Yunxiang rested her chin in her hands, simply gazing at the Mister.

Hearing these things from someone else felt entirely different.

The Mister's past, everything he had been through, was completely different from what she had imagined.

There were no earth-shattering deeds, nor the boundless miracles of Immortals. They were nothing more than the most ordinary of stories.

It was true.

Wasn't that exactly the kind of person the Mister was?

Wealth, fame, Immortals, and Changsheng—none of these seemed important to him. People often called the past a fleeting cloud, but to the Mister, it mattered deeply. A Mister who valued these bonds so highly was exactly the Mister the world saw.

Yu Hongjin saw her sister's rapt expression and could only sigh in resignation.

It made her feel like the mature one.

Yu Hongjin, who had been sneaking drinks, also ended up red-faced. Fortunately, Yunxiang caught her before she could get completely drunk.

The banquet came and went in a hurry, as did the people.

Hong Sancai personally escorted them back to the inn.

Chen Changsheng let out a breath as they walked and asked, "Have you run into any difficulties recently?"

Hong Sancai shook his head. "The people of Qiuyue Fang live in peace, and there are no demons causing trouble. What difficulties could there be?"

Chen Changsheng nodded and asked nothing more.

After seeing them back, Hong Sancai took his leave.

Just like them, he was in a hurry.

Yunxiang put Yu Hongjin to bed in her room, then came back out holding Lihua. Seeing no sign of the city god, she asked, "Mister, has the City God Lord already left?"

Chen Changsheng nodded.

Yunxiang paused, a little confused.

Chen Changsheng turned to her. "He didn't ask me for anything. When I asked if he had any difficulties, he said no."

Yunxiang opened her mouth to speak, but a faint smile touched her face instead.

"You seem pleased, Miss Yun?" Chen Changsheng asked, puzzled.

"I'm just happy you have a friend like that, Mister."

Chen Changsheng smiled. Stepping forward, he gently held her shoulders. "Go back inside. It's getting a bit cold out here."

"Mhm."

Yunxiang lowered her head slightly and carried Lihua back upstairs.

Lihua had been carried away.

Without Mao'er, the room felt a little emptier.

Chen Changsheng sat at the desk by the window, his gaze drawn to the starlight dotting the sky.

He thought of the banquet, and of the good friend he hadn't seen in so many years.

The Mister smiled to himself.

It was a good thing.

As he sat in thought, Chen Changsheng suddenly sensed several unfamiliar auras.

He paused, then looked up at the ceiling.

Before he could react—

Crack.

Roof tiles shattered as several figures dropped into the room from above.

Moonlight spilled in, catching the gleam of several Long Sabers in the dark.

Clang!

With a hum of steel, the blades slashed straight toward Chen Changsheng.

Chen Changsheng pushed off lightly on his toes, flipping backward. The strikes hit nothing but air.

With a wave of his hand, the candles in the room flared to life.

Instantly, the entire room was bathed in light.

Before him stood several masked men. They wore the clothes of ordinary farmers; if they pulled off their masks, they would blend perfectly into any crowd.

Seeing this, the men halted their attack.

Four Silver Blades pointed directly at Chen Changsheng.

The leader chuckled. "Good skills."

Chen Changsheng glanced at him. "What is the meaning of this? This Chen does not know you, nor do we have any grudge."

"Indeed, we don't know each other, and we have no grudge."

"Then why are you here?"

The leader said, "Don't be too nervous, sir. We aren't here for your life, nor are we bandits. We just have a few questions we want you to answer clearly."

Chen Changsheng wasn't panicked in the least. Feeling a chair behind him, he simply sat down.

"Your martial arts look rather familiar."

Just the forms.

They seemed somewhat related to the techniques in the Nine Yin Manual.

However, these men didn't seem to have mastered much of it—only scattered fragments.

"I suppose I spoke out of turn," the leader said. "It seems you aren't nervous at all."

"I'm not."

Chen Changsheng smiled. "Because This Chen feels you are the ones who should be nervous."

In just that brief moment...

The entire inn had already been surrounded by underworld deputies and Patrol Spirits.

Right now, underworld deputies were already making their way upstairs.

Temple Master Hong knew Chen Changsheng had returned and had already arranged for underworld deputies to keep watch. After all, this was his territory; it would reflect poorly on him if anything happened.

The leader hesitated, then signaled the three men behind him to sheathe their blades.

Once their weapons were put away, the man said, "As you can see, the four of us have no murderous intent."

Chen Changsheng nodded. "That much is true. However, your entrance was a bit impolite. Dropping in like that in the middle of the night can frighten a person."

The man chuckled and cupped his fists.

"In this world, how one speaks depends on who they are speaking to. We weren't familiar earlier, so our actions were a bit crude. Now that we are acquainted, we can talk properly. What do you think, sir?"

"Very sensible."

Chen Changsheng smiled. "Ask away."

The man cupped his fists again and asked, "Who are you, sir?"

At that question, Chen Changsheng immediately understood. He said, "Oh, you are Zhao Zhen's men."

The man's expression changed instantly. He said coldly, "Sir, I may show you respect, but that doesn't mean you can act so insolently! Is the name of the Grand Ancestor something you can invoke so casually?!"

Chen Changsheng spread his hands. "Then kill me."

"You—!"

Seeing the man at a loss for words, Chen Changsheng laughed. "What's wrong? Is This Chen frightening you with just two casual sentences? Surely it's not enough to leave you tongue-tied?"

"Hmph."

The man gave a cold snort. "Since that's how it is, we should at least teach you a lesson."

With that, the four Long Sabers were drawn again.

Their martial arts forms were fierce and ruthless, aimed entirely at delivering a fatal blow.

The men attacked without holding back in the slightest.

It was obvious these men were far from simple. They were either trained death warriors or former assassins; ordinary martial artists would never act with such brutal decisiveness.

Chen Changsheng moved smoothly around the room, facing the four Long Sabers with elegant composure. A tilt of his head, a step to the side—he dodged every sweeping blade. They couldn't even brush a corner of his robes.

Suddenly, Chen Changsheng, who had only been dodging, raised his hand.

He flicked a fingertip against one of the Long Sabers.

With a sharp ding, the Long Saber shattered in two.

The others immediately rushed forward.

Chen Changsheng struck out with his palm, knocking one man back, then swept his sleeve, snapping two more Long Sabers in half.

All four men were forced back.

Just then, the door swung open.

Unseen by mortals, several underworld deputies had already entered the room.

"Audacious villains!"

The four men jolted in alarm. They saw no one, but the sudden rattle of Binding Chains echoed right next to their ears.

Instantly, their movements froze.

Their arms were hoisted up, leaving them completely immobilized.

One of them cried out in panic, "Why... why can't I move?!"
