Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 779: Heart-Bewitching Cicada

"The Spirit Void is infinite, and thought is infinite."

Tianxin continued, "The single word 'Spirit' can control the self, command qi and blood, and alter yin and yang..."

Tianxin spoke on.

Astonishment flickered across the faces of everyone present.

Soon after, however, their gazes turned strange.

The crowd, which had been somewhat distracted only moments ago, now locked all their attention onto Tianxin. It was as if their minds had been seized.

Qin Chuan did not escape this fate. Caught by Tianxin's voice, her focus was reeled in within a split second.

Chen Changsheng frowned. He pinched together a sliver of Magical Power and flicked it into the center of Qin Chuan's brow.

Qin Chuan jolted, suddenly snapping back to her senses.

She stared blankly for a moment before turning her head to look at Chen Changsheng.

Chen Changsheng met her gaze and motioned for her to stay quiet.

After that brief moment of bewilderment, the truth dawned on Qin Chuan.

She looked back at Tianxin on the platform and instantly understood.

Was this really a martial arts lecture?

It was nothing but forced indoctrination—something closer to brainwashing.

A faint golden light flared in Chen Changsheng's eyes as he studied Tianxin Martial Master.

"Just as I thought..."

This Tianxin Martial Master was not human at all.

Through Chen Changsheng's eyes, the figure on the high platform was actually a green cicada resting with folded wings. A faint Buddhist light clung to her, but it was eclipsed by a much heavier, sinister Demonic Power.

Tianxin kept speaking. "The Spirit Void is vast, yet the masses of the world pay it no heed. People must undergo Spirit Refinement, and they must awaken their spirits..."

Neither Chen Changsheng nor Qin Chuan made a move. They simply watched in silence, waiting to see what kind of trick this creature would play.

"However, human power is frail, making it difficult to connect with the Spirit Void. This method is a technique of celestial beings, but why couldn't mortals cultivate it as well?"

"In my early years, I practiced Cultivation in a hermitage. I came to understand thought, and I grasped the great principles."

"There are two methods of Spirit Refinement."

"The first is to use heavenly materials and earthly treasures to nourish and refine the Spirit Void. The second is to calm the mind and meditate to expand the Spirit Void."

"But within ancient Arts and Techniques, another path is recorded."

"Observing a Dharma Manifestation can strengthen the Spirit Void, and sincere prayer can grant one the power of the divine."

Hearing these words, a suspicion took root in Chen Changsheng's mind.

Seeing that the minds of the crowd below were firmly under her control, Tianxin curled her lips into a faint smile.

She raised her hands and clapped lightly.

"Clap, clap."

Attendants stepped out from the back, carrying a large portrait.

"This portrait depicts the Phoenix of Heaven and Earth, an auspicious divine entity. Visualize it with a sincere heart, and you will awaken the transformations of your divine soul."

"I will now pass the method of visualization on to you all. I hope you will bury it deep within your hearts, just as you must bury this image of the divine bird in your hearts."

Tianxin's voice drifted into the crowd's ears like a hypnotic spell.

In an instant, guided by her words, the image of the divine bird firmly planted itself deep within the minds of everyone present.

This bewitchment ensured that even after waking up, the crowd would have no memory of what the portrait actually looked like. Yet, their subconscious minds would tirelessly continue to visualize the divine bird.

It seemed entirely contradictory, yet she had made it a reality.

The methods of the Buddhist Faction regarding divine sense were truly extraordinary!

Tianxin then chanted, "Refine the spirit within the heart, refine the spirit within the image. Revere the heavenly deities, and fulfill the Spirit Void..."

She proceeded to impart the mental mantra.

As she spoke, the people below unconsciously began circulating this mantra, merging it with the image they were visualizing and letting the energy flow through them.

Some in the crowd fainted instantly, all color draining from their faces.

Others, however, looked flushed with excitement, or wore expressions of profound comfort and ease.

