Lihua woke, opened its eyes, and let out a wide yawn.

Sunlight spilled into the room, draping over Mao'er and making the cat look pleasantly warm.

But when Lihua turned its head, it froze in surprise.

Specks of starlight seemed to drift through the room, swirling around Chen Changsheng and enveloping him in their glow.

They moved as if alive, clustering so densely around Chen Changsheng that he was almost blinding to look at.

"Mmm..."

Lihua merely thought it looked rather pretty.

At Mao'er's soft murmur, Chen Changsheng opened his eyes.

In that instant, the surrounding qi destiny fled like flowing water, as if a great gust of wind had swept it all away.

Lihua cried out, "They ran away! Ran away! They ran away!"

It swiped a paw to catch them, but struck empty air. The qi destiny passed right through its claws and streamed out the window.

Chen Changsheng looked at Mao'er and asked, "You're up this early, Lihua?"

Lihua rolled over and stood up. "Chen the Good Man makes Lihua sound really lazy."

Chen Changsheng paused. "Are you not?"

Mao'er gave a soft harrumph and offered no rebuttal, likely feeling a bit embarrassed.

It quickly changed the subject. "What were all those sparkly things just now?"

"Qi destiny."

Chen Changsheng said, "Visible qi destiny."

Ordinarily, it would be invisible, but the Suspended Fortune method was exceptionally formidable. By drawing on Magical Power, it allowed the qi destiny to take form.

Lihua nodded in half-understanding, then asked, "What were they here for?"

Chen Changsheng smiled. "This Chen tricked them into coming."

"Tricked?"

"Mm."

"How did you trick them? Like tricking a child?"

"Pretty much."

"Oh." Lihua thought about it for a moment, then asked, "What did Chen the Good Man trick them with? You don't even have candy."

"Something else."

Chen Changsheng rubbed Mao'er's head and said, "Qi destiny possesses no consciousness, but it naturally clusters around extraordinary individuals. Merely changing my aura a bit was enough to draw them in."

Lihua did not quite understand, and simply listened quietly to Chen Changsheng's explanation.

Chen Changsheng thought for a moment and said, "In short, it is much like tricking a child."

"!"

Lihua splayed its claws and declared, "Chen the Good Man tricks children!"

"I was just striking an analogy."

"Who is Analogy? Why did you strike him?"

"..."

Chen Changsheng simply said, "You are not very smart."

Lihua froze upon hearing this. It opened its mouth as if to say something, but swallowed the words back down. Turning its head away, it squatted down, looking as though it were sulking.

Mao'er was unhappy.

Seeing this, Chen Changsheng reached out, poked it, and asked, "Why has Lihua stopped talking?"

Lihua did not look back. Flicking its tail, it swatted Chen Changsheng's hand away without a word.

Chen Changsheng chuckled and said, "Lihua is smart. Smart, alright?"

Mao'er sheepishly looked back at him.

Just in time to meet Chen Changsheng's gaze.

The haughty cat immediately turned its head away again and gave a soft harrumph.

"Hmph."

Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, Chen Changsheng scooped the cat up. "What kind of cat acts like a little resentful ghost?"

Lihua harrumphed, "Chen the Good Man is the little resentful ghost. Lihua is not, not at all."

"Mm, you're not, you're not."

"Time to eat."

In the morning, the butler of Tang Manor came to call them for breakfast, while the servants prepared warm water and willow twigs for washing up.

After freshening up, Chen Changsheng brought Lihua to the front hall to eat.

Breakfast at Tang Manor was far from ordinary.

For three people and one cat, seven dishes were arranged on the table.

Having wealth naturally came with its benefits—otherwise, what was the point of earning so much money?

Because of this, Chen Changsheng had enjoyed several highly satisfying meals.

During the meal, Yunxiang brought up another matter. "I heard from the butler that Mister went to the ancestral hall to see Shijing last night?"

Chen Changsheng nodded and said, "I spoke with him about a few things through the door."

Yunxiang said, "Shijing is different from ordinary people. After not seeing you for years, he can speak without a sense of propriety. If he offended Mister, I hope you won't take it to heart."

Hearing this, Chen Changsheng replied, "Saying such things makes us seem like strangers."

A smile graced Yunxiang's lips, and she said no more on the matter.

Yu Hongjin, on the other hand, was entirely at ease, taking massive bites of rice and food without a single care for their conversation.

After finishing her meal, Hong Jin ran outside for a stroll with Lihua.

This fish and cat were getting along much more harmoniously now. Though they bickered without end, they were indeed friends.

After Hong Jin left, Yunxiang finally asked, "Did Brother Mo return?"

Chen Changsheng nodded and said, "He returned last night. As for Hong Jin's situation, we now have some clues."

"What is it?" Yunxiang asked.

Chen Changsheng said, "It is a Divine Abilities method concerning qi destiny. Perhaps it was imparted by a cultivator before Hong Jin gained sentience, or perhaps it is an unpurged memory from her past life."

Yunxiang nodded, then said, "In Zhu Qi's memories, it seems that any method dealing with qi destiny is always somewhat... somewhat wicked."

Chen Changsheng paused and said, "That is not wrong. This method of qi destiny is indeed a bit wicked. Such arts are primarily meant to plunder the qi destiny of others, using qi destiny in place of Magical Power to forge Dao Cultivation."

Yunxiang murmured, "Plundering the qi destiny of others..."

"Could it be that this is not a method of the Righteous Path?"

Chen Changsheng shook his head and said, "I wouldn't quite say that. Qi destiny is tied to karma. Forcibly plundering destiny will leave one entangled by karma, but if qi destiny is acquired through other means, one can still walk the Great Dao. It merely depends on who is cultivating it."

Hearing this, Yunxiang felt somewhat relieved. She then asked, "Then what about the two black fish Hong Jin mentioned before..."

Chen Changsheng said, "The imbalance of yin and yang is indeed an issue. Right now, the best method is to help her gather a bit more misfortune to counterbalance the white fish."

"It is just... this is somewhat difficult."

"Difficult?"

Chen Changsheng nodded and said, "Qi destiny is not like spiritual energy, where you can take as much as you please. To make it balance, one must obtain exactly the right amount of qi destiny. This is the thorniest part. Qi destiny is formless and difficult to divide; finding the exact right amount is even harder. In the early years, many cultivators who practiced the Fate-Suspending Method were trapped by balancing qi destiny and karma for this very reason. With the slightest misstep, they would have to waste their effort all over again. As one side waned, the other waxed, forever unable to achieve balance, and ultimately trapping them within karma."

Yunxiang asked worriedly, "Then what should be done..."

She paused and asked, "Can't we simply disperse this qi destiny?"

Chen Changsheng shook his head and said, "It cannot be dispersed simply because you wish it. Qi destiny recognizes its master. Once it follows you, it follows you. It cannot be driven away. It is just like how a person's fortune is their fortune, and a person's suffering is the suffering they must endure. To put it more bluntly, doing good will inevitably reap a good reward, and doing evil will inevitably reap an evil reward."
