Immortal Travel of Longevity

Chapter 893: Then Let's Fight!

After three cups of wine, a lively joy settled over the table.

The group fell into easy conversation.

Chen Changsheng noted, "Speaking of which, it seems the Dragon Maiden mentioned her Dragon Transformation many years ago. Logically, it should have happened long ago. Why is it that now..."

"To answer your question, Uncle," Ying En said, "I missed the right time. The dynasty has fractured and its qi destiny is unstable, so it isn't a good time for a Dragon Transformation. Father told us to wait for now."

Chen Changsheng nodded. "True enough. The fracturing of Great Xiang has indeed stirred up a lot of trouble."

"Once the human dao qi fortune scattered, many things became troublesome," the Old Dragon King said. "But it is no matter. The world must inevitably unite after a long division, and the stage is already set, so there is no need to worry too much. Besides, Ying En and Ying Yuan still need plenty of tempering."

Chen Changsheng nodded. "That reminds me, has the Grand Crown Prince not returned yet?"

"Eldest Brother is still in the Desolate Sea."

Ying Yuan spoke up. "He had someone bring a letter back last time saying that all is well, and that he has found his opportunity for a Dragon Transformation."

Chen Changsheng chuckled. "What does that have to do with This Chen?"

"Now you are just being modest," the Old Dragon King said. "Back then, your recitation of the Dragon Scripture caused our Dragon Clan's qi destiny to surge. Across the Four Seas and the eight desolations, every demon possessing Dragon Blood reaped the benefits. When the Dragon Scripture echoed through the world, it was as if they had already endured half a Heavenly Tribulation. Because of that, it only took a few years for the opportunity for Dragon Transformation to arrive."

Chen Changsheng mused for a moment before asking, "Was it really that powerful?"

In truth, he didn't have much of a concept of its effects.

He had indeed recited the Dragon Scripture, and it was true that the Dragon Clan owed him a favor for it, but in his eyes, it shouldn't have been anywhere near that formidable.

"Don't forget," the Old Dragon King pointed out, "they are my children."

Chen Changsheng immediately understood.

With their True Dragon bloodline, they naturally stood to gain the most when the Dragon Scripture was recited. If that was the case, then it made perfect sense.

Ying En smiled. "It is all thanks to you, Uncle Chen."

"Yes, exactly," Ying Yuan agreed.

Chen Changsheng waved a hand. "Let's leave that aside. If you truly want to thank me, persuade the Dragon Lord to stop pouring This Chen so much wine."

The Old Dragon King, who had been right in the middle of refilling Chen Changsheng's cup as he spoke, paused.

"You brat!" the Old Dragon King laughed, both amused and exasperated. "I am personally pouring you wine, and you aren't happy?"

"I am not. I am very much not happy about it."

"I don't care! You'll drink it whether you want to or not! I'll pour it down your throat if I have to!"

Chen Changsheng and the Old Dragon King exchanged a glance before bursting into laughter.

The two continued to top off each other's cups, neither willing to yield.

Ying En didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but she found the sight highly amusing.

Come to think of it, her father only ever acted this shameless when he was with Uncle Chen.

By the end of the banquet, most of the people at the table were perfectly fine.

Only three ended up drunk.

Chen Changsheng, the Old Dragon King, and Yu Hongjin.

Yu Hongjin was the fastest to fall. Without anyone noticing, she had slipped completely under the table.

She loved to drink, but she couldn't actually handle her liquor very well.

Drunk, the Old Dragon King draped an arm around Chen Changsheng's shoulders. He patted Chen Changsheng's shoulder and slurred, "You... you brat. Found yourself a wife without making a peep. That's im... impressive..."

Chen Changsheng coughed lightly. "You've had too much to drink."

The Old Dragon King chuckled. "What a joke. Me, have too much? I could never."

His gaze drifted over to Yunxiang. "Not bad. The very first time I saw you, I knew you weren't some simple girl... to actually, actually..."

"Father," Ying En said helplessly, "you can't use 'not a simple girl' like that."

"Ah, it's all the same, all the same."

