As those petals danced across the world, the golden age of demonic cultivators began.

Countless people stepped onto the demonic path in pursuit of that ethereal, absolute freedom. All old grudges and new hatreds would find their end with the emergence of the demonic path.

“There are far too many in this world who are weak, humiliated, and powerless to fight back. As the demonic path flourishes, old hatreds and grudges will ruin person after person, unleashing endless slaughter.”

These demonic methods offered a chance to those trampled in the dust, while also punishing those who acted with unreasonable tyranny. Above all, however, they brought unprecedented chaos to the world.

Ning Bufan seemed to sense this as well. He spoke up, “Mister Chen, the Cultivation World really isn't safe.”

Chen Changsheng looked at him. “Nowhere is safe.”

He turned to Family Head Yun. “This Chen is also powerless in this matter. I cannot put an end to such methods. The danger lies not in the technique itself, but in the human heart. Family Head Yun should understand what I mean.”

Family Head Yun stood stunned, taking a long time to recover his wits.

In the end, he only let out a helpless sigh.

But that very night, a disturbance broke out across Qingyuan.

“Hahahaha, haha...”

Someone laughed wildly in the streets, the sound carrying a sense of deep liberation.

The man held a bloodstained blade. Demonic energy surged around his body; he had already stepped onto the demonic path.

He laughed, yet tears filled his eyes.

By the time the cultivators of Yun Manor arrived, the tragedy had already taken place. The demonic cultivator neither fled nor resisted.

“You there, demonic cultivator! Why did you kill them?!”

“Heh...”

The demonic cultivator only said, “They humiliated my wife and daughter and murdered my parents! I entered the demonic path today—why shouldn't I kill them?!”

Upon hearing this, the crowd fell silent.

The cultivators of Yun Manor said nothing more, only sighing in resignation. Considering the man's identity as a demonic cultivator, they still apprehended him and took him back.

The demonic cultivator offered no resistance. He simply laughed the entire time he was escorted away.

That laughter echoed throughout all of Qingyuan.

It held the resentment built up over many years and the sheer elation of finally claiming vengeance.

The onlookers found themselves wondering what exactly this demonic path had brought to the people.

Perhaps it wasn't entirely bad.

Because such incidents emerged one after another, the cultivators' views slowly began to change, giving rise to new disputes.

“Steward Yun, I heard many people died last night?”

“Indeed...”

Steward Yun discussed the matter with Ning Bufan.

“Quite a few people entered the demonic path. Some victims were sucked dry into husks, while others were killed by blade and sword for the sake of vengeance. Four or five such cases occurred last night alone, and a few killers remain unidentified even now.”

Ning Bufan asked, “Are demonic cultivators really that powerful?”

Steward Yun said, “In theory, demonic cultivators in the same realm are indeed somewhat more powerful than ordinary cultivators. But every gain comes with a loss. Demonic energy corrupts a cultivator's mind. Over time, it becomes difficult for them to confront their own hearts. Furthermore, those who enter the demonic path are loathed by heaven and earth, drawing the tribulation of thunder from above. Entering the demonic path is easy, but returning to what they once were is incredibly difficult.”

“Although this technique gives an opportunity to some, it severely threatens the safety of Qingyuan,” Steward Yun continued. “That is the most troublesome part.”

Listening to this, Ning Bufan truly felt that the Cultivation World was a dangerous place. With his meager skills, he probably couldn't survive here. But it didn't matter; he was leaving with Mister Chen anyway.

That day, Family Head Yun hosted another banquet for Mister Chen. When it was time to leave, he offered him some wine. Unable to decline, Chen Changsheng accepted it.

In the end, Family Head Yun personally saw them out, escorting them all the way to the edge of the Desolate Sea.

“Take care on your journey, Mister. If the opportunity arises, please visit Yun Manor again. This Yun will surely line the streets to welcome you.”

“For sure, for sure.”

They parted ways and boarded the bamboo raft once more.

Ning Bufan let out a breath and looked back. Confused, he asked, “With your abilities, Mister, it shouldn't be hard to deal with those demonic cultivators, right?”

Chen Changsheng looked at him and smiled. “Why bring this up?”

“I just feel that after we leave today, a lot of slaughter might break out here.”

“So what are you suggesting? Kill all the demonic cultivators?”

“Would that not work?”

“Of course not,” Chen Changsheng said. “Once that method entered the world, it became impossible to kill every demonic cultivator. They will endlessly spring up like wild grass—cut down, only to grow back with the next breeze.”

“What truly drives people to the demonic path is not the method itself, but human desire.”

Ning Bufan naturally understood this. He could only sigh in resignation. “I heard from Steward Yun that a man entered the demonic path last night. He drank the blood of nearly a hundred wild beasts to forcibly boost his Cultivation Base, just to avenge a bitter blood feud. Aside from that, he didn't harm a single innocent person. When I heard that, I felt a bit dazed, thinking that perhaps demonic cultivation isn't entirely wrong.”

