Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 847: Yunxiang Gets Angry

Yunxiang entered the Ancestral Hall to offer incense.

Chen Changsheng and Shopkeeper Cao waited outside.

As for Lihua and Yu Hongjin, they had run off somewhere in the estate to play.

Those two little ones could never sit still.

Before long, Yunxiang came out of the Ancestral Hall with Tang Shijing.

Seeing Tang Shijing for the first time, one could spot the shadow of the old Tang Mingjing in him. Now a youth, he bore a striking resemblance to the man; in fact, in both his features and overall bearing, he even surpassed Tang Mingjing by a margin.

Seeing the man before him, Tang Shijing quickly cupped his hands in a respectful salute, saying with a cheeky grin, "Shijing greets Uncle."

Chen Changsheng paused in surprise, then burst out laughing.

Yunxiang, however, blushed furiously. She grabbed Tang Shijing by the ear and scolded, "What nonsense are you spouting?"

His cheeky, grinning demeanor was a world apart from the refined air he had displayed just a moment ago.

Yunxiang said, "Mister, please excuse the childish nonsense. Shijing has always been used to messing around..."

Chen Changsheng offered a warm smile, paying it no mind.

Tang Shijing breathed a sigh of relief. It was a good thing his aunt had returned; otherwise, he would have been forced to kneel in the Ancestral Hall for days on end. He probably would have gone stupid from all that kneeling. This could certainly be considered a narrow escape.

The brief commotion soon passed.

The servants had already prepared the meal.

The group gathered around the table.

Tang Shijing was surprised to discover a little girl he had never seen before. Startled, he glanced at Yunxiang, then at Chen Changsheng, before his gaze finally landed on Yu Hongjin.

Yu Hongjin blinked and asked, "What are you looking at?"

Tang Shijing opened his mouth, then looked toward Yunxiang. "Aunt, when did I... get a little sister?"

At those words, both Chen Changsheng and Yunxiang froze.

Yu Hongjin, however, grew a bit angry. She crossed her arms and declared, "Who's your little sister? Going by seniority, I am your little aunt!"

Tang Shijing was dumbfounded. "Huh?!"

Yunxiang explained, "Young Master Tang should have told you about her. This is Yu Hongjin."

Tang Shijing caught on. "Ah, so you're the little drunkard my dad mentioned!"

Yu Hongjin was taken aback, but she didn't get mad. She smacked her lips and said, "That doesn't sound very nice, but it's true."

She had given up trying to deny it.

Tang Shijing stared at her curiously. "I heard my dad say you transformed from a fish. How did you do that? Can you turn into a fish right now? Do fish need to drink wine and eat food too?"

"..."

Listening to Tang Shijing chatter on and on, Yu Hongjin didn't even know which question to answer first.

Tang Shijing walked over and asked, "Can I pinch you?"

"Pinch what?"

"Your face."

"Why do you want to pinch my face?"

"To see if it's real, or just an illusion."

"It's real! It's real!"

"Oh, oh..."

Tang Shijing pressed, "So can I pinch it?"

Yu Hongjin was momentarily speechless. "No."

"I'll call you little aunt if you let me pinch it."

"No!"

Tang Shijing immediately followed up, "What a pity... Hmm, what if I buy you a drink?"

Yu Hongjin paused, looking at him.

Yunxiang snapped, "Shijing!"

Tang Shijing snapped out of it and chuckled playfully. "Aunt, I'll stop talking. I'll stop."

Yunxiang sighed. "It's no wonder Young Master Tang sent you back."

Tang Shijing just smiled; he had always been quite mischievous.

Yunxiang asked, "So, what did you actually do this time to make Young Master Tang so angry?"

Tang Shijing replied casually, "I almost beat a prince to death."

Hearing this, everyone present was stunned.

Even Yunxiang was startled.

Yu Hongjin even stopped eating and asked, "Are you serious? You'd even dare to beat a prince to death?"

Tang Shijing gave a dismissive laugh. "What's the big deal? It's just an imperial prince. Even if it were a titled prince, I'd beat him up too!"

Right as he spoke, he received a smack on the head.

Yunxiang's face was stern as she scolded, "Stop spouting nonsense!"

Tang Shijing quickly lowered his head, all traces of his cheeky grin vanishing.

Yunxiang continued, "You've really grown arrogant, haven't you? Daring to beat a prince! You don't know the immensity of heaven and earth! If we weren't in a time of chaos, do you think you'd still be alive right now?!"

Listening to her, Tang Shijing didn't argue back, quietly accepting the scolding.

Yu Hongjin chimed in, "Exactly, exactly. He doesn't know the immensity of heaven and earth, hmph."

Yunxiang shot Yu Hongjin a look.

Yu Hongjin immediately ducked her head and focused on the food in her bowl, not daring to utter another word.

Yunxiang looked back at Tang Shijing, snatched the chopsticks from his hands, and slammed them onto the table.

"Go back to the Ancestral Hall and kneel!"

Yunxiang ordered coldly.

"Ah? Aunt, you just let me out, and now you're making me go back?"

"Are you going or not?"

Yunxiang's tone was freezing.

Hearing this, Tang Shijing felt a bit scared. "Can I at least finish eating first..."

"Go kneel. Right now!"

Tang Shijing fell silent and dejectedly made his way to the ancestral hall.

When Yunxiang got angry, no one dared to interject.

For a good while after Tang Shijing left, the atmosphere at the dinner table remained icy.

Yu Hongjin wouldn't dare speak up. Sister Yun rarely got angry, but when she did, it was truly terrifying.

Chen Changsheng gave a light cough and said, "Don't be too angry. Eat first. We've been traveling for days; you need a full stomach to have the energy to discipline someone."

Yunxiang let out a soft sigh and rubbed her aching temples.

Chen Changsheng added, "Looking at that child, although he's a bit mischievous, he doesn't seem like the type to actively stir up trouble. There might be a hidden reason behind all this. You should ask him properly another day."

Yunxiang replied, "Shijing is far too frivolous in his words and actions. If he keeps this up, I'm afraid he'll cause a massive disaster."

"He certainly needs to be taught a lesson," Chen Changsheng agreed.

"Mm."

Yunxiang said, "I'll question him again another day."

Lihua shoveled down two mouthfuls of food and suddenly said, "He's a good person."

Those words took everyone by surprise.

Seeing the atmosphere suddenly grow heavy, Lihua looked up. Finding everyone's gaze fixed upon it, Lihua felt a bit uncomfortable for a moment.

"Wh-what's wrong?"

Yunxiang asked, "Lihua, why do you say Shijing is a good person?"

Lihua blinked and said, "He just is. Good people and bad people smell different. Lihua can smell it."

Yu Hongjin muttered, "Not even a dog's nose can smell the difference between a good and bad person."

Lihua thought about it and insisted, "It really is different. Anyway, the scent on him isn't unpleasant. It smells very nice, so he definitely couldn't be a bad person."

Hearing this, Yunxiang couldn't help but fall deep into thought.

She felt that perhaps Shijing's situation wasn't that simple after all.

After finishing her meal, Yunxiang made another trip to the ancestral hall.

Meanwhile, Chen Changsheng struck up a casual chat with Shopkeeper Cao.

Speaking of which, the two of them hadn't seen each other for many years.

When they first met all those years ago, Shopkeeper Cao had been in the prime of his life. After their long parting, he was now in his twilight years.

Shopkeeper Cao said, "Come to think of it, it's all thanks to Mister's blessing that the latter half of my life has gone so smoothly."

Chen Changsheng replied, "Shopkeeper Cao exaggerates. This Chen hasn't really done anything to help."
