Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 749: Is There Such a Principle?

Master Jin San had searched nearly all of Qingshan City, asking everyone he could.

Yet in the end, he returned disappointed.

As noon approached, the crowd in the tea house gradually thinned out.

Cao Fa still sat there, waiting for Master Jin San to return.

"You didn't find him?"

"No."

Master Jin San let out a long sigh. "You know, the more I think about it, the more I feel that it was Mister Chen."

Cao Fa paused and glanced at him.

Wanting to speak yet holding back.

Master Jin San looked up at those words, momentarily stunned.

Then he stood up without a word.

He ran out of the tea house, only to suddenly turn right back around.

Master Jin San caught his breath and asked, "Chuanfeng Alley... which house?"

Cao Fa froze.

Master Jin San said helplessly, "I can't remember..."

He really was getting old, after all.

Cao Fa, however, could never forget where Mister Chen lived.

Back when he was still an employee, he had gone every morning to invite Mister Chen to the tea house to tell stories.

Which alley, which household—he couldn't be any clearer on that.

Cao Fa sighed softly and stood up. "I'll go with you."

Master Jin San was slightly taken aback.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Master Jin San gave him a deep look.

Cao Fa let out a breath. "Even though I've ended up like this, if Mister knew that even demons and ghosts come to listen to my storytelling, he would definitely be happy for me."

Master Jin San fell silent for a moment before he started to laugh.

"As long as you've thought it through."

The two misters walked out of the tea house, one after the other.

Chuanfeng Alley wasn't far from the tea house; it was only a few steps away.

Master Jin San supported Cao Fa as they walked step by step toward Chuanfeng Alley.

Looking at this familiar alley, Cao Fa's gaze first fell on the house directly opposite Mister's courtyard.

Zhishu used to live here.

He used to come here often too, standing just outside the alley to quietly exchange a few words with Zhishu.

Cao Fa sighed and continued forward.

Master Jin San seemed to notice, simply saying, "Think less. Dwell on it less."

"Mhm."

The two misters stood at the entrance of the courtyard.

Cao Fa reached out and knocked on the door.

"Knock, knock, knock..."

The door latch rattled crisply.

Both of their gazes were fixed on the door.

After waiting a while, the door still hadn't opened.

"Perhaps I saw wrong..." Master Jin San murmured.

For some reason, Cao Fa felt a sudden sense of relief.

He didn't understand why, either.

It was probably because he didn't want Mister to see him in this aged, critically ill state.

Unexpectedly, the very next moment.

Footsteps suddenly sounded from behind the door.

"Creak..."

The door before them was abruptly pulled open from the inside.

Both misters froze, raising their eyes to look.

Standing before them was a mister dressed in a green scholar's robe.

That face, despite the weathering of time, hadn't changed in the slightest.

Like the unchanging Green Mountain, his features remained exactly as they were.

Seeing the two standing outside the door, Chen Changsheng said, "This Chen thought he had misheard."

Cao Fa's arm trembled, and his voice quivered along with it as he called out, "Mister Chen!"

Master Jin San hurriedly bowed low. "This student greets Mister!!"

Chen Changsheng looked at them both and smiled. "Come inside and talk."

Time had marched on.

The two men before him had grown old.

Cao Fa was already white-haired, and Master Jin San's face was covered in wrinkles; even his voice carried a hint of hoarseness when he spoke.

The wind and frost of time hastened a person's aging.

Master Jin San stared in surprise and said, "Mister, your hair..."

Back then, due to the incident in the Demon Domain, Chen Changsheng's hair had turned entirely white. Compared to the past, he looked a little different.

Chen Changsheng merely smiled and said, "It looks quite nice white, too."

He didn't mind it at all.

Master Jin San opened his mouth, but only let out a helpless sigh.

He supported Cao Fa as they moved into the courtyard and sat down.

Chen Changsheng looked at Cao Fa. The man's current condition was much more severe than Chen Changsheng had imagined.

With a head full of white hair and a pale, weak complexion, it seemed to take a great deal of effort for him just to sit down.

Cao Fa raised his head to look at Chen Changsheng. "Unfilial student Cao Fa greets Mister."

Chen Changsheng said, "Your complexion doesn't look too good."

Master Jin San opened his mouth as if to speak, but after a thought, he let it go.

Cao Fa said, "When a person grows old, this is inevitable."

Chen Changsheng didn't call them out on it, saying, "Along the way, This Chen has heard people speak of you two. You are now two Grand Misters whose fame has spread across the world."

Cao Fa let out a helpless smile. "Mister jests. How could the two of us dare call ourselves misters in front of you?"

Chen Changsheng said, "If you are, then you are."

He paused, then continued, "This Chen has never taught anyone in this life, nor does he know how to teach. But I never expected that you two would go on to achieve such great things. This Chen is very happy for you."

"But This Chen also has one thing to say."

Chen Changsheng looked at the two of them. "This Chen truly hasn't taught you anything. This is all something you earned with your own hands."

Master Jin San shook his head. "If not for Mister's guidance, how could the two of us have entered this path? And how could we have achieved our current world-renowned fame?"

Chen Changsheng smiled. "It is not the same."

He waved his hand and sighed. "Forget it, let's not talk about this anymore."

Chen Changsheng looked at Master Jin San. "This Chen heard that when you roamed the world many years ago, you witnessed quite a lot."

Master Jin San nodded hastily. "It's all written in the books. I wonder if Mister has read them?"

Chen Changsheng smiled. "During those early years when you weren't in Qingshan City, This Chen returned once. Cao Fa showed me what you wrote. Some of it was true, some of it was false, but it was all written exceptionally well."

Master Jin San laughed upon hearing this. "Perhaps it is fate."

Chen Changsheng nodded.

He then asked, "Speaking of which, after the two of you went to the Capital City and displayed your talents, gaining both fame and fortune, why did you suddenly return?"

At the mention of this, the two were momentarily at a loss.

Master Jin San opened his mouth, wanting to speak yet holding back.

Ultimately, Cao Fa spoke up. "It's like this, Mister. Actually, it's all because of me. My old bones can no longer handle taking the stage. Left with no other choice, we returned. I probably won't be able to tell stories anymore."

"Oh?" Chen Changsheng paused and looked at him. "This Chen knows a little about medicine. Why don't I check your pulse?"

Cao Fa's heart skipped a beat, and he glanced at Master Jin San.

Master Jin San didn't speak, but his eyes conveyed a message to Cao Fa.

"What's wrong?" Chen Changsheng asked, despite already knowing the answer.

"It's nothing..."

Cao Fa extended his hand.

Master Jin San looked at Mister Chen. He seemed to have anticipated something.

Yet Chen Changsheng didn't reach out; instead, he simply looked at Cao Fa.

Seeing that Mister wasn't making a move, Cao Fa was momentarily confused.

A moment later, Chen Changsheng sighed and spoke.

"You two call me Mister, yet among the principles of this world, is there such a principle as hiding your hardships from your Mister?"