He paused, then looked at Mister Chen. “You are right, Mister. The fault lies in the human heart.”

Chen Changsheng patted his shoulder lightly, offering no further explanation.

It wasn't as if Ning Bufan couldn't figure out these truths on his own.

In the blink of an eye, he let it go.

The two sat quietly on the bamboo raft for a moment.

“Mister, shouldn't we get going?”

Chen Changsheng, however, just kept looking at Ning Bufan.

Ning Bufan froze for a second before realizing. “I get it...”

Saying that, he leaned forward, offering the back of his neck. “Go ahead, Mister.”

He was already well-practiced at this.

Chen Changsheng smiled helplessly. “There is actually no need to be asleep to use these Divine Abilities.”

Ning Bufan said, “I know what you mean, Mister. I thought about it over and over last night, but I always felt like I was missing something. After getting drunk, one does not know that the sky is in the water, sigh...”

“Perhaps I really just lack the talent for cultivating the Divine Abilities of the Mysterious Gate.”

Chen Changsheng didn't say a word. He just handed over the wine Family Head Yun had gifted him.

“You were missing a pot of wine.”

Ning Bufan blanked for a moment, then reached out and took it.

He stared at the wine pot in thought for a long time before suddenly realizing something.

“That's it...”

“That feeling... it's hazy and entrancing.”

“I understand now. I understand!”

Ning Bufan let out a laugh and raised his hand. “Drunk, one forgets the sky lies in the water; a boatful of clear dreams weighs upon the Milky Way. I am in a dream, or perhaps dead drunk.”

“Raft, rise! Raft, rise!”

As he raised his hand, the bamboo raft slowly floated up, soaring into the clouds.

Ning Bufan's eyes shone brightly. “I've got it! I've got it!” he exclaimed.

But before he could even revel in his joy, the bamboo raft began to shake violently.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa...”

Chen Changsheng raised his hand just in time and pressed it onto Ning Bufan's shoulder, finally stabilizing the bamboo raft.

Ning Bufan breathed a sigh of relief. “This is a lot harder than in the dream...”

His expression grew serious. “And it's far harder to control than in the dream.”

Sigh.

Divine Abilities truly weren't that easy to learn after all.

The journey was long and distant. Compared to a great dream, this consumed far more energy and Magical Power. The bamboo raft moved fast, then slow, occasionally jolting violently.

Ning Bufan said, “Mister, can you lend me some Magical Power first?”

Chen Changsheng coughed lightly and said, “Divine Abilities and Daoist arts must be studied diligently and practiced hard. You cannot be lazy.”

Ning Bufan felt this made a lot of sense, so he dropped the subject.

He also particularly admired Mister Chen. Just half a poem had allowed him to comprehend such Daoist Divine Abilities.

Mister was truly worthy of being called Mister.

Seeing how easily fooled the boy was, Chen Changsheng merely nodded at him.

A smile surfaced on Ning Bufan's face.

He was still grinning like a fool.

Seeing this, Chen Changsheng lowered his head and continued to ponder the art of Scattering Beans to Form Soldiers.

At this rate, it would still take some time to reach greater mastery.

There was truth to the saying; Divine Abilities and Daoist arts truly required careful study.

If he wanted to manifest a puppet body complete with meridians and a dantian, he still needed to put in the effort.

After floating in the sky for half a day, Ning Bufan finally couldn't hold on any longer.

Seeing that they didn't have much farther to go, Chen Changsheng used his own Magical Power to steer the bamboo raft toward Yunfu Mountain.

Ning Bufan let out a long sigh of relief and rested for a moment.

But the speed of the bamboo raft far exceeded his expectations. It was countless times faster than his own pacing.

Moreover, that Magical Power was incredibly pure, leaving Ning Bufan somewhat envious.

Before long, Ning Bufan looked into the distance and immediately spotted an upside-down mountain suspended above a fairy island.

“Holy hell...”

Ning Bufan widened his eyes, staring at the scene in disbelief.

This mountain was actually hanging upside down beneath the clouds!

Using the clouds as the ground, it stood inverted!

How in the world was this achieved?

Such a mountain actually existed.

Ning Bufan even rubbed his eyes several times before confirming he wasn't seeing things.

“Mister Chen, where is that?”

Chen Changsheng said, “That is Yunfu Mountain.”

Ning Bufan felt particularly curious about this place.

Soon, the bamboo raft parked at the foot of the mountain.

Ning Bufan discovered that it was unusually quiet here. There wasn't the slightest stir of beasts in the forest, yet the surroundings were lush and green. The atmosphere felt very wrong.

Looking around, Ning Bufan saw the rubble of palace halls a short distance away. As he examined the ruins, he could faintly make out the trace of a deep trench cutting right through the structures.

“Such a long trench... could it have been made by some great demon?” Ning Bufan asked.

Chen Changsheng said, “That is a sword scar.”

“A s-sword... sword scar?” Ning Bufan was startled.

