When Zheng Yue woke up, night had already fallen.

His head still throbbed. After shaking off his daze, he finally took in his surroundings.

The doors of the Wine Tavern were shut tight. A single candle burned weakly at a nearby table, and behind it sat a figure.

Noticing that Zheng Yue was awake, Chen Changsheng raised a hand.

"Ah!"

The candlelight cast deep shadows on Chen Changsheng's face, making him appear as a malevolent ghost in Zheng Yue's startled eyes.

He instantly drew his sword. "What kind of demon are you?!"

"..."

Chen Changsheng felt a bit exasperated. He reached out and picked up the candle, finally letting Zheng Yue see his face clearly.

It had scared half the life out of him.

He had thought he'd stumbled into some demon's lair.

He let out a long breath and asked, "Speaking of which, Senior Chen, how did I fall asleep?"

"Perhaps you were just too tired from your journey," Chen Changsheng explained.

Zheng Yue blinked. "Is that so?"

He didn't question it too much.

He sat down and asked, "It's already dark. Speaking of which, where is the senior from earlier today?"

"He had other matters to attend to," Chen Changsheng said.

Zheng Yue nodded slightly, though he didn't quite understand.

Chen Changsheng walked over and sat down. "Speaking of which, This Chen has an idea. I wonder if you might be interested."

"An idea?"

"Yes..."

"Right now, the qi destiny of the Mortal World is unifying, Spiritual Energy is rising, and cultivators are constantly emerging. But there has never been a suitable channel connecting the Cultivation World and the Mortal World. It's like trade across different parts of the Mortal World—the road exists, but no one walks it."

Zheng Yue paused at those words.

Thinking it over carefully, he felt that the senior's words indeed made sense.

It was true!

Why had there never been much contact between the Mortal World and the Cultivation World?

There were plenty of cultivators in the Mortal World too!

If that was the case, wouldn't opening a trade route bring in a vast amount of money?

Of the four essentials of cultivation—wealth, method, companions, and land—wealth was placed at the very head.

Cultivation was a very costly endeavor. If one could resolve this bottleneck of 'wealth,' wouldn't the path of Cultivation become much easier to walk?

But as he thought about it, Zheng Yue sighed again. "Senior, your words certainly make sense, and my heart leaps just hearing them. Unfortunately, my Dao Cultivation isn't high enough. I'm afraid I won't be able to compete."

Chen Changsheng looked at him and said, "If you're interested, I can recommend you to Cloud Mist Immortal Mountain. They will help you."

Zheng Yue froze in surprise. "Senior, why are you helping me like this?"

"I actually want you to deliver some things for me."

"Some wine, and some rice."

"I see."

The two of them talked late into the night, and slowly, the rough outline of a plan formed in Zheng Yue's mind.

It would work! This would definitely work!

The next day, he rode without stopping to Cloud Mist Immortal Mountain, carrying Senior Chen's letter.

When Yun Li saw the letter, his eyes lit up as well.

However, there was one difficult issue.

The Mortal World had an organization called the 'Heavenly Dao,' and quite a few cultivators had met their downfall there.

Going into the Mortal World probably wouldn't be feasible.

"Do you know about the 'Heavenly Dao'?"

"I know," Zheng Yue said. "But Mister Chen said that even though we can't get in, they can come out. We only need to set up a market on an island not far from the Mortal World. I imagine there shouldn't be any trouble."

"That is hard to say for sure."

Yun Li said, "We'll have to negotiate with the cultivators of the Mortal World first."

"That won't be a problem!"

Zheng Yue said, "I should make the trip personally and negotiate with the Heavenly Dao cultivators to secure an island."

"Good!"

Seeing how confident he was, Yun Li agreed to the proposal.

"If it works, my Cloud Mist Immortal Mountain will assist you with all our strength."

"Thank you, Immortal Elder!"

Nothing in this world came for free, and Zheng Yue was willing to put everything on the line. If it succeeded, he would soar—at worst, it was just a gamble!

And so, having only just arrived, Zheng Yue hurriedly boarded a Flying Vessel and set off toward the Mortal World once more.

Chen Changsheng had also given him a Brocade Pouch to deliver to He Qing when he had the time. Inside was some wine and Spirit Rice.

Zheng Yue was brimming with confidence. This journey was dangerous, but success would guarantee prosperity!

...

When Zhao Yuqing heard about all of this, he couldn't help but blink.

"You really just scammed him like that?"

"What do you mean, 'scammed'?" Chen Changsheng said. "This plan is perfectly viable to begin with. The Spiritual Energy in the Mortal World is constantly thickening, and cultivators are bound to restructure the current order eventually. Should we just wait around and scramble to make plans when that day comes?"

"It's better to find a few people to pave the way first, so they don't remain completely isolated. Wasn't the chaos in Hongyuan Tianxia enough of a lesson?"

Zhao Yuqing felt that made a lot of sense, but he was still slightly puzzled. "Since when do you harbor such a sense of greater good?"

"I don't."

Chen Changsheng denied the statement. "I just don't want the Mortal World to be destroyed, that's all."

Zhao Yuqing rubbed his chin and came to understand.

"Let's hope the kid succeeds, then."

"Mm."

Chen Changsheng wiped down a wine cup and stopped thinking about the matter.

Zhao Yuqing leaned back in his chair. "It feels boring in the Wine Tavern with that girl gone."

Chen Changsheng said, "Why don't you just move over here? The climate and soil are nice. It should be enough for you to farm."

"Move here?"

Zhao Yuqing shook his head and said, "If I moved here, the Immortal Sects and Immortal Mountains for a hundred miles around probably wouldn't dare stay."

"You still care about that?"

"After all, that girl's home is right out back. I'm her Master, no matter how you look at it. I can't take things too far."

Chen Changsheng shook his head and said, "Blame your own terrible reputation."

"Right, yours is stellar."

"Stop being sarcastic."

"Heh."

Zhao Yuqing didn't seem to want to bicker with Chen Changsheng. He drank his wine, his thoughts drifting far away.

Chen Changsheng silently wiped the cups, mentally counting the stock in the Wine Tavern. If it wasn't enough, he would have to brew some more. This was something he did every time he woke up.

They were minor tasks, but they passed the time.

Zhao Yuqing said, "Speaking of which, if the world really does flip upside down, will you still be alive?"

Chen Changsheng paused. "Didn't you ask that already?"

"What does death feel like?"

Chen Changsheng looked up and said, "It's alright. It's just an instant, but it also feels quite long. Right before death, it's like riding a horse and viewing flowers, taking one last look at your whole life, before finally falling completely into nothingness."

"Is that so..."

Zhao Yuqing murmured. He tilted his head back and downed a cup of wine.

Chen Changsheng asked, "Are you going to die?"

"Not yet. I still have, say, one or two hundred years."

Chen Changsheng froze in surprise when he heard this. "One or two hundred years? Isn't that a bit too fast?"

"I am already very old."

Zhao Yuqing said, "Why don't you guess how old I actually am right now?"

"One thousand three hundred?"

"Wrong!"

"I am already one thousand six hundred years old!"

Zhao Yuqing said, "The people in this world who have lived this long can be counted on one hand! Furthermore, the Arts and Techniques I practice do not focus on the path of longevity."