The Old Dragon King waved a hand and continued, "For Miss Yun to actually manage to take down Chen Changsheng, I am completely convinced! This shameless fellow is powerful, sure, but he's a block of wood. Brilliant methods! You have my deepest admiration."

Unsure of how to respond, Yunxiang nervously glanced at Chen Changsheng.

But the Mister was also caught between laughter and exasperation, at a complete loss for what to do.

"Your behavior when drunk is terrible," Chen Changsheng said.

"Hey!" The Old Dragon King took offense to that. "How is my behavior terrible? You'd better give me a good reason, or I'm going to smash you!"

Chen Changsheng scoffed. "It's just terrible."

Ying En smiled apologetically. "Uncle Chen, Father is just drunk and rambling. Please don't take offense to him, Mister."

"I am not drunk!" the Old Dragon King waved his hand dismissively.

Chen Changsheng nodded. "Right, you aren't drunk."

The Old Dragon King leaned in closer to Chen Changsheng. "Let me ask you something."

"What is it?"

"You and this Miss Yun... how far along are you two?"

Hearing the question, Yunxiang immediately lowered her head in embarrassment.

"Hmm?"

"Ah, you don't understand?"

Chen Changsheng looked at him helplessly. "Is This Chen supposed to understand?"

The Old Dragon King sighed softly. "Tsk, you're hopeless. One look and I can tell you haven't sealed the deal."

"Stop talking if you're drunk," Chen Changsheng muttered. "It isn't polite to gossip about people right in front of them."

The Old Dragon King nodded repeatedly. "You're right."

Chen Changsheng gave a slight nod, planning to rest for a moment.

Unexpectedly, the Old Dragon King leaned right back in and asked, "Really nothing?"

"..."

"Nothing!" Chen Changsheng snapped.

Hearing this, the Old Dragon King smacked his lips, then wiped a hand down his face.

His voice instantly turned clear and sober. All traces of his drunken stupor vanished as he bluntly declared, "You really are hopeless!"

This sudden change stunned everyone present.

Even Ying En and Ying Yuan couldn't quite react in time.

He wasn't drunk?!

Chen Changsheng stared at him and shook his head. "How many years have you been alive, yet you still pull these cheap tricks and fake being drunk? Do you have no shame?"

"What shame?" The Old Dragon King shot him a look. "I just didn't expect you to actually be this hopeless."

Chen Changsheng paused for a second, then raised his hand.

A sharp clack rang out.

The Listening Rain Sword was placed on the table.

The Old Dragon King glanced at it, his eyelids twitching. "What? Are you going to fight me, Chen Changsheng? Do you really think you can beat me?"

Chen Changsheng drew the blade from its sheath. "Keep spouting nonsense and This Chen will actually cut you."

The atmosphere froze.

Mid-bite, Lihua froze and snapped its head up.

Ying En and Ying Yuan were equally alarmed.

"Father!"

"Uncle Chen!"

Yunxiang hurried forward to stop him. "Mister."

But the Old Dragon King stuck his neck out, acting as if he were having a drunken fit. "Cut me! Come on, cut me! Right here! Don't you dare miss!"

Chen Changsheng raised the sword. "This Chen is swinging!"

The Old Dragon King craned his neck even further. "Swing!"

"Uncle Chen! Don't!" Ying En jumped in fright.

The Old Dragon King smirked. "I bet you don't even have the guts."

Caught between amusement and exasperation, Chen Changsheng swung the sword down.

The Old Dragon King hurriedly dodged out of the way. Fortunately, he managed to avoid it.

"You actually swung?!"

"You told This Chen to swing."

"Fine, fine, fine!"

"Let's fight!"

"Alright!" Chen Changsheng replied. "To tell the truth, This Chen has been sick of looking at you for a long time."

"Do you think I enjoy looking at you?!"

"Fight!"

"Then let's fight!"

With that, the two figures suddenly rocketed out of the Dragon Palace, vanishing to who knew where in the blink of an eye.

"Uncle Chen! Father!"

Ying En and Ying Yuan hurriedly chased after them.

Lihua, its cheeks still bulging with food, stared blankly at the scene.

Where did they go?

Why did they suddenly start fighting?