Chen Changsheng nodded. “It is a sword scar left behind from when Zhao Yuqing fought someone in his early years.”

“Who is Zhao Yuqing?” Ning Bufan asked.

Chen Changsheng looked up and said, “He is the master of this mountain.”

Ning Bufan's eyes widened, and he exclaimed, “Such a long and deep sword scar... isn't this a bit too exaggerated?”

Chen Changsheng said, “Let's go.”

Ning Bufan stared in a daze, taking a long while to recover his senses before hurrying to catch up.

Before long, they arrived at the base of Yunfu Mountain.

Chen Changsheng raised his eyes, looking toward the mountain peak.

Ning Bufan asked, “How do we get up?”

Chen Changsheng, however, told him, “Just stay here. This Chen will go up alone.”

Ning Bufan blinked, somewhat surprised.

Mister Chen never seemed to avoid him when meeting friends before. Why was he making him wait outside this time?

Ning Bufan asked curiously, “Is this time different?”

Chen Changsheng nodded. “If you go up, you might not be able to come back down.”

“Not come back down?” Ning Bufan didn't quite understand. “What do you mean?”

“Exactly what it sounds like.”

Chen Changsheng added, “Ask fewer questions.”

With that, he tapped his toe on the ground and headed toward the peak of Yunfu Mountain.

Before Chen Changsheng could even reach the mountain amid the clouds and mist, a streak of sword light suddenly slashed toward him.

“Hum.”

Chen Changsheng frowned and raised his hand, summoning the Listening Rain Sword.

He swung the blade to meet the strike.

The two swords clashed, and the entire island instantly began to tremble.

Ning Bufan jumped in fright. “Fuck!”

He hurriedly found a place to hide.

Seeing this, Chen Changsheng continued forward, arriving at the summit a short time later.

Zhao Yuqing stood tall right there, holding a wooden sword in his hand.

Chen Changsheng looked at him and said, “This Chen has come to retrieve some things. I will leave as soon as I take them.”

Zhao Yuqing raised an eyebrow slightly and turned his head to look away.

Chen Changsheng's gaze immediately followed.

He saw the Taiqing Sword facing off against a gourd. The two crashed into each other, creating quite a commotion. They had smashed a large crater into the ground, and one could faintly see numerous sword scars on the surrounding trees, likely the work of the Taiqing Sword.

The two gazes caused the Taiqing Sword and the gourd to freeze.

Upon seeing Chen Changsheng, the wine gourd seemed particularly surprised and overjoyed, hurriedly flying toward him.

The wine gourd circled Chen Changsheng, rubbing against him back and forth like a cat or dog greeting its master.

The Taiqing Sword didn't react as strongly, merely wobbling over to Chen Changsheng's side.

Once the Listening Rain Sword appeared, the two swords immediately locked in sharp confrontation, neither willing to yield an inch.

Zhao Yuqing said, “Take these two bastard things and leave quickly.”

Chen Changsheng smiled. “It looks like they've caused you quite a bit of trouble.”

Zhao Yuqing's mouth twitched. He only had so many things on this island, yet because of this gourd and the Taiqing Sword, the place had been in utter chaos all day long, granting him no peace.

Chen Changsheng said, “Many thanks.”

Hearing this, Zhao Yuqing paused. His expression softened slightly as he waved his hand, signaling him to leave.

Chen Changsheng, however, stood where he was. As if sensing something, his gaze shifted toward a wooden cabin nestled among the distant trees.

In a flash of thought, he realized what it was.

“Are you still not leaving? Do you expect me to keep you for a meal?” Zhao Yuqing asked.

Chen Changsheng shook his head. Withdrawing his gaze, he said, “Although the two of us don't get along very well, I still must remind you of one thing. It would be best for you to involve yourself less in certain karma.”

Zhao Yuqing's expression was calm, but he didn't say a word.

Behind that wooden cabin, Long Rong, who was suppressing her demonic energy, lowered her head. She secretly broke out in a cold sweat, her anxious heart unable to settle.

Chen Changsheng sighed softly. He took another look at the wooden cabin and said, “Look out for yourself.”

With that said, Chen Changsheng left with the gourd and the Taiqing Sword.

Only when Chen Changsheng's aura vanished did Long Rong behind the wooden cabin finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Yet the calm Zhao Yuqing frowned, vaguely beginning to worry in his heart.

Chen Changsheng rode his sword down the mountain.

He couldn't understand when Zhao Yuqing had become so irrational.

The karma clinging to Long Rong was exceptionally heavy. It was only fortunate that the Heavenly Dao of the Cultivation World currently had no scruples. If the day ever came when the fog obscuring the heavens dissipated, Zhao Yuqing would likely find it hard to escape a calamity because of this karma.

However, Chen Changsheng had said what he needed to say. As for what Zhao Yuqing decided to do, he had no way of interfering, nor could he control it. In his current state, how could he possibly match the man in a fight anyway?
