivator was the most straightforward. With just a single sword, they could sweep across the world with sheer lethal power. That was exactly why the title of Sword Immortal commanded such widespread renown.

Gazing from afar, Li Gu cupped his hands and called out, "May I ask for the Sword Immortal's esteemed name?"

The Sword Immortal turned back, his gaze resting on Li Gu. After a moment of thought, he replied, "Yan!"

"My name is Yan Bei'an!"

Even upon hearing the name, Li Gu still couldn't place him.

Wu Daozi, however, caught a glimmer of recognition. "In the historical records, toward the end of the Jing dynasty, a prince from the House of Yan received a gift from an immortal and stepped onto the path of the Sword Immortal. Rumor has it he ascended to the Immortal Realm. Could it be him?"

Yet his knowledge amounted to little more than a handful of details; he merely remembered the name itself.

"Old man, did Sword Mountain have someone like this?"

A voice echoed atop the City Wall.

Yu Hongdou stared at the man hovering in the sky, but he completely failed to recall such a figure ever existing in Sword Mountain.

The Old Sword Cultivator nodded. "Yes, of course we did. It's just that he was rarely on the mountain."

"He's actually from Sword Mountain?!" Yu Hongdou asked, momentarily stunned.

"Indeed."

The Old Sword Cultivator gazed at the resplendent Sword Immortal. "Over two hundred years have passed since I first guided him onto the path. I never imagined he would reach such heights today. I always knew he was a genius when it came to learning the sword."

"He's connected to you?" Yu Hongdou blinked in surprise.

"Mhm."

The Old Sword Cultivator smiled. "Now that I think about it, it was because of this brat that I first met Chen Changsheng."

"I see."

Burning with curiosity, Yu Hongdou finally snapped back to reality and looked down at the demons outside the city. "Then, are we still going to join the fight?"

The Old Sword Cultivator shook his head. "Let's just watch the show. Look at those two on the City Wall. One is Wu Daozi, universally praised in the Cultivation World as the Painting Immortal. The other is a top disciple of Tianji Mountain. And with that Senior Brother of yours out there... these lesser demons are nothing to fear."

Yu Hongdou smacked his lips. "You told me we were coming here for practice, but now I'm just watching a play."

The Old Sword Cultivator chuckled aloud. "There will be other opportunities."

Hovering in midair, Yan Bei'an simply raised his sword and cleaved a massive trench into the earth below.

"Cross this line, and you die!!"

At those words, the demonic horde ground to a dead halt.

Residual Sword Qi raged fiercely within the trench, crisscrossing the gap. Not a single demon dared to test it.

He just stood there, completely intimidating the millions of demons before him.

This was the sheer lethal power of a Sword Immortal!

Throughout the boundless passage of time, Sword Immortals had always been unrivaled existences in the eyes of the world.

Sha Tang stared up at the Sword Immortal in the sky, his expression faltering.

With his own Dao Cultivation, he feared he could hardly hold a candle to this man.

After mulling it over for a long while, the only person he could think of was the Demon Lord.

"Go request the Demon Lord!"