This step served as a filtering process. Much like how those on the path of Cultivation required a spiritual root and innate talent, those lacking aptitude simply could not practice such a method. Forcing themselves to cultivate it would not only damage their divine sense, but could leave them completely crippled in severe cases.

The visualization method Tianxin was currently reciting solved this exact dilemma by carefully controlling the intensity. Anyone who passed out from the visualization could be safely filtered out, while those who persevered would advance to the next stage.

This was likely the real reason why the lectures were separated into three distinct rounds—Human, Earth, and Heaven.

Chen Changsheng shifted his gaze toward the so-called visualization portrait.

Upon seeing it, a sudden wave of familiarity washed over him.

"It's him..."

The one that had slipped through the net.

The Evil Phoenix that had been driven out during the battle for the celestial official seats back then!

Was the matter with the Southern Yan Sect all his doing?

Chen Changsheng frowned, sensing that something was amiss. Why would the Evil Phoenix go to such lengths?

Qin Chuan wore a grim expression. She looked at Chen Changsheng and whispered, "What is this..."

Chen Changsheng shook his head slightly. "Ignore it for now. We will discuss it later."

However, Qin Chuan's sudden movement caught Tianxin's attention.

"Hmm?"

Tianxin frowned, her gaze locking onto Qin Chuan in the crowd.

The moment their eyes met, Qin Chuan instinctively looked away.

She was instantly exposed!

'She wasn't controlled?'

Startled, Tianxin raised a hand and curled a finger toward Qin Chuan.

"Come here."

The power of divine sense was laced into Tianxin's words.

But that voice was abruptly shattered by a surge of Magical Power radiating from Qin Chuan's body.

Tianxin flinched, leaping to her feet in shock.

"Sit down."

A voice suddenly echoed right beside Tianxin's ear.

Tianxin froze. Panic flashed in her eyes as she frantically scanned the surroundings.

Who was it?!

In her panic, Tianxin's technique was broken. Instantly, the crowd began to slowly awaken from their trance.

"Hmm?"

The attendees looked around in a daze.

Some shook their heads, while others wore blank, uncomprehending expressions.

"What just happened?"

Up in the pavilion, someone saw the situation and immediately stepped forward.

"Tianxin Martial Master has fallen ill! The lecture ends here!"

Moments later, several people rushed onto the platform and quickly escorted Tianxin Martial Master away.

"What's going on?"

"I have no idea."

"What in the world was that?"

The vast majority of the crowd was completely left in the dark.

Chaos rippled through the venue. No one could remember exactly what had transpired just moments before.

Qin Chuan stood up. Her face was distinctly pale as she looked over at Chen Changsheng. "Mister..."

Chen Changsheng lightly patted her shoulder. "Don't be afraid."

Qin Chuan's lips trembled slightly; she had likely been genuinely frightened by Tianxin's piercing gaze.

Chen Changsheng said, "Back in Water's End City, you bore witness to blood and gore flying in every direction. A minor spectacle like this is nothing to fear."

Qin Chuan froze. She stared at Chen Changsheng, utterly astounded.

"Mister, you..."

Chen Changsheng gave a slight smile. "Miss Fang, it has been a long time. I trust you've been well?"

The person going by the alias Qin Chuan was none other than Fang Miao, the young woman Chen Changsheng had bought from human traffickers back in Water's End City.

Fang Miao opened her mouth, her tone laced with deep helplessness. "Mister, could you perhaps choose a better time to reunite next time? Shouldn't we be leaving?"

Chen Changsheng said, "Aren't we going to stick around to watch the show?"

"The show?" Fang Miao paused. Right now, her only desire was to get out of there as quickly as possible.

"Didn't you come here today specifically to uncover what the Southern Yan Sect is really up to?" Chen Changsheng asked. "This is the perfect opportunity. This Chen will take you to ask them personally."

"Ask... ask them?"
